Wellspan Philhaven – York (1101 Edgar Street) Address, Location and Contact Information
Records give the address as 1101 Edgar Street, York, Pennsylvania, 17403. York sits in York County. The catchment reaches beyond the city itself. Public transport, parking and the length of the journey all affect whether someone completes a course of treatment, and they are worth settling before the first appointment rather than after.
It is worth calling first to confirm access, parking and the shape of a first visit. Where travel is difficult, ask whether an initial appointment can be held remotely. If the first call does not reach anyone, try again at a different time of day rather than assuming the service is closed.

I came here for my new employee screening and cannot say enough good things about Ny and Nyeisha. So incredibly professional, friendly, accommodating and wonderful. They were incredible and so sensitive to my fear of… giving blood. Both of these ladies made me feel so comfortable and at ease. 10/10 stars!
I've been going there for 20 years almost. I take Abilify the medicine and it's helped me out a lot. I'm generally open up about to the nurses that give me my medicine every month.
My first appointment at this facility was with dr. Attiya Kidwai and my experience with her was not good whatsoever I felt as though she was annoyed and she wasn’t nice. So immediately when it was time to schedule my… next appointment I decided to change to a nurse practitioner, Mary bowling and she is the best mental health professional I have ever worked with. I have been with her for a little over a year now and I wouldn’t change it for the world NP are able to get you in quicker as they normally don’t have as many patients. She did switch to online now though. Also to note a few weeks ago I had a old friend reach out to me and she also said she had Dr. Attiya kidwai and was super upset and i recommended her Mary bowling so that is what I am doing here.
I have the best therapist he cares and doesn't yell or judge me.
I started therapy at a time when I was overwhelmed with anxiety, stress, and constant overthinking. I am so grateful I took that step because working with Christian has been life changing. He patient and he genuinely… listens. Each session made me feel seen and supported, and gave me the tools to navigate difficult moments with more clarity and peace. The entire team here is wonderful. The receptionists are always friendly and welcoming. I actually looked forward to seeing them. I still remember my very first appointment, it was in the evening and one of the ladies walked me out and waited to make sure I got safely into my car. That simple gesture meant a lot. Every visit felt peaceful and safe, and I always felt cared for. I’m walking away with more confidence and resilience, and I’ll always be grateful for this experience.
My review is going to encompass wellspan as a whole and not just this facility. With that being said, individual therapists thru wellspan in York area, are booked out for MONTHS. Yet, they're still taking patients. I… had an appointment today [6/12/2025] and was told I couldn't be seen again by him until August. If I wanted a sooner appointment, I'd have to log into my portal and check if he has a canceled appointment every week and to basically stay on a waiting list for availability for his schedule. Why is he taking on more patients? That's not therapy that's going to help me and when I say I want to be seen once a week, he tells me my behavioral rating [that you have to fill out before a telehealth appointment] wasnt bad so he doesn't see the need. When it becomes anout maximum profit, its not therapeutic anymore. I'm no longer your client, I'm another paycheck and that doesnt work for me. I do love the therapeutic groups they offer, I will continue to utilize those but you are much better off going elsewhere, unless you want a group therapy. Wellspan taking on more patients when they are booked out for months, screams one thing: I JUST WANT YOUR MONEY! No thank you.
Left me on hold for 20 minutes after I asked if they used my insurance.
0 stars. Horrible staff. Their goal is solely to prescribe medications. This specific NP has not seen my son once in person over the past year or two that we were seeing her. Very little communication and unresponsive… to emergent concerns. Don’t recommend this facility at all!
I had gone to wellspan Edgar square for the majority of my younger adult years. I have a stack of formal grievances at least three inches high. That is only regarding those instances when I became so outraged at many… providers and so-called professionals that I suffered debilitating panic attacks from for maybe days. This includes a very possible HIPAA violation by the otherwise very well regarded by many other patients dr. Muneses. I had seen him there myself for years, always being given an incorrect diagnosis because of what I will call his prejudice in not encompassing what my very real traumas entailed towards me. As for the HIPAA violation, yes, there was a formal hearing with my insurance company, others including nonpartisan parties, and supposed to be wellspan person whose representative, of course, failed to show up. As for most of their therapists, I have very little faith that they even know one iota about how to conduct group therapy, let alone individual therapy. The office staff is dismissive at best. In other words, you had better have all your own documentation done yourself so the staff there doesn't have to worry about doing their job. Also, there were those therapists when I was in their groups who played favorites with participants, allowing another participant to constantly talk over me and never allow me to finish my point of view or input statement. Yes, this therapist, who has my same first name, had me removed from her group because of this and other.urgent concerns another participant tried to express whose needs were never met by said therapist or group. Although I was a participant, I could not, would not, not very briefly address this person's cries for help within said therapeutic group. I am a human being with feelings not just for myself but for others as well. The entire staff at wellspan Edgar square also allowed some of my extremely harshly judgemental and abusive outside acquaintances to weigh in on my therapeutic care as they would often sit in the waiting room while they made the excuse they were transporting someone else from the building I also lived in at the time. The only reason I am not healed yet is that at the time I struggled and even fought as much as possible while at Edgar square and continued so-called, no-called, care there is my family had strongly pressured me to continue with these abusive practicioners. There were a very, very small handful of people, maybe one or two therapists, who, had it not been for their honest support for me, at least at the time I might have needed it the most, I would have been long gone from this picture overall.
Disgusting rude deplorable staff. Not sure why they bother working In mental health care when they got issues. I ask them why do they work here? Lots of other places to get a paycheck! Sadly not many other places for… mental health care so that is sick
This location needs a sign stating NO WEAPONS are permitted on the premises. I watched a man pull a pocket knife out and dangerously dig at the sole of his shoe in the waiting room (he had the blade pointing toward his… hand as he dug at his shoe) Your automated system needs music instead of the same 3 recorded messages that repeat in a cycle every minute to tell you you'll get "the same quality of assistance" and thanking for continuing to hold 😑 it does not help when you are already upset and stressed out.
Lost hope here. 2 stars only because the people were kind of nice, but I would never come back.
The only thing that helps my anxiety is kalonopin or xanax. He stopped my Clonopin and I directly hung up on him. I am finding a new psychiatrist. He does not care about your opinions or your feelings or your needs. He… is very unprofessional and should not be serving the public.
This place is absolutely horrible, they're incredibly unprofessional and are of no help whatsoever, I went there for my appointment was told I couldn't be seen and couldn't even get my medicine, instead was told just to… go to the er and ask for it there because that's apparently where you go to see a therapist these days horrible and I pray they don't end up damaging someone mentally given the fact its BEHAVIORAL HEALTHCARE well not so much on the care part.
The doctors do not do their due diligence. They improperly diagnose and treat patients. Patients are railroaded as a result.
Focus on the matter of thoughts and no, issues.
They cancelled my appointment 5 minutes before the appointment
I was in a tough spot, juggling an addiction with family life and work and not really sure what to do about it. I had been using suboxone off the street for years to manage my opioid addiction and the stress of my wife… not knowing, worrying about drug testing at my job and trying to find money to ensure I would always have the medicine was wearing me out. I was nervous to contact a doctor because I hadnt used opiates in over five years, and thought there was no chance they would take someone who has been self treating for all that time. The staff at WellSpan Phil haven edgar square was not only very understanding they got me in just a few days after I called. We discussed my situation and all of my past drug use. I feel as if I have a second chance in life and I would highly recommend anyone struggling with an addiction to contact WellSpan Philhaven. I have been in many treatment programs over the past 12-15 years and this one is by far the best! Finally doctors and nurses who understand some people need help but also have a life outside of treatment!
If you are considering therapy, please take the time to read my long (lol) review. I wanted to give a follow up review. (February 2021) I sincerely feel bad for those that had a bad and unsuccessful experience. My… therapy with Christina Bowman-Morrison, LPC, ended two years ago and I am doing and have been doing very well! She worked really hard to guide me to a healthier and more realistic view of my life. In the very beginning of my therapy I was in extreme emotional distress. While I was in treatment with Christina I felt genuinely cared for, not that she was simply there to get a paycheck. Along with the correct “cocktail“ of medication, (be patient, because this may take up to a year or two to achieve) I worked VERY HARD on myself, so Christina and I made a great team. At the end of therapy I realized my subjective thinking, before I began therapy, was all askew when I thought it was all an objective reality. I had an amazing, life changing experience! Please know that if you want to be successful in therapy, you will need to work extremely hard. The therapist is there to guide you but you need to be open to the help. If you aren’t willing to put in the time and emotional “blood, sweat and tears,” your therapy will most likely be unsuccessful. Challenging your own thinking will be required. I went into therapy with a very open mind and attitude. I wanted the help. How I was living my life (Which included extremely unhealthy behaviors due to my askew view of myself) clearly wasn’t working and that’s why I went into therapy. Given that I went into it with an open mind as well as being completely honest about things going on in my mind and in my life, I got the help I needed. I truly believe it’s a lifelong change that I was able to achieve. Along with my hard work, Christina helped me to literally change my life for the better! I am so grateful for having had Christina as my therapist and I am happy in life now. I am also surrounded by much love. * If you are looking for a psychiatrist, I recommend my psychiatrist, Dr. Bredow. As was my experience with Christina, I truly feel genuinely cared for by Dr. Bredow and not that he’s just there for a paycheck. He takes the time to really listen to you. He makes eye contact and does not interrupt you while you are talking. When I am with him I feel “heard.” (he will work for you to find the right medication for you).
Although the secretaries are wonderful, the very few psychiatrists, both women in Lebanon , are rude and uncaring and do not even try to understand how bad my anxiety is. They are pompous and treat you like, “I am… destined for childbirth. What’s your problem?” Just like all women doctors. ”Nothing is worse than childbirth,” they think. Well, at least you know childbirth will end. My anxiety doesn’t end after however many hours. My husband has dementia and can’t be left alone, yet “Dr.” Kathleen Elnaggar expects me to drive 45 minutes each way at least twice a week for some therapy. Since I told her I cannot leave my husband alone, she refused to give me medication for my anxiety. Unfortunately for me, Philhaven is the only place close to me. I’m going to have to find someone else for my anxiety due to my husband’s dementia . They don’t even try to help. And don’t call on a Friday afternoon. They are all gone except for the secretaries. STAY AWAY from Philhaven if possible!! Less than one star review.
Once you get the flow with scheduling, I have been pleased with the help available to me.
Dr. Muneses is an amazing doctor that should have his own practice. He is knowledgeable, intuitive, hard-working, and skilled at what he does. Everyone else, though, behaves in a way that is so counterintuitive to… helping someone with mental health/addiction problems. With manipulative and specific rules about missing, rescheduling, cancelling, and being late for appointments, this business is clearly just that — a business with concern for profitability and NOT with improving people’s lives. My well-being always feels like an afterthought and I have been spoken to condescendingly countless times. (Definitely not conducive to improving my poor self-image.) While few receptionists are absolutely kind and helpful, I have had so many experiences with receptionists being rude, impatient, careless, and condescending towards me. All in all, this is the OPPOSITE of what a place for troubled individuals should be. Unfortunately, Wellspan has a monopoly and there is a shortage of psychiatrists, so I am forced to continue to give them my business in order to get the treatment and medication that I need to function and SURVIVE. I walk out feeling more unhappy and wanting to do more drugs every. Single. Time. Periodt.
I trusted my boyfriend who had attended this location twice, but unfortunately my experience was nothing like his and was probably the worst behavioral health experience I had received in all the years that I have… battled depression. It wasn’t just once with this location but numerous occasions with numerous providers from therapist to nurses and even doctors. I was declined therapy on a weekly basis and told therapy weekly was for suicidal patients from this particular therapist and as I was walked out the door in hysterics I was told “it’s always nice to see you xxxxx”,!! Talk about wanting to commit suicide, keep that structure up and that therapist will lead someone to do just that. So I sat it my car took my meds and after waiting 45 minutes to calm down I drove home. I called and wanted to talk to a supervisor but what I received was a call from that therapist. Not what I asked for and made me feel worse. I have been rescheduled twice by the doctor but scheduling tried to work with what other appts they had but I couldn’t make those so my chart is noted that I cancelled when the original issue was they needed to reschedule. Then my meds were refused to be filled. Another occasion it took 10 days for my medication to be refilled. That’s after several requests were sent by my pharmacist, a phone call from my pharmacist, several calls to the nurse then an email sent through the portal to the doctor. After being told to give them 2-3 days. Better give them 2 weeks!!! Then there was a time I was running 5 minutes late, yes it was my fault but my boyfriend called they said to continue in and the doctor would see me. When I got there I was declined!! I would of accepted that and turned around to go home but to say to continue to come in and the doctor will see you, you get there and be declined!! What!!!! Then there’s the numerous phone calls to speak with Jennifer head of the facility. Don’t count on a return call from her, the buck gets passed to a nurse and you get back on the same merry go round that you just got off of. Then there’s the in charge therapist that sees you, knows there were issues with her staff therapist, and can’t even give you eye contact and words of kindness, or how are you doing? You know why.....because she’s guilty!! And she’s knows it!!! What better way to be treated at a behavioral health center than to be ignored. That works!! NOT!! What really bothers me is the few that care and you can see it in there eyes; certain receptionist, schedulers, people that look at you and you can see the sadness they feel for you and that they want to help but they have no way of helping medically. But, their smiles, voices of concern do mean something but at the end of the day it doesn’t make you mentally feel better but at least you feel like someone sees it and cares. So, please if you are in need of any type of mental illness help look elsewhere. If I could of given this location zero stars or even negative stars that what it really deserves. You deserve better than this, every human being going through behavioral health issues deserves to be helped. Don’t accept less than what you deserve!!!!
Always on hold when ever need to schedule a appointment and most of the staff are rude.
