About Gilead Community Services Inc – Middletown

Gilead Community Services Inc operates from 230 Main Street Extension in Middletown, close enough to Portland and Higganum to serve both. The practical catchment runs to roughly 8 miles, covering Higganum, Durham, Meriden and Lake Pocotopaug. Middletown sits in Middlesex County, and the county’s own provision is limited enough that this site draws from a wide area.

Gilead Community Services Inc provides intensive outpatient and outpatient care. Medication-assisted treatment pairs buprenorphine, methadone or naltrexone with counseling. Co-occurring conditions are handled concurrently rather than one after the other. Sessions can be held remotely where travel is difficult. Trauma care sits alongside the rest of what is offered. Federal registration is held through SAMHSA and licensing through the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.

“I had a deeply concerning experience with Gilead Community Services and would strongly urge others to do careful research before placing a loved one in their care. In my experience, staff appeared unprofessional and… inadequately trained, with more focus on internal conversations like the case manager talking about deeply personal information violating the so called HIPPA law she preaches, than patient care. I also observed what I believe were repeated violations of patient rights, which were not properly addressed when raised not to mention they had my loved one cleaning up another patients pile of pubic hair, I'm not sure how that applies to her treatment plan for independent living 🤔🤔🤔 on top of that there's a lot of racial bias and not to mention all the past past employees that have spoken up about the Gilead community services on top of past patients also dealing with similar situations and I do believe every word they say since i am currently dealing with with same injustice for my loved one at the 18 spencer dr facility.I make these claims since I'm able to back up what is being said Another serious concern is a program policy that seems to reset patient progress after emergency room visits, potentially delaying completion without clear justification. This had a significant impact on my loved one’s ability to move forward. When I attempted to escalate concerns with Justin Salvio, I did not feel that leadership responded appropriately or took the issues seriously nor did Tamara Brown a so called client rights officer. Overall, the organization seemed more focused on maintaining its image than addressing patient care concerns. Based on my experience, I recommend that families thoroughly evaluate all options and ask detailed questions before choosing this facility.” I had to email all news stations to hopefully bring awareness on the injustice that goes on towards patients. P.s would love too give zero stars, one is to much credit for them and if you do have a loved one there. I would highly recommend reading the department of mental health and addictions patients rights.

If I could give less than one star I would. They do not take care of the properties under their direction. The residents that live in one of the properties do not pick up for themselves and litter everywhere. The… director of the property obviously doesn’t care either. They have to drive/ walk by the mess to get into the building every day.

Absolutely horrific. Funny that this place has a mission statement of “compassionate, individualized care”. This place refuses to work with me and doesn’t listen to anything that I say. I am disabled and they are now… putting additional financial and physical burdens in place to make obtaining my medications absolute Hell. They’ve slandered me in my medical records with absolutely ZERO evidence. They want me out of there; I want to get out of there-but now because of a “primary diagnosis” that Gusfa literally made up out of thin air-I cannot get any other doctor in the entire state of CT to take me as a new patient. Gusfa enjoys making patients lives even more of a nightmare than our lives already are. I’ve never felt more suicidal than with every encounter with this place. It should be illegal to enter a “diagnosis” into a medical record without MEDICAL EVIDENCE. I’ve never felt so degraded and disrespected as a human being than at this place: since Dr. Foreman retired.

I have been failed by these people multiple times. Really went down hill after Dr. Forman left. They will tell you, "you don't look autistic",even though you are". 🙂 Go to Easter seals to get Autism eval, they will help… you.

With COVID they seem unwilling or unable to adequately serve their clientelle. My son has no problem getting in touch with his psychiatrist, but trying to get a hold of his therapist is next to impossible. Nobody… returns phone calls. Funny thing is the people they are supposed to serve are at high risk. Update ... They continue to provide piss poor service

My mom has been seeing Dr Foreman for at least 10 years and she drives 30 minutes for him even though she's nervous driving. She's always said how nice all of the receptionists are. I left a message yesterday to get an… initial appointment but haven't heard back. I'll be calling again tomorrow because I absolutely hate where I am currently. And my mom's the most critical person ever and for her to like this place for over 10 years and STILL have great things to say says A LOT!
