About AVY Counseling Services – Orem

AVY Counseling Services is at 165 North 1330 West in Orem. Vineyard is 1.4 miles away and Lindon 3.0. Pleasant Grove, Provo, American Fork and Cedar Hills all sit within 9 miles of the door. Utah County is the relevant authority here, which matters for anyone using state-funded care.

Services run to intensive outpatient and outpatient care. Federal registration is held through SAMHSA and licensing through the Utah Department of Health and Human Services. Medication-assisted treatment is part of the offer, the approach with the strongest evidence for opioid dependence. Substance use and mental health are treated together rather than in sequence. Remote appointments are offered, useful for anyone without transport. Trauma-focused work forms part of the approach.

AVY Counseling Services – Orem Detox and Rehab Services

Treatment at AVY Counseling Services – Orem covers intensive outpatient and outpatient care. Day programming is scheduled, with evenings spent at home. Ask whether family can be involved and at what stage. Establishing what happens after the program ends is worth doing early.

Co-occurring mental health conditions are addressed alongside substance use, which is the approach the evidence supports. Approved medication is paired with counseling and regular review. What suits one person will not suit another, so ask directly. It is reasonable to ask how progress is reviewed and by whom.

If I could give AVY Counseling, specifically Eric, 10/5 stars I would. His methods and abilities have given me relief from the pain I’ve been experiencing for the last 6 months. So grateful! Highly recommend!

Seems to be ran in a way that is all about maximizing profit. For instance, Last month they "Randomly" selected me to be tested 4 times. Each time that I test they bill my insurance company $300. Three bills for a piss… cup. On top of that, they make me pay a additional $30 for each test at the time i come in to test, otherwise without that $30 payment the test is considered a failed test. Nobody can tell why they are charging me that $30 when I am insured and my insurance covers my testing and they bill that $300. Then they send the test to a lab.... not here in utah locally where they are Located but they send the test to a lab in San Diego California, at which point the lab gets the test runs the results and now because it is a additional company handling my test... they turn around and bill me a $5 dollar copay for ever test. So last month alone... just testing... cost me $140 out of my own pocket, even though im insured and my insurance covers testing. They (AVY) made $1,320 dollars just off of my 4 test just for last month alone. $300 a pop to my insurnce x4 = $1,200 and then $30 each time out of my pocket x4 = $120. $1320 for one month, for one person, for just testing. Not even counting actual treatment. Then anytime you need a letter or results or a compliance paper sent in to the court or your PO or whoever needs any proof from you. Its again $30 for a email or a quick letter or a copy of results.... Its insane .. Communication with anybody in their office is always a struggle and harder then it should be. I have been really dissapointed with the service and how certain things have been handled for me personally. Its totally insane to be paying $120 a month for testing.... especially when im insured and they are already getting paid. I could on and on with a few more things but you get it! Its court ordered.... they have all the leverage.. I just think its wrong.

I'm very greatful for my Therapist, he treats me with respect, and that he cares. I've been seeing him for about two years. Because of his patience with me, I finally am tobacco free. For I think two months now, maybe… longer.

I have been doing treatment here at AVY. I have been in to take UA'S and 7 out of 10 times i set my sample on a desk that was covered in samples from everyone else. I even asked if they would like me to initial the… sample and they replied no it will be fine. Low and behold I had a failed UA. Obviously samples were being mixed up. I find that to be extremely unprofessional, especially when someone's future is on the line. I was told this would be fixed. So far it's been better but still have placed sample on desk with several other UA samples. I am nervous even doing this. Because I don't need trouble just because of staff carelessness. I hope they can become more professional. Maybe the owner will get things more in order. I got the feeling talking to him that he actually cares. I hope it's real.

I can't say enough good about AVY counseling. Having found myself on the wrong end of a divorce in Utah County, with protective orders issued, I began taking these courses proactively. I signed up for Parenting Course,… Individual Counseling, and Domestic Violence course (which I think would be better coined as an Emotional Regulation course). The ability to do all of these courses online was incredibly helpful, and the communication about times, methods, and course material was spot on. They took care of billing my insurance and followed up with all billing matters in a professional manner. The instructors are highly-skilled, caring, patient, and helpful. I was very grateful for this option. Beth and Carli - I'll miss you both, thank you for everything.

I've had the opportunity to work with several therapists at AVY and had great experiences with each one. They offer services where individuals may be required to attend or court ordered. As a medical provider myself, I… know how incredibly difficult it can be to provide a service leaving every patient satisfied. I imagine patients feeling forced to attend classes or therapy sessions would be even more difficult to please. I was one of those patients who were required to take classes and had absolutely no desire to attend. The reason I give a 5 star review is because they were fantastic to work with during a very frustrating time personally. They are also very fair from a cost POV. I definitely didn't feel they were in this profession to take advantage of people financially. Treatment was very affordable. My job requires me to see a lot of patients in pain and many emergency type procedures often times under sedation. AVY was great to work with me around my schedule and I always tried to communicate with them ahead of time if I couldn't make a class due to work or was out of town. The only recommendation I would give to AVY, is to try and offer more sessions on different days (which I understand isn't always possible depending on therapists schedules). I had the opportunity to work with 3 different therapists and they were all great. Most of my appts were with Carlie and I would 100% recommend her. Nobody was ever judgmental and all were very understanding. As a military vet, I also appreciate the services they offer focusing on helping fellow vets. Therapy can be a stressful, frustrating, and rewarding process. The people at AVY helped me understand the benefit of therapy without ever being judgmental or making me feel shameful for my personal shortcomings. If you're somebody who's questioning or debating about speaking with a therapist, I personally would recommend to try it. Even if it's only a few sessions, there's a lot of good that can come from opening up and accepting help.

If I could leave zero stars I would have. They are super hard to use for classes because they only offer the one I need once per week, so it often doesn't work with my schedule. They put a stipulation in their… assessments that you need to drug test through the completion of the recommendations, which seems pretty standard if they didnt charge 220 bucks for drug tests. You go in and pay 30 to them to mail it to precision toxicology, who then sends you a 190 dollar bill per test in the mail with a threat to send you to collections. Worst place ever to get treatment and now unfortunately I'm stuck with them. In total for what, 20 weeks of treatment it will likely cost me 5 to 6 thousand dollars to complete... worst place ever and unless your a millionaire who wants bad service, I would never recommend them

Horrible lazy service. They continued to charge my insurance for 2 months after I had completed all of my treatment and my court case was closed. I have asked for an invoice 7 times to the same number id contact for… scheduling. They replied for scheduling and I get ignored about invoices unless it’s an automated text containing false info about my insurance and them continuing to charge after my course was completed. I asked many times for a certificate of completion in the month leading up to my court date and I had to call them repeatedly after being put on hold for extended amounts of time. Eventually I contacted my therapist and she was able to write a letter to my lawyer. The office is ran by 3rd graders it seems. But the therapists are great hopefully they go somewhere else and don’t get tied down in this shitshow. Literally go ANYWHERE else.

If seeking treatment please look elsewhere. I’m concerned that a BHT doesn’t know the difference between a Police Report and a Probable Cause Report. Yes, the PC is the sworn affidavit necessary in order for your… Therapist to do a assessment. That is all….carry on. Annnnd if I could post without giving a star I would have.

Horrible, lazy and false promises Took months (6 months) to start my classes I’ve called and they have just hung up They answer after calling multiple times Was told they would help me send a notice to the court about… how they noticed me trying to start classes but couldn’t due to their new faulty system that they started using and promised they would mention it and send it before my court date . Guess what they did ? They Send it hours after my court date and didn’t mention the part where they didn’t help me for months after constant contact with them and blamed me for their actions of not being responsible for their jobs. I have to pay over 800 a month to a v y and they don’t even do their job right . It’s absolutely ridiculous. I don’t seem to be the first one experiencing this issue with them . Staff needs to do better and Surpervisor need to actually supervise

This has been the worst place to ever work with. Constant false promises. No calls no shows from the therapist. Constant lies telling you will hear about getting in the weekly meetings. Run far and run fast before you… ever think of using AVY counseling It’s funny you respond with saying you work with peoples schedules. No you don’t. You have rescheduled me every week since November. Zero cares given. Keep trying to reschedule me during times I’m working. AVY is nothing short of a failure to help people and take care of people in the community. If you truly cared you would stop the same copy pasted reply and actually help others in making sure the therapist can even make it to an appointment. It’s a joke that AVY thinks this is even acceptable.

I’ve been working with Eric at AVY counceling for the past 2 years and I’ve never had a more effective and enjoyable therapist or form of therapy. The Body talk/Mind Body Bridging is absolutely incredible and Eric knows… how to integrate it so effectively. Ive worked with soooo many therapists and doctors and Eric at AVY Counseling it at the very top of my list. Eric far exceeds traditional forms of therapy including “talk therapy” that you can find absolutely everywhere. What Eric does needs to be adopted world wide. My brother also sees him and benefits in the same way. I can’t give a high enough rating.

Im telling you this is the place! Especially if you are involved in any court ordered treatments. They are responsive, timely and reliable in their communication to both the client and the courts. Eric is so kind and… caring. Eric and Bob guided me through a very lengthy court process that ended with wonderful results. I always felt supported, listened to and genuinely cared about. AVY counseling accommodated my time and needs. Pricing is reasonable and most of all you will come away with better skills to navigate the challenges and complexities of life. As a Medical and Mental Health Provider, I fully endorse AVY counseling and the support services they offer.
