Not once have they returned a call for over a month during a life threatening health crisis that they recognized.
Their staff told us our daughters autism can be reversed, mis-scheduled her 4 times for skills training, and obviously do not keep notes on her diagnosis. Calling this place a medical resource center is an insult to… anyone in the medical field.
Most of the staff are incredibly rude, communication here is nonexistent I’m convinced, and the providers here are judgmental and label most patients as “drug seeking”. Faye in particular is NOT a “professional” I would… recommend to my worst enemy! This place truly has gone downhill.
Good going screwing up my daughter‘s appointment yesterday then today you get my phone number wrong and then ask me after waiting for a month if I want to reschedule no I don’t. That’s my sign that I don’t wanna talk to… anymore! But great going with one person quitting and screwing up my child then the very next day you don’t know how to read a phone number. That’s really how Health no
I have some mixed emotions regarding Bowen, however I have ran across more bad than good at this mental health facility. To start off, Werner Wolff (Psychiatry) is phenomenal. I can’t say enough good, my husband and I… both see him and he’s very compassionate and caring. He really takes the time to make a physician-client relationship and he actually remembers you at every appointment. He really shows he cares and wants to help you get better/reach your goals. I am sad he is leaving and wish him the best. I also seen Hani Ahmad when Werner was on vacation and I don’t have any bad to say about him either. He was very educated and I felt confident in his advice and course of action. He was sympathetic to my needs and allowed me to suggest what I wanted as well. I have also ran across a licensed therapist by the name of, Mercedes Horace. For being a “therapist” she sure lacks the empathy and sympathy of this job. She cuts you off, interrupts, assumes and is just plain rude. I had one appointment with her and she interrogated my husband more than anything. I tried telling her our situation and she cut me off, rudely, and proceeded to question him. She assumed and pressured me into saying I did things that I really didn’t, went completely off topic as to why I was there and acted like I was just a waste of time. She is part of the reason I am afraid of seeing another therapist, terrible first impression. My husband also had the same idea and refuses to see one now as well. My husband has seen Fay Roberts-Montague(Psychiatry). He seen her first then switched to Werner. She didn’t ask him any questions regarding why he was there, wasn’t very friendly, lied and said he had drugs in his system, then when the drug test from lab corp got sent to his email, it said otherwise. Was also pretty late to both appointments. Had a very judgmental tone as well, we both got the impression she looked down at us with disgust due to our situation and she was just plain rude as well. Werner had to ask my husband multiple questions she should have asked him to give him the proper care and medication. The phone, nurses, and office people are honestly some of the best staff this place has and this place is supposed to be filled with psychiatrists and therapist who should have empathy and sympathy towards drug addicts and mentally ill people but I’ve honestly been shown more support and kindness on the street. If it wasn’t for Werner Wolff we would have left long ago. Whoever fills his shoes has some high expectations to meet.
First psychiatrist I seen was rude kind of just said I was doing drigs when I wasn't like my pee came back clean nothing in it tried saying I smoked marijuana I don't like marijuana I was addicted to fentanyl I wouldn't… go smoke weed I would smoke fetty second off I'm giving a 4 star because the guy I see now is amazing and caring and actually talks to you and listens to you and helps people he's the best person I've ever seen it's sad that August will be his last month because he was truly amazing he helped my wife and me and we would do our appointments together he made our journey to sobriety really easy and really helped us get there.
My experience at the Huntington Bowen center has been great. The staff is helpful and always willing to accommodate me. My son and I both go here. I'd like to mention the wonderful caregivers who have bettered our… lives. Firstly, Erin Hollowell is amazing with children. She's worked with my son and we've had family sessions that have resolved issues that seemed hopeless. She offers realistic advice and provides a plan that can help future issues. I appreciate how well she is able to articulate both side's perspectives and offer valuable feedback without undermining either of us. Fay Montague is a wonderful doctor who diligently worked to come up with a plan to help our family. It took months to see an improvement but she was persistent and showed our family so much compassion during one of the hardest times of our lives. I went from feeling endless frustration and wanting to give up to feeling hope for the first time in months and finally the results that we prayed for. Aaron Crump is an amazing therapist. He is so insightful and smart. He is able to reframe my situations in such a way that my perception shifts. Instead of offering pointless validation he challenges me by asking questions that lead me to a better understanding. It's so helpful when I'm feeling stuck in an unhealthy thought cycle and has improved my self esteem so much. I'm more reflective and have more self compassion. Don't let the other reviews persuade you. Our Bowen center is filled with providers who consistently do their best to improve the lives of their patients. This location is so much better than the ones in the surrounding community. Thank you for all you do.
I dont know why the rating is the way it is, I come here for mental health therapy and I think so far that my therapist is great and I am a very hard man to get along with because of my physical and mental health trauma… in my past. My therapist, Brandy, is excellent and listens, and is also very real. I have been with Bowen for many years through Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, and now Huntington. I currently live in Indianapolis and travel over two hours one way to come to therapy, this is how good Bowen is in my eyes.
Very unprofessional to show up for appointments just to be told it was canceled. To have it happen regularly is ridiculous. I see no proof that they care about anyone's mental health. Seems like all they see are dollar… signs.
Terrible. Very unfriendly so called doctor.Staff was ok ,however she tried to put me on depression meds when that is clearly not what I was there to get treated for.
Awful receptionist and psychiatrist wouldn't recommend to anyone
It literally takes me almost 4 days to get ahold of my Dr. For any kind of refills. I'm on day 3 currently and everyone claims they try to reach the Dr. But never hear anything back.
Medical discrimination to the extreme. If possible to leave 0 stars would do. The variety of staff go by extremes. Communication is garbage. Getting in to see medical professionals in a timely manner is spaced months… out. God forbid you seek treatment and be met with judgement and disdain. The informal, unprofessional, impromptu, and unequivocally oppressive nature of the program is distasteful to say the least. Suggestion of the day; search for other programs or institutions.
I was a patient here for over a year for mental health services basically because there's no where else to go! This place needs to be put under investigation and shut down! It's a complete joke!! I've seen people being… favored by doctors with my own eyes given meds they shouldn't be on and the doctors are in on it for a quick buck!! For the ones like me tho who actually have mental health issues and need medicine, the doctors and nurses both don't care about you. Instead they will prescribe you a bunch of mental health meds, one of which that I was personally on could give you severe heart issues when stopped without cutting back. EVERY SINGLE MONTH I had to fight to get my meds sent to the pharmacy. The nurses blame my doctor and my doctor blames the nurses. The last nurse actually blamed a world shortage at the pharmacy on why my meds weren't being sent over lol as if this could explain why a doctor isn't sending over my prescriptions. Half the time you call in and it's not being documented and they have maybe two good nurses out of the bunch who actually care. They tell you the doctor has 48 hours to respond which is bullcrap because I've went over a week waiting for my doctor to send over my meds MANY MONTHS and guess what they do nothing so why tell people the doctor has 48 hours?! It's funny tho how making a call to the administration and you will have your meds sent over within hours. This place needs to be shut down and put under investigation. They are dealing with people's mental health and between the illegal activity and how they treat their real patients, something needs to change!
If your a parent trying to do reunification therapy, prepare yourself to lose your entire relationship with the child, especially if your male. These so called professionals are some of the most unethical, manipulative… people I've ever met. They are refusing to let me speak to my child and have been for almost a year. This is because I refuse to lie to my child. They even told me to stop being so defensive over losing my child. They actually believe their policy trumps laws and refuse to follow court orders unless it benefits them. When my child wanted to speak to other family like grandparents or and aunt, they flat out refused and essentially isolated her from her blood family. They actually tolde several times that the other parents don't have to follow the rules but if I don't there's repercussions. Lastly, they believe that parental alienation is a legal term and they didn't understand that. This was said by someone with a master's degree and experience with children. This place needs shut down and those who are involved in unethical practices should lose their license and Bowen needs sued.
If I could give Bowen Center of Huntington a 0 out of 5 starts I would! If you are able to find another facility or Doctor to treat you, definitely take my word and do so!.. I called them last week to refill my… prescription, it said they were out on a meeting. which was fine.. I called them today, and needed a refill on my prescription or just enough medication to get me until Thursday (WHEN MY APPOINTMENT IS, THAT THEY SCHEDULED). I dont take Narcotics.. I told the lady "so i have to go 4 days without my medication" she said "it will be 3 days" i said "Okay my bad.. 3 days I will have to go without my medication?" she responded "Well i cannot change what she says" Okay get it to an extant... I would understand if this was a controlled substance, but it isnt.. my previous appt. I had to reschedule due to my disabled mother breaking her arm!!! I couldnt really help it.. The lady could not have been any ruder on the phone.. I wasnt even asking for the whole 30 day prescription i was just asking for enought to get me until my appt in 3 days!
My goodness! They will not return a phone call! The Bowen Centers's mission statement and charter is to help mentally ill patients! I asked my psychiatrist for a refill of medication. No response what- so-ever! I would… understand their reluctance to fill a medication that was a controlled substance. This medication is not! It's Welbrutrin for goodness sakes! I'm not understanding their delay in filling it. It makes no sense to me. I've decided that I will stop inquiring about the refill. If anything the medication relieves the depression and anxiety nominally. This is ridiculous. I've no intention of inquiring any further. If they've that many patients that they cannot deal with refilling a non-scheduled drug then I feel I would serve myself better if I sought other psychiatric help.
Bowen Center saved my life.If u stick with them and do what the therapists and doctors ask of u...U will succeed.I have been clean for 4 years with no relapse. I have cried and even screamed wanting to be a real person… with a real life.Without drugs and that lifestyle. My skills coach was excellent. She really did help me learn new skills and new ways of living. My doctor has been so good to me. All the Bowen Center employees have always treated me with respect and love.I praise God for leading me to Bowen Center! Well,I have never been to Huntington only Fort Wayne.I will let yal know about Huntington after my first visit there next Wednesday.
I have only dealt with one person from here and my experience was horrible my life coach tells me she’s gonna get her fostering license in case anything happens to my child and the very next day cps was at my house for… lies!!! Don’t trust them!!
