I was a minor at the time of my visit. I didn’t have the worst time here, but just know that you’ll be doing nothing all day.

My son was admitted here and I must say I was scared at first but very surprised in the end...the staff kept in touch with me and also let my son make phone calls...we also got to do a virtual call so I could see… him...he got discharged and his change was amazing...I'm thankful for the staff that allowed him to call and stay in touch....he seemed to be adjusting well and doing great here! This place may not be for everyone, but it's a place I will be forever thankful for...

Midlands Behavioral Health Hospital, is located in a beautiful building, cloaked in incompentency, under the direction of umprofessional Senior Staff, fearful of sharing the truth. If you have Family Members or friends… there, in my opinion, you should personally check on them often, and take very low confidence in what they say.

Midland behavior health was very good with communication helping me with the situation stayed in communications with me throughout the process very to glad to have my child back home . Also provided transportation… through medicade for her to get there and to get back home . Great place for teens and parents who have kids going through mental health difficulties .

If I could give less than 1 star I would. My time there was awful. But aside from how terrible it was, I cannot get ahold of anyone since being out. The VA has reached out on my behalf for months and no one would… respond or give my medical records. Now I have been trying to request them personally and cannot get anyone on the phone, or to respond to my emails. This place is a joke

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I cannot say enough good things about Midlands Behavioral Health in Sumter. The care, compassion, and support they provided to my teenage daughter during a difficult time in our lives was truly exceptional. The… staff treated her with dignity, respect, and genuine concern for her well-being. They not only helped her navigate her mental health journey, but they also supported our family every step of the way. Their professionalism, dedication, and commitment to helping young people heal and grow made a lasting impact on us. As both a parent and a mental health advocate, I am incredibly grateful for the services they provided. Because of the positive experience we had, I will continue to support and recommend Midlands Behavioral Health to families seeking quality mental health care. Thank you for being there for our daughter and our family when we needed it most. Your work truly makes a difference.

I have a close family member in this facility right now. So far my experience has been horrible! Today is Sunday and I have called at least 50+ times today and I’m not exaggerating, with no answer. None at all! My… question is this how would you feel if you had a family member here and couldn’t get in contact with the facility as a whole? This is absolutely mind blowing. Hard to believe if my family member is receiving the proper care here?? Obviously it’s an issue if you keep getting the same bad reviews!?? Do something about it. Trust me people are NOT Lying, this place is horrible. Obviously it’s a leadership issue because nothing is being resolved. Let’s not talk about the 2 times I was able to get a hold of the nurse 2 days ago, ATTITUDE! They don’t want to help you at all!!! Only pleasant person I spoke with was the psychiatrist Ms Patel. So far everyone else sucks! DO NOT SEND Your LOVE ONES HERE!! You will regret it!!

As a parent of a child with significant mental health needs, finding the right care felt overwhelming and honestly terrifying at times. From the moment my child was admitted to Midlands Behavioral Health Hospital, I… felt heard, supported, and included in the treatment process. The staff showed genuine compassion not only toward my child, but toward our entire family. The nurses, therapists, physicians, and support staff consistently communicated with us and treated my child with dignity, patience, and kindness during a very difficult season. I could see that they truly cared about helping children heal. No parent wants to face a mental health crisis with their child, but I am grateful Midlands was there when we needed help the most. I would absolutely recommend this hospital to families seeking compassionate behavioral health care for their child.

Midlands violated multiple SC laws and regulations pertaining to mental health treatment while my family member was in their care. Legal misinformation was given to us on a regular basis, despite our knowledge of the… information being false, and we were told the laws didn’t apply to their facility. The staff members giving you “updates” are not even working in the physical facility and had absolutely no direct interaction with my child. Their managing company is actually housed out of state. I have reason to believe minimal to no therapeutic interventions occurred involving licensed staff, aside from medication administration. There is no structure, no daily schedule, minimal (if any) therapeutic activities, and children are required to sit in the open unit all day doing nothing of value. All my child can tell me they did was binge watch all six seasons of “Cobra Kai” on Netflix. Staff cursed around the children and we were not allowed to visit in person at all to ensure our child was in a safe environment. These conditions are NOT the norm, nor are they acceptable, for an inpatient behavioral health facility. There ARE other reputable facilities in our state, and I urge you to insist on a different placement if you are being involuntarily committed, or opt for another facility if you are seeking treatment voluntarily. Posting anonymously for the privacy of my child. These issues have already been reported to the facility’s management company.

Don’t take your child or family member here. They do not communicate with you about the status of your child. They only let the child call you for 5 minutes on certain days. They don’t allow visitors. Just an overall… bad place. Not happy at all with our care.

This facility is one to avoid at all costs, mainly due to the fact that THEY DO NOT ALLOW IN PERSON VISITS AT ALL. I understand that many reading this are currently in crisis and fearing for their loved ones, but if you… are in a situation where this place is the only facility with a bed available, refuse to allow your loved one to be transferred here, keeping them in the emergency room for a few days would be better than sending them to a place where the staff is rude, gives out no information to parents at intake and does not allow in person visitation, at least at their adolescent facilities. I have waited until my child was out of treatment before posting this review, because I seriously feared that my child would be mistreated further while they were in their care as a form of retaliation for leaving this negative review. Please do your research, don't just review the very few top comments as they seem to be shill accounts based on my families experience with this center. After reflection it seems like this facility is only here to make a profit and does the bare minimum care, and again, I cannot repeat this fact enough, the stress on my child and family that was caused based on us not being allow to visit in person is something that I cannot adequately express with words. Since our experience with this place has added a new level of trauma to our child due to the fact that we were not even allowed the common human decency of being able to see our child, give them a hug, reassure them in any way, again words cannot express the trauma we have been through while our child was in their "care", and the fact that weeks later we are still dealing with the fallout of this inhumane policy of not allowing in person visits.

This place is not what it should be! They are extremely rude and unprofessional. They gave my family members clothes that were dropped off to her to someone else and she called saying she saw someone wearing her stuff.… We had to go up there for them to give her her clothes back. She has been in her room for 15 hours a day with only one visit from a nurse giving her some type of medicine and has not seen a doctor or therapist at all since she’s been there. They won’t let us take her out or even let her son herself out so she can go somewhere else that can help her. The nurses or staff won’t even talk to you or if they do they refuse to talk in person face to face. This place does not help, it makes people worse. They are horrible. One million percent do not recommend.

This facility is spacious, spotless, secure, and modern! The staff are ALL very kind and merciful and helpful. We’ve used many acute psychiatric facilities and this one was easily the very best of all of them! I highly… recommend.

Midlands was a saving grace for our family member in crisis. Not only did they get in quickly but the staff was extremely supportive. The facility was clean, the food was much better than expected, and they have both… adult and adolescent care. While our family member was inpatient, we were given updates often and had the direct numbers for several staff members. We felt heard and supported and we were given a lot of resources. They were just discharged, but we've been told they will continue to support us from here. We were shocked to find this level of support in Sumter.

The nurse is mean and would not listen to what I had to say! She kept saying that I was being ill when I wasn’t! They lie to!
