MPI Treatment Services – Oakland Reviews and Ratings
Read reviews of MPI Treatment Services in Oakland from patients, their loved ones and professionals who know the program, with further reviews gathered from around the web.
MPI is an excellent place for anyone seeking a safe, medically assisted detox from drugs or alcohol. The nurses were compassionate and attentive, the doctors were knowledgeable and supportive, and the facility was clean… and well maintained. There is a structured daily schedule, but if you’re not feeling well, you’re encouraged to rest and focus on your recovery. The facility also has a phone and laptop policy, but if you have a legitimate need to use your devices, the staff is willing to work with you to find a reasonable solution. Visitation is held on Sundays, but loved ones can bring approved items for patients any day of the week, which is a thoughtful way to stay connected and supported during treatment. Overall, I had a very positive experience at MPI and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a professional, compassionate, and supportive environment to begin their recovery journey.
I was there a little more than 4 years ago. I was withdrawing from a super heavy Xanax addiction. The withdrawal was the scariest thing that I've ever been through but they used medically assisted treatment to taper me… off. I went through hell and back but they almost got me through it. Luckily they knew how to treat me. They sent me to the mental health department when things got really bad and then I came back for the rest of my treatment. The groups and counselors are great and very informative and educational. The nurses on the other hand were horrible and didnt understand what was happening with me during withdrawal. I told them I was hallucinating and scared and didn't know where I was in the middle of the night but they just told me to go back to my room. I begged for help and was scared to death but they wouldn't help me. They ended up transporting me to mental health when I was blacked out and out of control. The food was really good and I loved the weekend special dinners the clients would order.
They don’t accept Medi-cal. Please remove them as a recommendation on Google.
I went to Mpi 5 -6 yeas ago on a scholarship . Wasn’t working has no money and somehow luckily got in on a scholarship. The director which at the the time don’t know if he still there was an Africa American man and on… meet and greet first meeting he took $2000 I had to go to the bank he said it’s a scholarship but $2000 upfront cash . He took it from me which is everything I had . I later was talking to the social worker at the end of my month and she said something along the lines of you are here on a scholarship ansi said no I gave the director $2000 so it’s not really a scholarship. She said ,”what do you mean “? I told her and it was brushed under the rug. Corrupt and not would I like my money back . Unbelievable. I told the counselor later on and even she said “wait but you shouldn’t have paid anything you had a scholarship” nothing was ever said after that and I never saw my $2000 again .
Angus cloud mcbain is disgusting in and out if you get him as a councelor I’m so sorry especially as a women. The way I was made to feel like what I was saying was ingenuine and as he called a me trying to be better… than others drove me crazy, or even ingenuine to receive help. He called me out infront of a group of recovering individuals including myself which made me so uncomfortable and embarrassed. I relaped as soon as I got out which was way earlier then I expected to leave because I felt so unsafe around him. I’m glad to say I’m four weeks sober today. I think about his neglect of respect towards clients everyday.
This place completely changed my life. They run a top notch program and the highly attentive staff see to all your needs with no problems. Doctor Kayman is extremely knowledgeable about the brain and the counseling… staff is amazing as well, always offering a listening ear and great advice to help any problems that may arise while in treatment. I would like to personally thank counselors Burt, Sharon and Angus for helping me so much while I was there and needed support. Thank you MPI for everything you do!
Omg the nurses at mpi are sooo good hearted and smart. They’re knowledgeable and so extremely kind. Definitely left a footprint on my heart when I went to detox in Oakland.
OMG this place is amazing and work miracles up on that 5th floor in 28 days! Not sure about having to be a celebrity or whatever that one post said unless they are talking about ghetto celebrities. Terry and the staff… he gots up on the 5th floor are the bombdigity trust and believe me on dat one fsho. They blessed me with my life back Dr Kayman is a blessing from above and I will be forever grateful for everyone of there all of them will be missed by me fsho. Just walked out that joint yesterday morning and it's the best thing that happened to me in my 47 years on this planet. All I can say is you better get you some if you need some treat yourself instead of beating yourself you heard me. MPI know I love you all forever!!!! All my special ones know who you are!!!!!!! Love always Mike R.
This place has gone down hill over the years and the price has sky rocketed. If you leave a negative post they will report to Google. This is only for first time or high bottom users. DO NOT go here if you have been to… more than one treatment before they aren't equiped. They want celebs. I was calling everyday sicker and sicker and I was told we are discussing your administration. After five days I was told this program wasn't suitable for me. I changed plans and almost died. Way better rehabs in Marin county and even CFR for your money. Administration lacks compassion ... This wasn't always the case.
They saved my life. Great, loving place. Quality healthcare and outstanding substance abuse counseling. Nursing staff is friendly and accommodating, beds are warm and the food is great. These guys helped me turn my life… around.
