Rehabs That Take Friday Health Plans

Friday Health Plans was a Colorado-based insurer that sold individual marketplace plans in several states before closing in 2023. Its plans could include drug and alcohol treatment coverage, with benefits that varied by plan, provider network and level of care, and some services needed approval first.Centers in Florida, North Carolina and Texas still name Friday Health Plans on their own websites. Former members will have moved to a new plan, so call that insurer and the facility before admission to check your benefits, network status, prior authorization or referral needs, and any out-of-pocket cost. Keep your new member ID card at hand.

Why Trust RehabSeekers.com?

RehabSeekers is an independent behavioral health directory covering drug and alcohol addiction and mental health treatment providers.

Every listing has a source: an official register, a licensing record, or details the facility sent us.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Common questions

Answered from what is listed here.

Does Friday Health Plans cover rehab?

No, Friday Health Plans no longer covers anything. The Colorado-based marketplace insurer wound down in 2023 and every policy was terminated: Texas and New Mexico after the 2022 plan year, Georgia on July 31, 2023, and Colorado, Nevada, North Carolina and Oklahoma on August 31, 2023.

While active, its ACA marketplace plans had to include substance use disorder treatment as an essential health benefit. Former members should review benefits under the plan they moved to.

Private Insurance Acceptedhttps://rehabseekers.com/insurance-accepted/private-insurance-accepted/
Does Friday Health Plans cover detox?

No, a detox program cannot bill Friday Health Plans today. All of its individual marketplace policies ended in 2022 or 2023, and the company is in liquidation in Colorado, Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Texas, so a Friday member card has no value.

Coverage for medical detox now comes from whichever insurer a former member chose during their state's special enrollment period in 2023.

Detox Centershttps://rehabseekers.com/programs/detox-centers/
Does Friday Health Plans cover inpatient rehab?

No, residential and inpatient stays cannot be billed to Friday Health Plans, because the insurer stopped providing coverage in 2023 and its state subsidiaries are being wound down by regulators. While the plans were active, ACA rules required inpatient behavioral health services to be covered.

Call admissions with your current insurance card instead; programs commonly run a benefits review before setting an admission date.

Friday Health Plans was a Colorado company that sold individual health plans on the Affordable Care Act marketplaces, and it no longer sells or provides coverage of any kind. Every state policy was terminated in 2022 or 2023, each state subsidiary sits in receivership or liquidation, and the company website now carries only a notice headed “Friday Health Plans in Liquidation”. A Friday member ID card cannot pay for addiction treatment today.

The company started in 2015 as Melody Health Insurance, a Denver startup founded by Sal Gentile and David Pinkert, and bought the 45-year-old Colorado Choice Health Plans of Alamosa effective June 1, 2017, rebranding it Friday Health Plans of Colorado in 2018. Enrollment reached about 330,000 by May 2022, most of it in Texas, where membership jumped from roughly 60,000 in 2021 to about 300,000 in 2022. The parent announced on June 1, 2023 that it would wind down, saying it could not scale its financial infrastructure to match that growth or raise the capital needed to keep running.

This guide sets out what the plans had to cover while they were active, when coverage ended in each of the seven states, who handles claims for services delivered before those dates, what treatment costs without a policy behind it, and what a former member should ask the insurer that replaced Friday. Anyone searching for a program that “takes Friday Health Plans” is working from an old listing, and the practical answer lies with the current plan.
