Willow Oak Community Behav Health Ctr – Riverdale Reviews
Patient reviews of Willow Oak Community Behav Health Ctr cover ground that official records leave out, from the admissions call to aftercare planning. Read them in this section alongside reviews gathered from around the web.
I've not been here but from what I've read on the reviews, I felt the need to say something because I'm going through it. And these people need to stop putting such a stigma around prescribing medication that helps… people with mental health issues giving a patient the medication that they already know has gotten them through episodes in the past. we already feel hopeless walkingthrough that door..When they get there\nAnd I am glad I read the reviews. If you never had a mental health situation , It is impossible for you to understand what we go through. And the slap in the face when you go somewhere , that's supposed to help you , and they just make you want to give up. If you're with a nasty attitude , walk out of the business Because you could be the one person that sets them over the edge. I understand that it needs to be given cautiously and very well supervised, but I do not think you guys should deny people the relief that could make the difference between life and death. Like Seriously, you all need to stop treating everyone like their drug addicts and actually try to help them through their problems. Instead of looking down at them.
The communication is horrible. Anytime you call to try to speak to someone you don’t get nobody back email no response back the representative who answer the phone is rude. I was talking to them about trying to schedule… things for my daughter therapy session after the school hours and all I got was well yeah we can’t work around her schedule so y’all don’t care about my child School scheduling so how do I feel comfortable enough to say y’all going to talk to her helped with her issues that she needs to be help with.
Not a great start to begin my journey I’ve called two days in a row and can’t seem to get a hold of anyone on the phones nor can I leave a voicemail for a call back. As a “new client” maybe this is not a good fit since… it’s a challenge trying to speak to someone via telephone.
I had no issues whatsoever dealing with them.

New location. New Management.
Willow Oak has honestly been such a blessing. I was nervous about starting therapy, but everyone here made me feel comfortable from day one. The front desk staff is also super kind and helpful anytime I have questions.… I’m really grateful I found this place.
Very professional and courteous. They actually listen.
Great service. You can really tell that they care about their patients.
Exceptional Experience! Willow Oak is an incredible practice that truly cares about the well-being of their clients. The team is professional, compassionate, and dedicated to making a positive impact in the community.… Their commitment to mental health, quality care, and client support is evident in everything they do. I highly recommend them to anyone seeking a safe and supportive environment for growth and healing.
My last doctor stopped accepting my insurance so I went to willow oak. It took them over a month to even schedule me for an appointment and I was told before I would be able to get my medicine in my first appointment.… The day before my appointment, I was told I would not be getting medicine at that point (despite the fact I had already been off my medicine for over a month at that point) because it was an “intake appointment only”. I did my intake appointment and the doctor had even stated that because I had already been diagnosed with ADHD and been prescribed my medication, it was very important that I get back on it soon. I then proceeded to wait 4 or 5 more months for an appointment due to them moving, the doctor being “unavailable” for everyday except one a month, and the doctor quitting suddenly and then needing another. I finally went in for my appointment to get back on my ADHD medication and after telling them the medication I needed, taking a drug test and filling out MORE intake forms (because the one hour appointment wasn’t enough?) I was told that because my ADHD meds were controlled substances and I wasn’t experiencing withdrawals anymore, they would not be prescribing it despite the fact I’m diagnosed with ADHD and have had those prescriptions in the past. After about 10 minutes of back and forth with my doctor on how I just want to be on the medicine that works for me instead of trial and error for medicines that haven’t worked in the past, I ended up just walking out of the appointment and ended up having to see a doctor 2 1/2 hours away (the next week) and got my medicine the first day. I was seeing a therapist via telemed through willowoak for several months until my insurance ended. I loved my therapist and had actually started making progress with my PTSD but unfortunately I had to end them because I cannot afford to pay out of pocket. 2 months go by and I don’t hear anything from willow oak until last week when they called me asking if I wanted to schedule an intake appointment??? When I told them I already had one and was doing therapy via telemed until my insurance ended, they were clueless and asked me if I wanted to continue appointments and I told them no as I am uninsured and can only afford my psychiatrist appointments for my medication. They then proceeded to send me a bill via email for $1,200 saying my insurance didn’t cover all 15 appointments for my therapy. When I called them they said it was due to inactivity of my insurance. When I told them that wasn’t true and I would not be paying due to their mistakes when billing my insurance and asked for details on the bill, they hung up on me and when I called back they refused to let me speak with a supervisor or manager and instead continued to hang up on me. After speaking with my insurance, they apparently used the wrong “code” for the bill (they sent 3 months after the appointments had ended) and that’s why my insurance kicked it back to them and instead of contacting my insurance provider to see why it was kicked back, they chose to try to make me pay for the full bill instead. Do not go here!! They are unbelievably unprofessional. When working in the mental health field, you would think they would understand that treating their patients like they are incompetent could result in major mental health crises, but it seems like that is their intentions. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE SEEKING REAL HELP. They treat you like you’re crazy and laugh in your face when you call them out for it.
Thank you and your team for providing us with a warm welcome and making us feel like home. The staff were very caring and understanding to my family.
This is a really great place!!
Very professional, and passionate about their mission with helping people. I was very impressed w Miss Boulai's compassion, experience and information she gave me concerning my circumstances.
If you decide to switch providers for your child after having multiple bad experiences with them, they will call DFCS on you. Do not recommend!
