I waited 8 and half hours for a cat scan and blood work 3 and half hours just for me to see a nurse. And in the waiting room I sat next to someones finger nail and under my seat in the back room was trash and something… i assume was for a the nurses equipment to do tests. they also checked my vitals 3 times I guess to make me feel like I've been helped and make it seem like they were ontop of things and every nurse asked me the same questions that I answered when I walked in as if the reason I was came had changed if they looked at my sheet they wouldve gotten the answer. I asked for antibiotics or steroids when I checked in after everything was said and done they gave me antibiotics and pushed me out the door the last doctor I saw told me it normally takes 2 weeks for a cat scan and I asked for a doctor's note for work and they printed a paper out showing I was at the er not excusing me from work. Ive been to multiple ers and hospital in my life but none have been this dirty or taken that many hours for half assed answers and being told to see a specialist in my home state

Worst hospital had to go through a metal detector just to get inside and they asked for ID and they’re not polite. They are very rude people. If you are sick I wouldn’t recommend coming to this hospital. Go to Geisinger… Hershey no metal detectors and the people are friendly.

This is by far the worst medical office/hospital experience I have ever had. I called to inquire about a maternity tour at York Hospital, and it was a complete logistics nightmare: The first operator randomly… transferred my call directly to an OB/GYN office. The OB/GYN staff then tried to transfer me back, but the call failed. The second operator who picked up just said, "Sorry, I have no idea what you're talking about." The third operator outright told me that they don't offer maternity tours at all. The 1-star rating goes directly to that third operator since I get answer. Extremely unprofessional and unhelpful from 1st and 2nd operators.

Rude, unprofessional. They care about their paycheck more than helping others. If it doesn’t affect them, they DO NOT CARE. Do not come here unless you literally want to walk into your death bed.

Was in pain, needed surgery done to be sent home told it wasn’t urgent enough and got sch’d for outpatient surgery. Outpatient overbooked my surgery so they cancelled my surgery. Never got it rescheduled after multiple… calls. Came in cause I was having pain still, to be dismissed, pretty much sent home until I fought for myself and my body. Was kept and is still waiting surgery to be told it may not even happen and could possibly happen tomorrow. Unprofessional. Did I mention I’m a black woman.

My husband came in by ambulance from Westminster, MD after his zero turn mower rolled and pinned him. This was our first experience with this facility and it was flawless. The staff and medical team went above and… beyond with compassion and care. Every single interaction that we had was positive. The security staff, the folks manning the information desks, the transport team, the nurses and doctors were all extremely responsive, friendly, and helpful. It was such a relief in a scary situation to be met with folks who kept us apprised of what testing was being done and why, and informed us of results in a timely manner. Every question or concern was answered with patience and thoughtfulness. We received truly outstanding care. I wish to extend an enormous thank you to everyone who helped care for my husband as well as those who helped me navigate my way through the hospital. The support was very appreciated.

Shout out to the labor and delivery department for being awesome and going above and beyond with being thorough, thoughtful and caring. Was pretty anxious about having a scheduled c section but they made sure everything… went very smoothly during surgery, and post opp care was great. The nurses are amazing! Very happy with the care we received.

If you have an emergency I recommend going elsewhere unless you want unprofessional and unskilled ER nurses. They botched the IV insertion twice, couldn't explain what the meditations were or are used for that they… abruptly push on you, they expect patients with severe leg injuries to get up and walk around on their own, they don't check on you and seem bothered you don't magically disappear, they have zero communication skills during testing and discharge (you'll find out through a text message even though you are still waiting on answers), they leave locked medical cabinets wide open in your room, leave random medications in your room and to top it all off bad mouth you right outside your door. I have never felt so stupid and regretful going to the ER for help even though it was recommended by a specialist to go there for care.

I had a few health difficulties here in the past few weeks. I had hernia surgery first on June 9. I was then admitted to the hospital about a week later due to complications and issues from my surgery. I received the… most compassionate and best of care from the nurses, nursing staff, and from everyone that took care of me during my stay. Dr. Shih and her staff for checking in with me daily. She performed multiple surgeries on me in a short period of time. I’m happy to say she has me on the road to recovery for good. York Hospital has gone above and beyond to help me.

Just wanted to share a great experience that I had a few days ago while in the hospital...Curtis was the transport person from my room to a surgical procedure. He actually sang, the entire way! He knew EVERYONE along… the way and said hi to them, using their names! It really helped to distract me from my upcoming procedure! Thank you, Curtis

Everyone that works here is insanely sweet and understanding. I had came here after a bad hospital visit at another hospital the day before and I expressed my concerns and they paid attention to everything I had to say.… The results took a while but that’s how every hospital is. I highly recommend coming here!

I am submitting this complaint regarding the care my daughter received while seeking treatment for a sickle cell crisis. The experience was unacceptable, lacked urgency, and demonstrated a concerning disregard for the… severity of sickle cell pain. My daughter had been experiencing a sickle cell crisis for two days prior to arriving at the Emergency Department. Despite taking Ibuprofen and Oxycodone around the clock as directed, she continued to suffer from severe, uncontrolled pain. Anyone with knowledge of sickle cell disease understands that a pain crisis is a serious medical event requiring timely intervention. Upon arrival, the waiting room was nearly empty, yet we waited approximately one hour before being brought back to a treatment room. Once in the room, we waited an additional two hours without blood work, IV fluids, or pain management being initiated. During this time, my daughter's pain level had reached a 10 out of 10. The nurse caring for my daughter was professional and compassionate. He provided heating packs for comfort and explained that he was waiting for orders from the provider. Another staff member also checked on us and expressed genuine concern regarding the delay. However, concern without action did nothing to address my daughter's escalating pain. After several hours, the nurse informed us he would begin the IV process. I asked when a provider would be coming to discuss a treatment plan. A resident eventually arrived, followed by the attending physician, Dr. Beatrice Hoofman. Throughout the visit, my husband was present via video call so he could participate in discussions regarding our daughter's care. After I informed Dr. Hoofman that I was speaking with my husband, she continued questioning my use of the phone and moved toward it as if to verify who was on the call. My husband then spoke directly and made his presence known. I found this interaction unnecessary, intrusive, and unprofessional. When I explained that my daughter's typical treatment for a sickle cell crisis includes Morphine, Toradol, and IV fluids, Dr. Hoofman appeared dismissive of the information provided. Instead, she ordered the same Oxycodone dosage my daughter had already been taking around the clock for two days without relief. This decision demonstrated a failure to acknowledge both the severity of my daughter's condition and the ineffectiveness of the treatment she had already been receiving at home. As a result, I felt compelled to contact Hershey Medical Center and speak directly with the physician on call. That physician subsequently communicated with WellSpan regarding my daughter's established treatment protocol. No parent should have to seek outside intervention to ensure their child receives appropriate treatment for a known medical condition. What is most concerning is the apparent lack of understanding and urgency surrounding sickle cell pain. Far too often, patients with sickle cell disease face skepticism, delays in treatment, and inadequate pain management. This experience reinforced those concerns. Severe pain should not be dismissed, minimized, or treated as though the patient must prove its legitimacy before receiving appropriate care. As a healthcare professional myself, I found this experience both disappointing and disturbing. I expect healthcare providers to treat all patients with dignity, respect, and evidence-based care. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. I will continue to advocate for my children, but it is deeply troubling to consider how patients with sickle cell disease are treated when they do not have a parent or family member present to advocate for them. It is even more troubling to think about how my children may be treated once they are adults and must navigate these situations on their own.

I had hernia surgery a few days ago, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. The procedure was quick, the recovery has been easier than expected, and everyone involved—from check-in to discharge—was friendly,… reassuring, and highly professional. I'm currently 3 days post-op with no complications and feeling better each day. If anything changes, I'll update my review, but for now this is an easy 5 stars. Highly recommend!

Wow the lady in patient registration in the main hospital is entirely rude.. I just watched her give the grossest attitude to like 3 different people for them just wanting to check in for appointments. If you hate your… job so much that you cant even fake a little common courtesy and manners to the public you choose to work with. You need a different job. Just a wretched, rude woman.
