Cincinnati VA Medical Center – Cincinnati Detox and Rehab Services

Recorded services at Cincinnati VA Medical Center – Cincinnati are detox, residential treatment and intensive outpatient. Detox runs under medical supervision, and the first three days carry the highest risk with alcohol and benzodiazepines. Sessions follow a set timetable while people keep living at home. Anyone unsure which level fits should ask for an assessment rather than choosing from a list, since placement criteria exist precisely to make that judgement.

Only one side is on record here, so ask directly if both are needed. Approved medication is paired with counseling and regular review. Ask directly about session times and frequency, as those details decide whether someone can realistically attend.

I been coming to the va for some time now and I know there is construction going on but today was horrible at the 2nd fl blood bank, I been sitting here for almost 1 hour and they only have 1 station open while I seen… plenty of employees it has never taken that long to get blood drawn, then after sitting for ever the 1st thing is your dr. ordered a urine sample well after sitting there i had no idea a pee cup, otherwise I would have asked for a pee cup so then y

Went today to get a Veterabs medical card they closed at. 3:30p I show up at 3:02p they tell me the machine is inoperable because they didn’t want to help me so close to closing time which is totally unprofessional and… improper then those same people say “Thank you for your service”. TOTAL RHETORIC AND DISINGENUOUS BULL CRAP

I have a very mixed review. My uncle was in the care of the VA from Jan 6 to his death May 30. They transferred him from 1 medical center to another 7 times and lost most of his belongings. I have called SEVERAL times… to try to get help in retrieving his items. Called multiple times. Requested call backs. Never received 1 at all. I cannot close out ANY of his accounts due to his phone and wallet being with one of those centers However....MOST of the caregivers that took care of him were amazing. And some were not. Wish they had let us know BEFORE each transfer. I would've went and packed his belongings for him. He was bed ridden and couldn't do it. They knew this. Like I said. I have a very mixed review. Sad really

I received prompt and attentive care for a medical emergency. During my hospital stay my nurses, Anita and Josh, were great and did their best to make me comfortable. The team of doctors saw me multiple times a day,… starting promptly every morning, and took the time to call and communicate daily with my wife at home. I was impressed with the level of care at the hospital.

I've been a patient at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center for 15 years and have received terrific care by some of the finest people! Very caring, professional and competent! Additional Specialists to the staff would be… helpful with needs of the Veterans! Thank You Cincy VAMC

I had a very positive experience during my visit to the Cincinnati VA Medical Center. From the moment I arrived, the entire staff was welcoming, professional, and extremely helpful. Everyone I encountered treated me… with respect and made the visit smooth and comfortable. I would especially like to recognize Barbara Yankson Akoto. She was outstanding. Dr. Yankson Akoto took the time to listen to my concerns, explained everything clearly, and made sure I understood my care. Her professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail truly stood out. It is clear Dr. AKOTO and her entire team care about the veterans they serve, and I am very grateful for the excellent care I received.

I am fairly new to the Cincinnati VA, but I must say that the care I have received there so far is as good as I have received anywhere. Better than some. Everyone is polite and courteous. Updated review. If you need… assistance through the community care office expect them to sit on your request for a week and then have listen to them make excuses like beign short staffed. Then the PATIENT advocate takes the VA's side in everything in NOT the patient. Also the mental health clinic in Ft. Thomas just leaves you haning waiting to hear if and when you can be seen. I've been waiting 2 months for care and they continue to make excuses about how busy they are. No calls, no updates, just left hanging in the wind.

Man at reception window one at 10:50 am ish. Refused to allow us to see family member we came in with. When we were his transportation and told us to just leave and refused to give him our phone number. Took another… nurse to bring us back. Sad they were willing to leave a sick veteran in the ER to be stranded on top of it all.

We are so thankful for each and everyone. Danny Abner and family

Not all the veteran administration are bad people. I was seeking help from them but the continue to be corrupt. I originally had 10 percent for hearing lost and I went in to upgrade my percentage for tenitus and now… they are saying I was rated for tenitus. So some official changed my documentation. I was originally trying to upgrade my disability for major depression and they said they were going to send me an evaluation to me by email and they never did. The staff at the Va hospital continue to lie to me and write something different down. Just a theory but they have been recruiting veterans with drug problems to come harass me and try to take advantage of me.

Hard to give a review on this system, because it is a whole multifaceted system. Mostly theyre good people working there, but some people work there that i dont think would get abjob elsewhere. They dont care about what… surgeries/procedures cost, but then cheap out on the prescription eyeglasses that they offet. As a va medical system, they get a solid 4 starts. In compared to a comparable civilian sysem, they’re a three star if generous: Few foibles: they will pass out ssri’s like candy but anything “that has street value) they are loathe to prescribe to veterans. ESPECIALLY if youre PTSD and ESPECIALLY if you have a history of substance use including alcohol.if you have a history of alcohol, its probably good to be honest, but dont overplay it to your provider.

I have never met a group of warmer, more professional, more personable people than I have found at this hospital. I have had excellent care in the two years I have been able to use the facility, and I would recommend… them to anyone.

I have been coming here since 2019. VA hospitals get allot of bad rep but I have never had long waits for appointments. All the staff are polite and professional. My follow up appointments are always scheduled within… reason. When ever they believe I might have a medical issue they have always been quick to recognize that and schedule tests same day or next day. Even though I live closer to the Louisville, KY hospital I will continue to choose this as my primary care facility.
