For those facing their addictions and trying to live a clean life, Denver Women's Recovery has several options for support. No residential, but there are several groups and I have found them extremely helpful. Highly… recommend!
I’m probably one of DWR’s biggest fans at this point, and for good reason. From day one, I was met with compassion and a community of women who understood what I was going through. Shout out to the incredible therapists… and staff, including Crystal, Amanda, Alex, Katie, Dr. Bader, Skylar, Macie, Lily, and MJ. Thank you for believing in me, pushing me to grow, have a different perspective, and putting up with my sarcasm along the way 😉. The therapists and staff encouraged me to do the hard work of looking beneath the surface. They helped me rebuild my self-worth and reminded me that recovery is more about holistic healing, learning to trust yourself again, finding hope, and building a life worth protecting, and living! Today, I show up in the world differently, because of the staff at DWR that taught me how. I’m far from perfect, but I’m more aware of the patterns that brought me here, more willing to have the hard conversations, a rooted knowledge and sense of who I am, and a whole toolkit I can pick up and practice. I don’t have it all figured out, but I have hope, a support system, and a life that I genuinely enjoy today. The relationships I built there continue to be some of the most meaningful I’ve found. I found genuine friendship, hope, and a support system that has stayed with me long after treatment ended. What has meant the most is knowing that DWR will be there long after you leave. They made it clear they would be there if I needed them, and they’ve continued to live out that promise. Knowing I always have DWR in my corner is something I won’t take for granted. If you’re scared to take the first step, my advice is simple: just jump in. Choosing Denver Women’s Recovery was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, and I’m forever grateful for the role they played in helping me reclaim my life- I truly believe they helped save it.
The staff at Women’s Recovery truly care. They are compassionate, supportive, and committed to helping women build healthy, lasting recovery. We are grateful for the kindness and professionalism shown throughout the… process! Admissions team is wonderful and SO easy to talk to!
Great place Alexa is ok Good experience
DWR has been amazing for my mental health healing. This place saved my life. It truly is a home away from home where they help women by welcoming them without judgement and with such kindness. I would not be the woman I… am today without the support from Alex, Rachel, Lilly, and Crystal. You women are absolutely amazing and I thank you so much for all your love and support … and allowing me to cry, laugh, crash out, and be myself… and of course hold me accountable in my recovery. And let’s not forget also allowing me take over the couches and floors when I wanted to sleep.. lol. The therapists are amazing and the approach to healing with group therapy, individual therapy, learning and practicing coping skills, educational learning about trauma and our brains and bodies, and psych doctors on site is absolutely invaluable to any woman who is struggling with mental health or addiction. I will forever be connected to DWR and will forever remain an Alumni who is so grateful for the opportunity I was given to be a part of this program. The friendships and community I have grown from here will remain in my heart forever.
Denver women’s recovery helped to save my life. Staff really cares and is knowledgeable.
In July 2025, I started IOP at DWR which was the best decision I ever made. Their staff are supportive and extremely knowledgeable; special shoutout to Rachel, Amanda, and Crystal for all of their endless support!… During IOP, I relapsed more than once and was never treated differently because of it. Instead of criticizing my decisions, DWR provided me with the support and safe space to work through my relapses while still holding me accountable. I have now been sober just over one year and even though I am the one who makes the decision to continue my sobriety everyday, I owe DWR for giving me the tools and confidence to do so. Thank you DWR for saving my life when I had almost given up and helping me create a life worth living.
I was referred to Denver Women’s by another treatment center. I initially valued connecting with admissions as they were passionate about their work and walked along side me. After my phone intake, I was asked to get a… psych evaluation at Denver Health despite leaving residential and being cleared for a lower level of care. However, after I was cleared and given documentation to give to Denver Women’s, I was dropped and never contacted back despite texts and voicemails. Additionally, admissions from Denver Women’s conveyed false information to Denver Health. Although I could understand admissions concerns if the information they provided Denver Health were true, they were not. Instead of clarifying with me, wildly inappropriate assumptions were made about me that even Denver Health providers did not support. Unfortunately, I received a giant bill and due to being out of state, I do not qualify for any financial assistance. Still being in treatment, and having been unemployed since 24, this is a major financial burden for me. Denver Women’s needs to grow in clear direct communication, not giving promises they cannot keep, and not dropping clients, especially in their line of work. Their program sounded wonderful and at the time it was devastating being dropped.
I was going to go hear but after reading the reviews forget it people have had the worst experience there.and the people writing the good reviews are people who work there or family of people who work there this is sad… and I hope this gets investigated and either shut down or new workers
The greatest clinical experience a woman can have when struggling with substance abuse and mental health.
Denver women’s recovery has saved my life twice now. All I needed was honesty, willingness and an open mind. The clinicians are incredibly accepting and caring. They work with schedules and provide countless resources.… As well as a deep dive into the education side of addictions and trauma. I started on 2020 and have not had a drink since
DWR literally saved my life. When I first entered the program I was a beyond broken 21 yr old who thought their life would definitely end in incarceration. After leaving a correctional facility, doing a full treatment… program I had no where to go. DWR full forced swept in and welcomed me with open arms. The community within DWR is something I forever will hold near and dear to my heart. They helped me become an independent sober women and words could never be enough to express my gratitude. If you feel there is no hope left and your life is near the end, DWR is the life present you need. From dissecting your mental health and trauma to find the roots of your addictions is just a thin layer of what they offer. If you are a hopeless dope fiend DWR will change that mindset into a dope-less hope fiend! Get the help you deserve and start here.
Everything about Denver Women’s Recovery was home the minute I walked through the doors. DWR was everything I needed at every level of my rock bottom. Every staff member played a pivotal role in my time at DWR. I am… thankful for the way each part of the IOP program was run and how the curriculum was delivered. I grew into who I am as a person through IOP and OP processing groups led by great facilitators in a safe environment. I felt free to be me at all times and never once felt judged for being who I am. I also had the pleasure of living with and developing a community with a strong and courageous group of warriors of women. All of my experiences at DWR and the home I found there helped me to transform into the woman I am today.
No other way to say it, other than this place changed my life. I was at DWR for almost 15 months which is a tad longer than the intended timeline of their program :) I kept coming back because I knew I wouldn’t find a… better place to heal, and they never gave up on me. Their staff is supportive, kind and extremely capable. (Special shout outs to Amanda, Zoe, Laura, Venus and Queen Bader) They all genuinely care about each of their clients and provide a safe space to foster growth and healing for all types of women and their families. I had the pleasure of working with so many members of the staff, in all areas of the organization, and could go on for days about what they have to offer and the difference they’ve made in my life, as well as my family’s. They are consistent, professional, responsive, and provide services that encompass all aspects of life in recovery. No program is perfect, and they are receptive to feedback and I’ve witnessed their efforts to continue growing and improving, which to me is the mark of an exceptional program. Of all the treatment facilities I’ve experienced, Women’s Recovery provided the most comprehensive, expert, community driven, women focused programming environment. I’m endlessly grateful for their unrelenting care and support and would absolutely recommend their services to any woman for support in their recovery journey.
Women’s Recovery is amazing! They truly empower women.
Through ASSmosis... I found Clarity, Connection and HOPE. Grateful to have witnessed life being pumped back into so many of my group mates – caterpillar to butterfly transformations. One unforeseen blessing that has… been a pleasant surprise is the net of support from so many incredible BADASS group mates/alum - we continue to encourage one another that Recovery must remain OUR daily priority. Oh! I must share about Lola. Lola is just the most cutest flippin' Animal-Assisted Social Work pup that joined the WR team after my time. I gotta say that I’m a bit jealous of all the current and future clients that get to share space with this precious little gift. Last bit of advice… Remain teachable! Try to leave your armor at the door - they can’t help US if WE don’t let them. Also, try to remember WE show up to treatment with A LOT of baggage and it’s going to be messy 🙏🏼 Allow compassion for yourself and others 🙏🏼 My DWR experience forever changed my life.
This place sincerely saved my life ❤️
Top notch clinical work, great family programming, dedicated, diligent, compassionate staff. The work my sister did there empowered her to find happiness in sobriety. Thank you Women's Recovery for giving me my sister… back!
DWR was exactly what I needed when I relapsed after 4 years of sobriety. I had moved to the area recently and didn't know many people yet. I felt very alone and isolated. DWR helped me re-connect with people and get… back on track with my sober life. This was my 2nd IOP experience. DWR's approach is much different than my first experience in that they are VERY trauma informed which was super important for me, and they encourage you to make connections with your peers outside of group. The women in my cohort are AMAZING. I feel very supported and safe with them. I really loved the counselors who ran the groups, and I LOVED my individual therapist. She gave me unconditional positive regard, she was very present, and she gave me validation and affirmation that I needed very much on some difficult life experiences that I hadn't gotten from some prior therapists. The staff at DWR is hands down the best. They listen to suggestions and make changes based on input from their clients. I was impressed by that. I opted to do the continuing outpatient group after I finished IOP. This felt like a safety net while I explored different support groups outside of DWR. My experience was great, and I am deeply grateful to the awesome women at DWR.
After reading Hannah’s review, I have the courage to write my own. I have positive and negative things to say about Denver Women’s Recovery. I attended their IOP program in the Summer of 2022. There are stunning reviews… for this place, but several years ago. Perhaps it has gone downhill. The positive aspects: their curriculum is top notch! They have so much knowledge about addiction and trauma. It is thorough and helpful. And the general staff is nice and accepting. However, I had bad experiences with several therapists and their medical director. My individual therapist was Karina and I really liked her, but she left DWR and my substitute seemed to not have enough experience for my needs. I was pushed to share my relapse with the group when I did not feel safe to do so. When I did share it in group therapy, despite my intuition, the group leader Rachel used shame and aggression, and even cursed at me in front of everyone. I felt bullied. This only solidified my unsafe feelings and triggered me more. To top it off, I tried to get medical help for my PTSD and anxiety that became exacerbated by this incident and my relapse, and I was pushed away! Sandra, the medical director who prescribes medication, agreed to meet with me to talk it through (I was never actually able to see her face to face which was also a problem, it was always on zoom). After 10 min of describing my symptoms, asking for options on medications and alternate therapies, and sharing my desperations, she rudely said “why are you crying so badly? I have to go; I have another meeting”. She promised she would get me some help/advice later that day and if it wasn’t her, someone else would definitely call me. I never heard from her or anybody. By this point, I was mentally off and not doing well. I still finished out IOP functioning on a thread and then transferred to OP but only stayed a week. For me, their therapeutical approach was causing more harm than good, and I did not experience compassionate care at all. Almost a year later, I have finally started to look for other IOP’s because I still need help. But I was so traumatized by my experience there, I have been putting it off. Others may have thrived at DWR, but I did not. I do not need a google response from DWR as it will only upset me more. My grievances were shared at the time I left OP so hopefully this is not the first time you are hearing about it. And if it is, therein lies another problem. This review is for the people that need help like I did. My advice to clients: try the program for its vast knowledge, but advocate for good therapists and clinicians and do not put up with bullying or shame.
I lived at the sober living and did IOP and OP there a little over 1.5 years ago. It was a great place to get sober. Of course there is always some issues when you have several girls living there together but there was… really no issue with the staff. I followed two women that helped there when they started their own therapy businesses who i still work with to this day because of how amazing they were when I was a client there. My therapist, Sharon, was the BEST therapist I have ever had. She helped work through trauma and grief while i was there which has lead to me being over 2 years sober now. I made life long friends with the girls in the house. I had the option of having my own room and bathroom which made things so much easier for me after sharing a room with a ton of girls in rehab. The size of the house made it easy to get alone time and the location is easily accessible for people who do not drive. I loved having access to a gym in the house. I watched movies and shows every night in the theater. The only reason Im not giving 5 stars is because i had a negative experience with Rachel, a therapist there. Other than that my time there was great and is what kept me sober.
It has taken me a month of thought on whether or not to write a review. I see the potential DWR has given the concept of the program. However, there are a lot of cracks in the leadership team that need to be addressed… and strengthened in order to deliver ethical, safe and quality treatment. I spent 3 months in the sober living house and IOP. I loved my time at the house because the women living there made it a home, I got lucky with the community of women. However, the house is not run well with a lack of communication across the board and we continuously ran out of toilet paper, trash bags, cleaning supplies and went weeks without a working vacuum. More importantly is the clinical aspect. My experience with my individual therapist and the clinical side of things were atrocious. My therapist, Rachel English, used intimidation, power, aggression and shaming to affirm her position as a therapist. She crossed moral and ethical guidlines, not just with myself, and defended herself by stating, “I’m a damn good therapist with 20 years of experience” and “you’re entitled to your own opinion”. It was a defeating, unsafe and a hurtful experience. When I asked to switch to a different therapist after 2 months of trying to make it work with her, she became defensive and angry, calling me names and kicking me out of her office. Also, while I was there, the clinical staff was primarily made up of college interns hovering in their early 20s; it decreased the overall quality, expertise and experience brought to and executed in the therapeutic experience. The team at DWR were not open to feedback, although I hope for the program and future clients, they choose to reevaluate their leadership approach to run a more smooth, cohesive and safe environment for clients to engage in their recovery.
Denver Women’s Recovery was the best thing to happen to me in my sobriety journey. By fully committing myself to DWR’s incredible IOP program and individual therapy sessions, I am whole again where I used to feel empty.… I am authentically happy and my marriage has healed. Sobriety has given me back my beautiful life and I am so thankful that DWR taught me how to continue growing in this direction. I couldn't recommend Denver Women's Recovery more.
I was treated with compassion which has led me to become vulnerable, helpful and comfortable with who I am becoming. The comprehensive program was exactly what I needed. The program not only deals with the addiction but… also with what brought you to your addiction. Meeting with other women who were going through the same transformation, meeting with my counselor, a psychiatrist who understands addiction and my recovery coach has been invaluable to my recovery. If you are needing recovery, do not hesitate to give DWR a call. I promise you will be glad you did. It has changed my life for the better.
