Why Trust RehabSeekers.com?

RehabSeekers is an independent behavioral health directory covering drug and alcohol addiction and mental health treatment providers.

Every listing has a source: an official register, a licensing record, or details the facility sent us.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Common questions

Answered from what is listed here.

Does VNS Health cover rehab?

Yes, on the plans that include medical benefits. SelectHealth, the Medicaid HIV Special Needs Plan, covers alcohol and substance use treatment from inpatient detox through outpatient care. The Medicare plans, EasyCare, EasyCare Plus and Total, cover outpatient substance use services and opioid treatment program services.

VNS Health MLTC is a long term care plan only, so its members get addiction treatment through regular Medicaid or Medicare instead.

Medicare Rehabhttps://rehabseekers.com/insurance-accepted/medicare/
Does VNS Health cover detox?

Yes, under SelectHealth. Its member handbook includes inpatient detoxification among covered substance use services, alongside inpatient and residential treatment. Admissions need plan approval before treatment except in emergencies, and a decision comes within 24 hours when the request is made at least 24 hours before discharge.

Behavioral health authorization is handled by Carelon Behavioral Health, reachable for SelectHealth members at 1-855-735-6098, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Medicaid Detoxhttps://rehabseekers.com/insurance-accepted/medicaid/medicaid-detox/
Does VNS Health cover inpatient rehab?

Yes, with prior authorization. On EasyCare in 2026, an inpatient mental health stay costs $300 per day for days 1 through 5 and $0 per day for days 6 through 90. SelectHealth covers inpatient and residential substance use disorder treatment.

Total members pay $0 for in-network inpatient mental health care, while EasyCare's inpatient hospital copay is $400 per day for the first five days.

VNS Health is a New York not-for-profit home and community health care organization, formerly the Visiting Nurse Service of New York, whose health plans arm runs Medicare Advantage, dual-eligible, Medicaid managed long term care and HIV Special Needs plans inside New York State and nowhere else. For addiction treatment that means the plan named on the card, rather than the VNS Health name itself, settles what is paid for.

VNS Health also sits on the other side of the table. Its behavioral health division runs crisis response, mental health programs for children and adults, and an integrated mental health and substance use clinic, and that arm is separate from the insurance plans. On the plan side, behavioral health benefits, utilization management, the behavioral health network, claims and appeals are delegated to Carelon Behavioral Health, so the number that settles a rehab authorization is frequently not the one printed on the front of the card.

The guide below covers which of the five plans pay for which levels of care, where prior authorization applies and who issues it, what each plan charges in 2026, how medication for opioid use disorder is handled under the Medicare drug benefit and NYRx, and how to find a program in New York that holds a contract with the plan.
