Rehabs That Take Bright Health Plans

Bright Health Plans refers to coverage from Bright Health, a Minneapolis-based insurer that sold individual and Medicare Advantage plans before leaving most markets. Its plans could include drug and alcohol treatment, with benefits varying by plan, network and level of care.Treatment centers in several states name Bright Health on their own websites. Because the company has withdrawn from many markets, first make sure your plan is still active. Then contact both the facility and the insurer before admission to check your benefits, whether the center is in network, and whether prior authorization or a referral is required. Ask about deductibles, copays and any other out-of-pocket cost.

Why Trust RehabSeekers.com?

RehabSeekers is an independent behavioral health directory covering drug and alcohol addiction and mental health treatment providers.

Every listing has a source: an official register, a licensing record, or details the facility sent us.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Common questions

Answered from what is listed here.

Does Bright Health cover drug and alcohol rehab?

No, there is no Bright Health benefit for addiction treatment any more. Bright HealthCare coverage ended December 31, 2022 in every state, Texas operations ran only to July 31, 2023, and the California Medicare Advantage plans passed to Molina Healthcare on January 1, 2024.

Marketplace plans that replaced Bright must cover substance use disorder treatment as an essential health benefit, with no annual or lifetime dollar limits on those services.

Private Insurance Acceptedhttps://rehabseekers.com/insurance-accepted/private-insurance-accepted/
Are there rehabs that take Bright Health insurance?

Not for new treatment. With no Bright HealthCare policies in force, a treatment center cannot bill the plan, and there is no active network left to join. Search instead under the insurer named on the card you carry today, such as the Marketplace plan you hold for 2023 or later.

A center tagged with Bright Health Plans reflects historic network participation rather than current billing.

Private Insurance Acceptedhttps://rehabseekers.com/insurance-accepted/private-insurance-accepted/
Does Bright Health still sell health insurance?

No, the company stopped offering all health insurance plans effective December 31, 2022, except in Texas, where operations continued through July 31, 2023. Individual and family (ACA) plans, small group plans and Medicare Advantage plans are all listed as no longer offered, and health plan operations shut down effective 12/31/2024.

Bright Health Plans was the member-facing name for Bright HealthCare, the insurance arm of Bright Health Group, which sold ACA individual and family plans, small group plans and Medicare Advantage. It is no longer a source of coverage. No admissions team can bill a Bright Health plan for treatment that starts today, because no Bright HealthCare policy is in force anywhere in the country.

The wind-down ran in stages. On April 14, 2022 the company said it would leave individual and group plans in Illinois, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Utah and Virginia; on October 10, 2022 it dropped the remaining individual and family markets and most Medicare Advantage; on November 10, 2022 it added Florida Medicare Advantage. Coverage ran to December 31, 2022, with Texas operations continuing through July 31, 2023 per the company’s own notice. The California Medicare Advantage business passed to Molina Healthcare on January 1, 2024, and the run-out page states that all health plan operations shut down effective 12/31/2024.

This guide covers what the Bright Health benefit was, why authorization and network questions no longer have a useful answer, what treatment costs when the plan that was meant to pay for it has closed, how addiction medication is handled under whatever plan replaced it, and the practical route from an old Bright Health card to a program that can actually be paid.
