Gaines and Associates – Richmond

Imagine finally getting the courage to go to therapy and after two sessions realizing you need to go more than once a week to get all of this out and your therapist telling you that she doesn't think you need to go… twice a week. Why? Because I have developed the skills to be cool on the surface and a fully functional adult all while drowning inside? She said she would have to ask her supervisor if I could go twice so I pushed the issue saying if I can't see her twice a week I will get a second therapist. Now imagine getting a phone call from Shelby the office manager saying that she has canceled my appointments and their office will no longer see me because they do not think I need to be seen twice a week so they cannot provide the care I need. And you guys wonder why therapists have such a mixed reputation and why so many people choose not to go to therapy. I know they see people multiple times a week that's not even an issue. What y'all did is completely unethical and I will be filing a complaint with the state. And if they try to pull the we don't recognize your name in our client management system bs to try and deflect this review I have plenty of proof that I went there

Caring staff and just a wonderful experience. James Armstrong is a great counselor with a lot of knowledge.

Joe was great. He was super helpful and really patient and easy to talk to.

This place is absolutely amazing. I have never had a bad experience with them. My therapist and case manager are more than happy to help any way they can.

Mary Foster is an exceptional therapist. She is personable, and doesn't make you feel like you're just putting everything out for display while taking notes silently. She is genuinely trying to build a professional but… comfortable enough connection to be able to get to the issues at hand. I would 100% recommend her and G&A Counseling to anyone.

A class that was much needed & Mr. Armstrong made the class very knowledgeable, kept the class entertaining. I hope I never see him again, but if I do I’ll be back to G & A.
