Cedar Crest Hospital and RTC – Belton Detox and Rehab Services
Cedar Crest Hospital and RTC – Belton is recorded as offering residential treatment, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient. Structured outpatient runs to a schedule while people return home in the evening. A proper assessment sets the level rather than leaving it to guesswork, and it is worth asking for one explicitly.
The record does not show integrated provision, so confirm this if it matters. It is worth asking how many hours a week the program runs, because that decides whether it fits around everything else.

If I was able to give it no stars!!! But I will give it one. I was in the adult mental facility. The experience was horrible!!! The immature staff besides a handful of full. I felt bad for the ones who actually care… about the job cause I believe it’s hard. They play tug a war with some patients between pods and general. One hall they have a mixture of female and male. Which I believe should be for the handy cap and elderly so nobody will mix. It makes only sense. It was also really hard to sleep cause it was chaos. I can say only 1 night was peaceful during my 6 day stay. You don’t see the dr on weekend and they avoid giving meds that you need especially for detox. So good luck!!! Make sure you don’t have seizures when u come here to detox cause they can care less after 5 on the week day. There is so much wrong with this place. Very unorganized and I already reported this to my insurance. Also they like to call the courts to keep u involuntary.
As much as I am grateful, this place scarred me and ruined my perception of hospitals. I was sent here when Iwas eleven a few years ago, and terrified as it was my first time in a hospital. I was supposed to be given… 2.5mg of a medication called Resperidone, but there was an error and given a 7.5mg. I had server muscle spasms in my neck and struggled to breathe. When I told someone, I was literally held down and given a shot of benadryl. They informed my mother, but didnt bother giving updates or waking me up after I was unconscious from benadryl. My mother asked repeatedly to speak to me, and staff said they will wake me up to speak to her, but never did. Additionally, my roommate was in a fight with three other older patients while nurses did nothing to stop it. This resulted in her breaking an arm and other injuries.
This place changed my life. I’m going to miss the staff from unit 4 dearly, and the friends I made while being there. They were all amazing, caring, genuine people! I hope all the staff on unit 4 see this, and all get a… pay raise! They truly deserve it!
This place is the worst facility, if you can avoid it. I am going to make a complaint with the state about how all the staff that I spoke with, especially the administrator, lied straight to my face about how my… daughter was doing. She did not get the help she needed, instead I feel that it is just making her situation worse. All this place is after is my insurance money. STAY AWAY!!!!
Abuse, neglect, and they don't want you to get better. They prescribed cheap and ineffective medications. Their protocol for events such as anxiety attacks is to put them in room around 15 by 10 ft with a bed in the… middle with a thin mat. Ineffective groups and therapy. Constant flow of contraband and weapons. Substance use inside. Gang like jumping and beatings. Regular fights. Complete lack of education. Lack of medical attention and so many other reasons that make this more comparable to prison than treatment.
I can’t thank this program enough for everything they did for my daughter. When she first arrived, she was scared, emotional, and unsure of what to expect. As a parent, that was hard to watch. But over time, I saw such… a beautiful transformation. She grew to genuinely love the staff, her peers, and the program itself. She always talked about the fun activities, the friendships she made, and how supported she felt every day. It meant so much to know she was in an environment where she felt safe, cared for, and encouraged to grow. The staff treated her with kindness, patience, and compassion, and those are things that I will never forget. By the time it was time for her to leave, she wasn’t ready to go. She had built such strong bonds with the staff and the other kids that saying goodbye was emotional for everyone. Seeing how much she had grown and how much this place had come to mean to her speaks volumes about the incredible people who work here. Of course, no place is perfect. We had one small hiccup during our time here, but it was nothing major and it never took away from the wonderful care my daughter received. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this program to other families. My daughter made lifelong memories, formed meaningful friendships, and experienced love and support from people who truly cared about her well-being. Thank you to every staff member who played a part in her journey. Your kindness, dedication, and compassion made a lasting impact on both my daughter and our family. We will always be grateful. Thanks to all Cedar Crest Staff Members ;) Sincerely Jessica & Alexia B 🩷
I went there when I was 13, I’m 18 now and I’ve finally wanted to write a review. I got jumped by two girls and they were trying to seriously hurt me they told me they tried to drown me in the toilet and the staff… didn’t do anything about it and one of the girls were my roommates. My roommate took my clothes and ripped them up and put them in the toilet! This is the same girl who smuggled a razor in and carved something in her leg. The kids were out of control. Pouring Gatorade all over staff, escaping, having sex, etc. that place is a mess it probably went downhill from there. I also got attacked when I was sitting down waiting for my meds. But they have a pool so
My daughter was here and was discharged without completion (administrative dismissal) and when I pick her up they gave me a package with 3 papers and the wrong diagnosis I have been trying to call for the past 3 days… and no one has called me back, the therapist called back and said that too bad she can give us the information! I need to speak to someone and I can’t reach anyone!
As a former patient (Noah king) I enjoyed this place so much. I was here for about a month and a week because of good behavior I got out fast. Unit 1 was ran wonderfully with wonderful staff treated us to our needs and… went above and beyond when they never had to. I was blessed to also have a wonderful counselor Mrs.winter who doesn’t work there anymore she helped me a ton I will forever be grateful for this place and getting the help I needed would live here if I could I was treated like family and will forever appreciate ms.Nicky, Mr.cedrick, Mr.Eric, ms.Azalea, and more staff along with all of the nurses! Wonderful people and a wonderful place to send your children to get help!
It was actually pretty good I was in unit 3 the therapists were pretty good I couldn’t understand one tho but most of the staff were pretty nice especially Mrs. Tyson and the beds are comfy
I would give Cedar Crest Hospital one star, but there was one very good counselor who genuinely tried to help me, and that deserves to be acknowledged. Beyond that, my experience was miserable. There were too many… issues to list, but the major ones were serious. The food was poor, there was essentially no meaningful therapy, the facility was freezing, and there did not appear to be enough staff for the number of patients. Sleep was nearly impossible because patients were screaming, walking the halls, and making noise throughout the night. The physical condition of the facility was also unacceptable. There was visible black mold in the showers in both rooms I stayed in, which is disturbing in any healthcare setting. The most serious issue came after discharge. I was sent home with the wrong prescriptions. Specifically, I was given another patient’s prescription. That is not a minor administrative mistake. It is a serious medication safety failure. I called the facility, spoke with several people, left messages, and no one ever called me back. As many know, it is never wise to stop medications cold turkey. I do not recommend this facility. Based on my experience, Cedar Crest Hospital has significant problems with staffing, cleanliness, patient care, communication, and basic discharge safety.
Worst place I have ever been. I see no point honestly in posting this since I see the same response from "owner" is a blanket answer, so no one is truly reading these and caring enough to do anything about it. There is… literally zero therapy and nothing to do. I took cold showers the whole time despite telling me we had no hot water. Activity room was so cold it was unbearable so we were basically stuck in our rooms all day and there was no activities in said "activity room" but some coloring pages and cards. It felt more like i was in prison between the "beacon" aka ankle monitor and "where's my straight line" from staff on the way to meals as if we were 5. During my time I was having chest pain and have had past heart attack. They did nothing for 4 hours until finally calling 911. Nurse Chris is an absolute nightmare, creeper. He listened in on my phone call with my attorney. He illegally violated my rights to client/ attorney privilege privacy by listening in telling me to hurry up and trying to take the phone also allowing another patient to stand next to me mocking me for crying. He also was confronted by another patient for going into her room when she was alone and taking a shower like a pervert when he had zero reason to be in there as the nurses only went in if you called for them or they would just call you to come out. My roommate was having severe abdomen pain with very low blood pressure. She was told to drink water and prop her legs up. One girl was attacked by two male patients and knocked down on her first day there. There were several men fighting, yet continued to be allowed to stay amongst the rest of us. I have never felt so unsafe in my life. One male patient kept wandering to the women's side lurking in doorways and they laughed about it. Patients including myself would go to the desk to ask a question or ask for something they needed and staff would literally act like you weren't even standing there. You'd ask for something and 90% time there was no follow through. I asked to see the therapist and doctor several days in a row. Almost every day I asked. I saw my doctor once in the 10 days there and a therapist for about 5 minutes. The rooms are disgusting and depressing. Beds are hard as rocks and the pillows are about a 12" square of nothing. I heard daily patients complaining about not getting their needs met. They also had my gabapentin that I take for neuropathy pain that I've been on for 15 years wrong. They were giving me wrong dose for days and I was bed ridden in so much pain and anxiety. All they had to do was make a 2 minute phone call. it took 4 days for them to do that before they got it right. Then my last 2 days, they started reducing again and had to yell at them to call the pharmacy two more times. Dr. Reggie the one time I saw him and explained all that I have said above knows this is going on and blamed on state funding which may be true but gives employees no right to treat patients like prisoners. This is not a place of therapy or any kind of help whatsoever. If the owner actually reads this, as I said, it is no threat that I plan to sue, it is a fact and have already spoken with an attorney. This place needs shut down. Chris needs fired as well as several other. All day and night they come scan your "ankle monitor" like every ten minutes and during the night they throw open your door loudly and shut it loudly. Zero respect for our sleeping needs. I didn't sleep but one night which was my final night and when asked for something to help my anxiety which was through the roof and what they were giving me was not working, the doctor denied anything. If anyone else on here reads this and would like to be part of a group lawsuit, I think this is the only way to shut them down or make any positive places. It has potential as there are some caring staff like Gloria who was amazing and most all except Chris of the male staff were very sweet.
They ignored my calls for 5 days then called CPS on me when I removed my daughter because they wouldn’t communicate with me. I called 13 times. Only 4 were answered and 3 of those the staff member told me they couldn’t… help me and couldn’t transfer me to the person that could. They said they would get a message to that person to call me. They couldn’t tell me anything about my daughter. They give you a packet promising a call within 72 hours to work with you to develop your child’s treatment plan. I never received that call. When I FINALLY got ahold of the therapist at day 5 she said she was going to call me later that day to discuss my daughter’s discharge plan. I told her at this point I don’t trust anything going on there. If no one can tell me what treatment my child is getting and how she’s doing no one there cares. I asked the provider to discharge her now since they already had a discharge plan for 48 hours later. They told me I could come get her AMA. An hour after I got home the police showed up at my door to do a welfare check. My daughter was a voluntary admit for depression. The staff here did nothing for her but are 3 medications that made her nauseous and tired. They refused to follow their own policies for communication and the rooms we had access to were filthy. If you care about your child don’t send them here. If you just want a break from your kid with zero communication and don’t care if they actually get any real help this is probably the place for you.
My daughter was admitted to Cedar Crest following a mental health crisis, and unfortunately our experience was extremely disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the environment felt more like a detention facility… than a place designed to help adolescents in crisis. The atmosphere was cold and unwelcoming, and the facility appeared dirty and poorly maintained. Rather than feeling like a therapeutic setting focused on healing and support, it often felt as though the children were being punished for needing help. The facility also seemed disorganized. Communication between departments was inconsistent, and it was often difficult to get clear answers about my daughter’s care and the next steps in the process. At one point, when I had questions regarding her treatment and discharge, I was told that no physician was available on-site at that time. For an inpatient behavioral health facility, I expected better access to medical staff and more coordinated communication with families. As a parent, my biggest concern was the lack of communication throughout her stay. The only calls I received were regarding medication authorizations and copayments. No one proactively contacted me to discuss her treatment plan, progress, goals, or discharge planning. I felt completely left out of the process despite being her parent and wanting to be actively involved in her care. I was also informed that a family meeting would not be available until Tuesday, several days after her admission, which was frustrating given the seriousness of the situation. I understand that safety measures are necessary in a behavioral health setting, but there is a difference between maintaining safety and creating an environment that feels institutional, impersonal, and punitive. Children experiencing mental health crises need compassion, encouragement, and a therapeutic environment that promotes healing and recovery. Unfortunately, that was not the impression we received at Cedar Crest. I hope the facility takes steps to improve cleanliness, organization, communication with families, and the overall patient experience so that adolescents and their families feel supported, informed, and treated with dignity during what is often one of the most difficult times in their lives.
Needs to be shut down immediately
Worst hospital ever. I've been here twice, and both times it was a huge mistake. Do NOT go here if you require mental assistance. They didn't even give me the basic rundown when I showed up. Left me on a bed with no… sheets or pillow for 5 hours in paper clothes and underwear for 2 days, even after receiving my clothes the NIGHT I was institutionalized. Oh! When I was released, I left some clothes by accident, and instead of calling me to let me know, they simply stored them. Told them my dietary restrictions, like being a vegetarian and lactose intolerant, and they gave me sandwiches that were literally just meat and bread. My room was almost always dirty. The cleaning person showed up like 1-2x/wk, and my bathroom was lined with ants. As a response to Cedar Crest response: You'd better provide DIRECT link or phone number that someone will respond to IMMEDIATELY or within reason. Im not about to be waiting on y'all AGAIN.
update second time around. Only went sent my daughter because she needed an rtc program close by RTC was ok my daughter kept on getting jumps by other girl in the units. NOW FOR THE PHP Probably the worst program didn't… help my daughter at all. When asked to have her accessed they refused and kicked her out of the program and would not continue care no followup no paper work!!!!!! Three years ago 6 hours waiting in assessment room. No food no drinks forgotten about. My kid is here, I gave clothes to give 3 days ago and she still has not received them. The doctors are super unprofessional no updates. This place needs new management
Obviously not using my real name but I spent around 5 years at Cedar Crest when I was a teenager. I was released from Cedar Crest in 2007 at age 17. Yeah, it's been a while. But while I was there, it was the first place… I'd been to that truly helped me when I'd been to a lot of other places before Cedar Crest. The staff were caring and yeah a little rough around the edges and stern when the had to be but no staff member was abusive while I was there. I wasn't the easy going one either. I caused a lot of problems since I didn't know how to cope with my trauma. I'm a little ashamed to publicly admit that but it is what it is and at the time, it made me feel like I was in control of me. I fought against it for a long time at first. Two or three years honestly. I didn't want the therapy. I didn't want to let go of the trauma because it's all I knew. But a little after I turned 15 I started working the program and really wanting to be better, it was like my entire world shifted. I changed for the better. A lot of what I was taught and the experiences I made with the staff who were working there has stuck with me even now. I don't know what Cedar Crest is like anymore since I'm sure the staff aren't the same but I know being sent to Cedar Crest was the best decision made for me since it helped me become who I am today.
My stay at this mental hospital was really really bad. The staff did nothing to help me mentally and then on top of that I got manipulated by one of the patients and a patient there tried to fight me multiple times for… no reason at all. I did nothing to her and then when I actually wanted to eat for once I got told no and to sit back down. We were basically on house arrest for 2 patients trying to escape and everyone was affected by those 2 patients, even when nobody else did anything. Hated this hospital.
I have a loved one at Cedarcrest Hospital. The staff told me information that I shouldn’t have known because it’s breaking a HIPAA law The patient did not sign any release forms. I know the name of the medication… Risperidone and Ativan and told me his release date 3-2026 and I talked to to the patient on the phone on the phone without him releasing any information to do so . when I called today, March 14, 2026 a nurse told me that I shouldn’t have not had any of the information or I shouldn’t have not talk to him because he did not sign in the release form and she said she was gonna report it to the chief nurse That the nurses on staff gave me information that I was supposed to not have and they also said The patient was taken a medication for mood and anxiety and I talked to the patient on the phone and a patient did not want to take medication but another nurse told me that the patient signed form to take medication. How can a patient sign form to take a medication when he cannot sign a release forms for information to give to his family The therapist, told me the release date The patient was there for 48 hr old and the patient has not been released and the patient is not a danger to self or others. There is something wrong at the Cedarcrest Hospital. The patient told me over the phone that they did not want to take medication so I’m not for sure if they tricking the patient or forcing him into taking medication
They assure you that all items stolen or lost will be reimbursed but that’s a complete lie. I stayed in the residential unit and Abigail stole every single makeup product I owned and I was given absolutely no… reimbursement. Not even given acknowledgment that my items were stolen. The hospital actually insisted to my face that it never happened.
Horrible conditions nasty bathrooms uncomfortable beds and pillows
Great facility that handles patient’s with all kinds of mental health. The staff are very passionate about the work they do and very caring. I have seen patient’s that other facilities could not manage receive care at… Cedar crest and did well. The entire team have excellent collabration skills to provide the best care. This facility cares so much about their staff too and provide opportunity for staff growth.
Do not send your children here, it is more of a prison. There's so much racism in there it's ridiculous. If you are not black then you are an outcast. You send your child there in hopes that they have people there that… will care and help them with their mental disability but instead they are frowned upon and favoritism is a role played in their. I will be calling the advocate for that facility and hopefully she will crack down on something. And my honest opinion they need to shut this place down completely it is a joke. Oh and because of the deplorable conditions and the fact that the staff is not responsible and decides to come to work when they're sick and does not segregate children that are sick my daughter has the flu now so I ripped her out of there and brought her to McClain hospital where she's getting the treatment and the care that she actually needs so that we can find a better facility for her to go to
There are no words to express the gratitude and satisfaction I have for Cedar Crest. The help I received was spectacular. To Tia, Traci, Kim, Kevin and the entire staff, much love and appreciation! I will be eternally… grateful.
Great people, great staff!
ln my hour of need I found angels a plenty, especially Ms. Tia, Mr. Eric and Ms. Barbara. Thank you all for keeping us safe and helping us heal when we need help the most. 💞🎶☀️
when I was here, I got the help I needed, but the staff was horrible except for two of them other than that, this place was horrible. I hated it there, I had my charm bracelet that I came in with from Laurel Ridge and… it got stolen when it was supposed to be in safekeeping so by the time I got discharged it was gone, if I ever needed help again I would never go here again!

Was everything my daughter needed! Helped her tremendously! She has ODD, ADHD, MDD, and conduct disorder . We lived in Illinois and they kept us very informed of her care and progress. Bent the rules (as a reward) so we could come and spend the day with her as we didn't live close by for visits. Easy process to get her there!
