Look for detail on how the first week went, how staff communicated and what support followed treatment.
I have nothing bad to say about the nursing staff, kitchen staff etc etc. However this past Tuesday 9/1 my fiancée called the front desk saying I need to talk to him our daughter is having seizures and is being taken… via ambulance to the hospital. She called at 4:18 pm and was told by the front desk that they will relay the message to me. I never got relayed any message whatsoever and just happened to call her at 4:56 pm. So I discharged myself. I understand people probably call in all the time trying to get patients out but literally this could have been a life or death matter. She was on a breathing tube and we spent two days at Connecticut children’s. I self discharged myself and wasn’t there for any legal matter. You’d think something like that would be top priority and they refused to pass the message along. It’s very negligent and completely immoral. I will never recommend this place after that.
This place is amazing. I can not say enought fantastic positive praise to the staff there. Safe environment, a lot of groups and classes & outside time. Cafeteria is phenomenal. I would highly recommend going there for… detox & then a 28 day program in house. IOP aftercare as well. 5 out of 5 stars.
Amazing people and staff here!!!! Don't let those haters get to whoever reads this. I loved my experience in IOP and wish I could go here for continuing therapy.
Groups could be run better and staff could he more professional. I don't like how clinicians use ones legal trouble as leverage.
I was very sick for a week throwing up with stomach pain they gave me meds at first but when I continued to throw up I begged them for the meds that were helping and they told me no I don’t need them. I tried every way… possible to talk to a nurse or doctor politely but it was obvious they did not care what so ever. My father even tried to ask questions and talk to somebody but they were insanely disrespectful to him telling him no nurse will talk to him or me and just ignoring him when he tired to talk one of the nurses started an argument with him and by the point when I heard that I was done I ended up leaving early because of how rude and unprofessional they were being not just to me but a father trying to get answers for his son. It just sucks because rushford used to be a good program but something along the way changed (thank you Jordyn for trying everything to help me get what I needed, your one of the good ones)
If Rushford would like to check the cameras on the stairwell leading to the cafeteria on Feb 3rd just before noon, they'll see a staff member smoking a vape on the stairs in a "non smoking" environment. I'm in absolute… disbelief of the unprofessionalism as staff members acted emotionally with clients, and making snarky comments. Clients were collectively unimpressed as to having to beg clinical staff / counselors for progress in their aftercare.
Stayed for 2 days in December coming from a relapse. Was given narcotics. The facility itself is pretty gross. When I requested to leave, the staff reacted in a hostile way. It was 20 degrees outside and I was rushed to… the curb before I had a ride home set up. Insane.
Absolutely horrible. The first time I went here they turned me down because I wasn't intoxicated. I recently came back and they said they had no beds available after speaking with them on the phone the day before… stating they do have beds available. They sent me to a different place close by and im told they have no beds available either. I'm stranded for the second time. Rushford is a joke
It's pretty unprofessional. Staff in Admissions were out loud gossiping about paitients, coworkers, environment. Sign forms but never received any welcome packets, info, anything. There was no tour or explaination about… the Detox ward. Some staff were very sweet, most treated it like a simple job. The facility is falling apart and filthy everywhere you look. Groups not very stimulating. I stayed a day and a half and had to leave. Not enough care.
I thought it was a good place until they sent me a way for not meeting protocol. They don't care about people. Don't go here. The staff is abusive
The staff is sweet as pie on their intake, probably cause they want your insurance money when you start getting treatment. The staff is very kind, but their protocol and their practices are an absolutely abomination… which border lines severe dereliction of dutyThey should be investigated for some of their practices. They say they have a doctor on staff, but from a hangnail to a severe blood hemorrhage, they just kick you out- It could be anything from a hangnail to a severe head injury , yet they don’t care. They just tell you to get an ambulance and get the hell out of their place cause they have no medical staff for treatment for their clients. They cover it up with lies and deception because I don’t believe a medical staff is in their budget. People seeking recovery from addiction are very fragile and often have medical problems and they will not address them. They will just kick you aside and bring the next person in. There is no medical attention and once they check you in you are just a number and they don’t even remember your damn name. People that are struggling with addiction and need encouragement and support should seek a better facility who is sensitive and cares for their recovery from addiction. -Like I said when you enter they make you feel comfortable and then you realize it’s just a grinding mill .And you just an insurance number and your personal needs are relinquished by their staff. I believe that they should study the Hippocratic oath which means do no harm —because they really messed me up even worse than I was before I arrived there. beware of this facility, I speak the truth
One clinition there did not like my opinion. I've been shut out of Rushford and moved to all different grades of hospitals.THANKS JON
I came to rushford broken. Thanks to the kind and caring staff i have been able to pick up the peices. I felt safe and comfortable during my visit. I recommend this facility when at all possible.
For anyone seeking detox and/or intensive inpatient, Rushford is the place to go. The staff and environment are impeccable. Rich, Joe,Brian, Kelly, and Briana, just to name a few,we're awesome in helping me recover from… the illness of addiction. The place is very supportive and I would go back again if I ever needed to, God for bid.
IOP was a joke, had an unlicensed intern run it. Diagnosed me with something I didn’t and do not have just to say their IOP was good for the whole group. Left after day 1. Shame on the staff for this behavior.
I can't say enough terrible things about the way this place handles admissions. I was supposedly admission admitted showed up on time. got my little green bracelet. did it indicated I always admitted? took my blood… pressure which was high as usual which is also on record. nurse Karen, honestly that's her name. well deserved hostily asking me some questions about a medical condition had me partially stripped made some negative comments and we're off so I spent hours there only essentially be kicked out because I'm too complicated. I'm supposed to get more treatment before I could come back but then there was no coming back. basically his friend who brought me an hour kind of herded to the door a second later I had her go back to pick up the 20 pages they saw of the stuff that I filled out. it had already been shredded. there was no coming back for me. it is humiliating devastating abusive. awful experience these people do well to obliterate the health care part of Health Care 😭
Rushford took down my original review (i could only imagine why) , so ill repost it for potential future clients. i was a patient at rushford who completed the program on the 25th (still going strong with my sobriety… for over a month tomorrow). the experience i had there was the worst experience ive had when it comes to healthcare. I went into suboxone withdrawals, they skipped me for meds for the last 3 of days because i was in quartine . i was coughing up blood and made reports to staff about it and nothing was done. they'll stuff you full of valium and or suboxone, then they wont provide whats necessary to keep the foundation of your "plan" set up. numerous times i noticed i professionalism with staff like when they would ignore clients, or do meaningless tasks like celebrity trivia when we are here to recover. along with numerous arguments with staff who are no greater than any of the clients given that most are previous drug addicts. you would think hartford healthcare would have a better grasp of the situation going on there but theres only three good people on the floor there. Ray one of the Csa's, Rick one of the nurses, and Brianna a clinician. if you go to rushford look for any of those three people
You are treated like a prisoner here. Nobody comes around to check on people. So you can really die and nobody would know. Second shift is extremely lazy and rude. They do not want to pass meds a second earlier even if… you’re going through it. Mostly men are here only 4 women. Men bully women over the phone. They don’t let you use the phone until after dinner which is ridiculous. Phone should be on all day long. They do have snacks and drinks all day available. The overall meals are disgusting. No smoking. Lost some of my clothes idk how when I came in by myself. They give you a lot of meds and the meds made me feel horrible. There was a point I was going to tell them have 911 come get me. The male Counselor Kevin was great. However they never booked my after care. Then when I tried getting an appointment for IOP after discharge they couldn’t get me for a month. There was a male Nurse can’t remember his name he light skin black he was great!
Stonehaven saved my life. The staff is compassionate and clearly cares for the well-being of their clients.
saves my life everyday!
Top notch treatment and educated staff
So I’m in a tough place here. I absolutely cannot recommend the detox program with Rushford enough. They’re kind, caring and make sure that you’re never uncomfortable. They treat you like an individual and not just… another person in line. They care, they want to see you succeed. Unfortunately I fell through the cracks which is no fault of there’s. I just have to be kinda sorta homeless between my discharge and when I get into a 30+ day program. From the nurses, clinicians, cafeteria workers and everything else. This place truly cares about you succeeding and making sure that you, personally are OK
My brothers ended up here two weeks ago. As he has special needs, I wanted to speak to his clinician, not to get information about his treatment plan, although I know he always signs the release for them to speak to me… as I am his only family, but more to give them background on his life up until this point, as we all know addiction can cause people to be less than honest and only share so much. I have literally left 6 messages so far and no returned phone calls. I called the last place he was at to see what I should do, they told me to insist on speaking to a director and they gave me a phone number, I left a message at 10AM received a call back at 5:00PM and the person was less than pleasant, I apparently called a different location and she wanted to give me the number for Middletown, no thank you already have it, can't you get a message to the right person? You after all are within the organization when I asked for that, I got a huge sigh and an okay let me just take care of that for you with such ATTITUDE!! 24 hours and still no phone call. When I went to visit I had issues as well, I got caught in traffic and tried calling to let them know and left once again 6 messages, not call back or anything. When I got there door was locked and a note on it saying I would have to wait till next visiting slot. When we visited, an employee sat in the room we were in the entire time, is that really necessary I feel as though it's an invasion of privacy. Before I left I expressed my concerns and once again asked for a message to be relayed and also was questioning if I could bring a birthday cake and gifts at our next visit as the day after is his birthday I was told they would find out...no word. My concern is my brother is "special needs" and has addiction issues and if I am being ignored so to speak, how are they treating him?!? Wouldn't it be helpful to talk to his only family for insight? Apparently not. Just confused.
needed help and they had me sitting there for hours til i had to be hospitolized. it should not take hours to get help when your in serious need things need to happen fast. and no smoking is very difficult for people… coming in. they should atleast allow that for their patients
After completing the detox and inpatient program myself, I would not recommend this place for recovery. Detox was a good program but the inpatient program leaves much to be desired. You go to the staff about concerns… about the room conditions as I had bed bugs and they tried to convince me they weren't bed bugs and I was exaggerating. I'm talking to my father about a bad day I was having and was trying to stay in the program and a staff member was basically provoking me to leave in the morning. Very unprofessional and hindering for someone trying to recover and having to stress about situations that shouldn't have been an issue in the first place. Me and many other residents has had our items lost and missing on numerous occasions. When I was discharged, they even gave me items that weren't even mine and the process to find them if they even could was a headache. Some of the staff were great and the sessions, although repetitive did help in ways but overall would not advise going to the facility. Hopefully in time they heed out these issues and work on their structure so these issues will not be a problem in the future for recovering addicts
This place is a joke. Inexperienced, unprofessional and disrespectful. The way they run this place is a disservice and dangerous to people trying to get help. I am willing and ready to get sober for the first time in… many years. Rushford strung me along for 4 days. They promised me a bed 3 days in a row and setup a time for me to come in, only to have them cancel 2 hours before I was supposed to be there. They did this 3 days in a row. Then on the 4th day I got in. I showed up at 9am. They took all my stuff, I did all the screenings and everything seemed good to go. Then I met with a nurse and spent an hour answering her questions. Then she left saying she had to submit everything. I waited another hour, only for her to come back and tell me the medical director determined they weren't able to accept me because I possibly had ascites (a very common symptom in alcoholics where youre basically extremely bloated) Are you kidding me!? They're a medical detox, part of Hartford Hospital and they can't handle this. Plus they wasted 4 days that I could've been admitted somewhere else. Im seriously considering hiring an attorney.
I recently left the clinic and I have to say it was amazing. How well they treated me and how attentive they were to my needs. I highly recommend this place.
