If I could rate this place with 0 stars I would. My mom was recently a patient at this facility and it was by far one of the worst horrible places ever they have zero communication with The family we were not told what… the visitation hours are , what you can and cannot bring. We have zero guidance on what to expect, staff was rude and we were promised we would get callbacks from nurses, doctors, but never received not one phone call and the social worker never met with my mother as she was promised. My mom had got bedbug bites from inside the facility and also scabies the only thing the staff did was went into the room and sprayed the room with raid to get rid of the bedbugs and that was it and caught one of the bedbugs and placed it in a jar and they did not treat my mom with anything after she was bit. They sent her home and told her to get over-the-counter cream to help with her symptoms after being released. My mom went into a walk-in center and they had confirmed she had both scabies and bedbug bites. This facility needs to be shut down ASAP. They do not care about their patients well-being. There are homeless people inside there with head lice and they are not enforcing them to take a shower. This place is DISGUSTING

I wish there were minus stars but if I got my wishes there would be good people in this world. People are clearly out of there minds going here and you abuse and and foul mouth and threaten the patients clearly who are… not OK. I got told I'd be put in a worse place because I felt scared and trapped. I strongly recommend of you want to keep your loved ones never go here. I can't go back to a place like that when I'm suicidal now because I know it's not safe and I'll kill myself the moment I leave another place tgat thinks it's OK to treat the broken with such crap. I currently have wanted to end my life more after being there.

Google this hospital I just did after my terrible scary 1 week stay. I’ll never go anywhere for help. Moldy green showers. Violence without any assistance from staff (female ward). Business as usual bc nurses didn’t… react at all. When I left thanks to á hearing I was made to leave without the clothes I voluntarily walked in with ánd sent home with ONLY a hospital gown and nothing underneath. Im not from the streets. I have insurance. I was very sick & went to er afterwards for medical problems immediately afterwards bc they ignored me. I was vomiting ánd crying ánd tgey had my medical records and outside drs names & info. There are lawsuits on record (Google bc I can’t post it here). For abuse incl sexual. Pkease go anywhere else.

The room I was in had serious plumbing problems and some staff spoke loudly to each other at all hours of the night. I also stupidly left my debit card in my wallet and someone made fraudulent charges on it when I was… in the hospital. Whether it was an employee or someone else I do not know. Kind of suspicious that it happened while I was in the hospital.

Very pleasant experience. The nurses or administrators were the most kind and helpful with all questions and concerns. And very attentive. Keep up the great work your people are doing an amazing job.

This place is a complete fraud. They falsify paperwork. Threaten to 5150 any voluntary patient who tries to leave and try to milk your insurance for every last drop. Do not let a loved one here. I have already asked my… insurance to deny the claims. They falsified a document and my wife refused to sign as it was inaccurate and that was their justification for their hold. We will be taking legal action.

I wish I would have looked at the reviews before allowing a family member to go here. I don’t care what issue your family member has do not send them here! I’m in the process of trying to get my family member out of… here who voluntarily came here for anxiety. As mentioned in previous reviews this place absolutely does falsify documentation. He was supposed to be on a 3 day hold, he didn’t see a social worker or a Dr. (Dr. Ligia Berci) until the 3rd day. They suggested he stay for 2 more days for further observation because they waited until the 3rd day to observe him and when he refused they threatened to hold him for 14 days. As if he is not allowed to get upset about staying there longer when he has a job to get back too. He asked the Dr. to call his job she said she don’t do that. They put on his documents that he cannot take care of himself, buy his own food clothes etc. he has his own apartment and a job. They also put chronic alcohol impairment and he is not a drinker the Dr. spoke to him for 2 minutes and didn’t care about his concerns at all. She refused to take or return my calls. Instead now after seeing her, he can barely stay awake long enough to talk on the phone. She got upset with him because he requested to see a Dr. who could speak better English so they can better verbally understand each other which upsetted her and she told him maybe he should just lose his job, in retaliation she is dopping him up and keeping him passed his 72 hour voluntary hold. Oh yea and they placed him on an involuntary hold when he walked in and admitted himself on a 3 day hold. This place is for profit only. Keeping him to charge his insurance. I plan on reporting them to every agency that I can, I will not stop with this battle I don’t care how long it takes, someone will be held accountable for this unfair treatment, falsified documents, abuse of patients rights, insurance fraud etc.. Because this place needs to be shut down. This facility is a the number 1 reason/example of why people with mental health issues are afraid to reach out for help. DO NOT SEND ANYONE YOU CARE ABOUT TO THIS FACILITY. To all the patients that experienced the same in previous reviews, just because you have a mental issue does not mean you don’t have rights. They also provide a patient advocate number to the patients, which I will have to call for him because the number do not work from the phones that they have access too, he has tried calling it several times. And now it’s the weekend and I have to wait until Monday since his rights was taken away to call. That is a clear case of abuse.

I was sent there after going to the ER to ask for help getting into an inpatient facility for my depression of 25+ years that was just getting too much for me. Why did I ask the ER for help? Well, because my… psychiatrist wouldn't help me get to a facility and told me the ER is the only way I'm going to get into one. The first time I went to the ER and asked, i sat there for 7 hours, and nobody talked to me. The second time, I had to lie and say I was suicidal to get them to pay attention to me. I explained that I just wanted someplace quiet where I could get therapy and good monitoring during medication trials. So, I was placed on hold and trucked 2.5 hours (in an ambulance, on my dime) from home to Sacramento, to the Hell Hole called Heritage Oaks. The doctor who admitted me was yelling at me within 10 mins of my arrival. I was placed in a room with a bright light that would shine straight thru my window onto my bed all night, so I couldn't sleep. I had to make a fort out of the bedframe, the wall, and lay the mattress on top of me for a roof to block out the light. A blanket on the floor was all i had for padding. They refused to turn off the light or move me to another bed, then would attribute my anger and frustration over the situation to mental illness when all i wanted was to get some sleep. I was admitted on a Thursday night. No social worker came to talk to me until Monday. They asked when I'd last seen my doctor. I replied it was hard to say as he never comes to talk to me. They informed me that my doctor was a woman. No female doctor had EVER come to see me. For the most part, the staff are rude as hell and really don't give one care for the patients. I didn't see one shred of compassion from the nurses. We patients had to comfort ourselves as there ISN'T EVEN A THERAPIST THERE FOR YOU TO TALK TO. Many of them I could not even understand because their foreign accent was so thick. I don't care one bit if you're from another country, but in a medical profession, you need to be able to communicate effectively. And when I can't understand their instructions, I'm the one who's negatively impacted. I was never given any kind of orientation or tour to let me know, like the schedule, options for using your time, where things are. I ended up getting yelled at a few times over information that was never presented to me. The hospital won't even support their staff with decent tools. While every other hospital is using tablets for wellness checks and such, these people are still writing down stuff on a clip board and paper (which is loud as hell in the middle of the night when they come by to do one of their 75677421360872 bed checks). They woke me up almost every time they came in. The staff would sit outside my door and talk all night, and when I'd ask them to be quiet, I was told to just go back to sleep. WE'LL I CAN'T CAUSE YOU'RE TOO LOUD!!! The entrance door to our wing had a sign on it that says, "Do not slam door, patients are trying to sleep." Yet that door slammed all night long, keeping me up. My 80 year old mom rented a car and driver to come see me, but was denied access. I listened to her crying on the phone as her car pulled out of the parking lot to head the 2.5 hours back home. The hospital threatened to extend my 5 day stay into two weeks, but I said, "Let's go to the medical judge." What do you know.... a few hours later, I was told I'm being discharged. Because of Heritage Oaks, I now do not trust the medical system whatsoever. I weep never go to the ER for help again, as i NEVER want to go thru an experience like that ever. Indeed.com shows that THEIR OWN EMPLOYEES rate the place at 2.6. What a joke. I will not be following up with Heritage Oaks as their internal review is just a way for them to sweep these egregious trespasses under the rug. I will be following up with outside regulatory agencies.

I was a patient here. The psychiatrist I lied in her notes. I said one thing, but she didn’t add it so it appeared that I was feeling a certain way when I wasn’t. Also, they think that generic and brand-name meds are… the same and they’re not. I’m on meds where generic doesn’t work, but the brand name does. Because of this, I brought my own brand name medication, but they still try to give me the generic which I refused to take. They admit you, show you your room, do a strip search and put an ankle monitor on. That’s it. they don’t explain how things operate nothing. They didn’t offer what I needed. I needed one on one counseling which they did not provide. Staff was awesome but that’s it. Avoid this place if you can.

For me, communication needs to be 100% all around from staff to doctors. Doctor never communicated with me to discuss my son. Bryce is still NOT DOING WELL! My son is getting worse. Hey may, talk to you normal when he… briefly snaps out of his voices, but he doesn’t like being disturbed and is very verbally aggressive. His voices consume him so much and he’s verbally aggressive and doesn’t want to go to work or do anything - tell the doctor thank you as I’m not pleased. He needs to be at a residential facility. He says he won’t go but he will because he has no place to go and is unfamiliar of the area. I do not care if he’s 20 years old and an “adult “ he has trouble making decisions on his own and needs to be directed “forced” to do things. I’m his mother and his caretaker. I know him well! If he was driven to a location he would go in because as mentioned he has no place to go. He should be in a safe place and in a long term treatment center until his voices don’t consume his mind!! Also clear enough to have as much as possible the ability to have a productive life; to think clearly to have conversations with PEOPLE. to laugh, to work, to live and want to be in a relationship, be as close as possible to be normal! So am I pleased - no!!!!!!

I was hospitalized here November 2019 for mental health reasons, when I was 13 years old. It was a very unpleasant experience. It was always extremely cold, and they wouldn't let me use my own thick blanket because it… was "dangerous." They also wouldn't let me have my stuffed animal, because that was ALSO "dangerous." I was forced to sleep with a blanket that was basically a towel, a pillow that felt nonexistent, a room that was FREEZING, and I had no stuffed animal for comfort (which was an important part of making me feel stable at night). Needless to say, I didn't sleep much. Also, if your temperatures are SO COLD that your STAFF have to wear heavy jackets, and the patients AREN'T ALLOWED SUCH LUXURIES, then MAYBE you should ADJUST THE TEMPERATURE! How are patients supposed to get better when we can't even sleep? We weren't allowed anything that would actually keep us warm! The staff would want to draw my blood, but they would ONLY want to at like 5 am. They were never able to get any blood from me because obviously, at 5 am, I'M DEHYDRATED. So, I ended up sitting through pricking and pinching early in the morning EVERY MORNING because they were too stupid to do it at a different time of day. Additionally, when I was first arriving, the staff made me remove my clothes so they could check for any weapons, signs of self-harm, etc. That's normal; just about every place I've been hospitalized in has done that. However, the inspection took longer than needed, and the staff started making inappropriate remarks about my body and acne. It was completely unnecessary and humiliating. I was already extremely self-conscious, and that just added salt to the wound. The food was okay. The general activity area seemed like it was in need of repair, but we had a TV and we got to watch The Simpson's, so that's certainly something. I spent a lot of time sitting in the hallway talking to the other patients. They were cool, as I remember them. But honestly, aside from the TV, phone, and the other patients, there wasn't much to do. I hardly remember interacting with the staff. They were absent a lot of the time, unless I was (supposed to be) getting my blood drawn. They also talked to you for like, a small amount of time every other day but, meh.

I straight said I didn't feel right and… they kept pushing it was just anxiety but the hospital said the seizure wad caused by taking me off 2 meds way too fast..and they didn't even feel bad for their malpractice!!

My daughter was recently a patient at Heritage Oaks Hospital in Sacramento, and our experience was very concerning. When she was first admitted, staff didn’t even realize she was a new patient, which resulted in her… missing her first meal. For the morning she was not properly provided with basic necessities like clean clothes. The facility itself did not appear clean — there was urine on the floor that was not addressed. There were also multiple instances of patients yelling at and even physically confronting each other without adequate staff intervention, which felt very unsafe. We were also told by my daughter there was no hot water available for showers. On top of that, communication was extremely difficult. It was very hard to get anyone — a doctor, nurse, or social worker — to return calls or provide updates about my daughter’s condition. Overall, this experience raised serious concerns about patient care, safety, and basic standards at this facility. I hope improvements are made so other families do not have to go through the same situation.

I’m forever grateful. The psychiatrist that gave me a proper diagnosis and prescribed me an antipsychotic has changed my life tremendously. I’d be nothing but an empty shell of a man rotting in psychosis if I wasn’t… given this miracle drug. Invega sustenna was what she prescribed me. Whoever this psychiatrist is, a white female with black hair and glasses, you changed my life forever. After the needle went in my arm I could feel my self awareness come back and my cognitive function progress. I’ve been on this antipsychotic for 9 years now and haven’t been in the mental hospital at all because of this medicine. Hopefully the psychiatrist who prescribed this to me will read this review. I thank you. My schizophrenia is now kept at bay. This hospital is the best. I’m now writing a book about my battle with schizophrenia and the power of antipsychotics. Maybe someone will see and read it while they’re staying at this hospital and my insight with antipsychotics will help them.

I went for Depression and my Medication that the Staff Prescribed was amazing. The Medication was successful. So it limited my stay. During that time the Staff lost my Clothes due to two of the same Name on both Wings.… I got them back. The Facility where the Clients attend and sleep Is very dirty. Even when they cleaned. Super sticky floors and crumbs. The problem with me being able to discharge efficient and fastly. Made me a out patient. I was supposed to attend the Program for 10 days. Volunteraily. The program I was assigned was very unproductive, unreliable and overall childish. I absolutely hate it. Very repeative and unhelpful. It ticked me off and as a adult with disability I have rights. The staff was kind at first Julie. But She kept encouraging me to finish. Julie you aren't my boss. I'm not your kid I hate your program. Leave me alone.

This place falsified mental health records and doesn't keep you safe. They let you get sexually assaulted and they cover it up!! And you get restricted from using the phone if you attempt to call the police or 911. They… are a for profit hospital and will make false claims in order to get paid. All they do is drug you up and don't let you out for a very long time. They get court orders to keep you there much longer and will say anything about you just to be able to keep you there longer and longer. They hold you down and force shots of medication on you if you don't take the medication in pill form. Every time I've been there they have made false claims about how I was acting the whole time I was there every time. Each time I was there I was very nice to everybody there including the other patients I was around and they still pushed mental health diagnosis' on me that I didn't even have. You can't win with this place!! It's cool though....I don't have to work and now I get free money!! And I got close to $40,000 in back pay so if you can't beat them join them!!! I'm still very upset that they frauded my mental health records though and I intend to take legal action against them. This place deserves to be shut down for all the illegal actions they take part in!!

If I could give this place zero stars, I absolutely would. I promise you whatever you or your loved one is going through, pretty much anything would be better than being here. I got involuntarily placed here on a 5150… while trying to seek outpatient care for my suicidal thoughts due to medical trauma. I left here with even more trauma, increased distrust of medical and psychological staff, and increased anxiety even though I had it under control for almost a year prior to my hospitalization. I have been out for over two weeks and am still experiencing nightmares. During my 96-hours stay at the for-profit "hospital" (it was more like a prison, as confirmed by one of my fellow patients who had been to an actual prison), I personally experienced or witnessed the following: Unethical psychiatric practices, including a lack of activities for patients; 5250 holds being placed automatically without evaluation; unsafe rooming and unit placements; insufficient time out of the unit paired with a lack of access to the natural environment; etc. Unsanitary conditions such as unclean bed sheets; lack of cleaning rooms between patients, visible bodily fluids and excrement still present; lack of cleaning rooms appropriately during a patient's stay; unhygienic patients spreading E. coli, lice, and other pathogens with no or insufficient preventive measures in place; etc. Medical Neglect, including the withholding of medication; lack of urgency in responding to medical concerns; lack of adjusting policies to meet medical needs; etc. Facility Neglect, including the aforementioned lack of cleaning, leaking or clogged toilets; cold or scalding water temperatures; bed sheets that don't fit, causing patients to sleep directly on the cot; etc. Patient Physical and Verbal Violence towards other patients and staff: A patient yelled racist slurs and derogatory phrases towards both patients and staff late at night; a fellow patient described witnessing another patient punching other patients in the back of the head; fellow patient also described witnessing another patient throw feces and smear it on the walls
