I was diagnosed with major depression in 1979 when I was 12 years old. Many doctors, even psychologists and psychiatrists did not recognize or know how to treat depression in children at time. We generally had to travel… quite a distance to receive help. We were so happy to discover IHR here in Pontiac, Illinois. I was able to see qualified and experienced therapists and a psychiatrist that could treat me on a weekly basis during difficult times and after I was able to handle more they continued to support my ongoing care. I've always had supportive, knowledgeable and kind people to work with. To have such a wonderful resource locally to help individuals whole families with so many different conditions and situations is extremely valuable to all communities nearby. It also provides help to those who might not otherwise be able to afford it. I was always treated with respect and great care.

i changed jobs and needed different hours with my counselor, Jen. I didn't hear from her again after that. l was seeing her for months and it was the bare minimum. no actual therapy whatsoever, lots of cancellations.

10/10 do not recommend. bri the psychiatrist doesn’t listen to you and your appointment time will maybe be 5 minutes long. if you’re on medicaid and have no job they’ll say you won’t have to pay then years later charge… you for past appointments and threaten you with bad debt if you don’t pay them. when you call to resolve things they don’t call back. i highly recommend driving to gibson city instead.

IHR Counseling Services has been a lifeline for my family, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. They provided exceptional support to my mother and me as we navigated the challenges of our family struggles. The… counselors were compassionate, professional, and incredibly skilled at helping us process our emotions and find effective coping strategies. Their personalized approach made us feel truly heard and understood, fostering a safe space for healing. Thanks to IHR, we’ve grown stronger as a family and feel better equipped to handle our challenges. If you’re seeking caring, impactful counseling, IHR is the place to go!

I go here at IHR and I see Cece, she’s great! Always listens makes sure I know how to be aware of how I feel and how to handle friendship/relationships with other people. The place is well set up with lots of room for… other clients, as well as a smaller table with coloring books and crayons to keep the little kids distracted, the people at the front are very nice aswell!

I’ve had a terrible experience with all the counselors that I’ve had there. Sorry, but social workers shouldn’t be counselors. I’ve never had a good social worker counceler. I feel like they don’t know what they are… doing. I feel like there is better healthcare elsewhere, but for the money, IHR is ok for a small amount of time.

Tried calling this place to make an appointment 4 times and nobody will return my call.... on the 5th try I heard the lady in the background saying No No No ! Tell them to leave a voicemail!!!!!!!! Obviously this place… could care less about a persons mental health. It takes a lot to actually reach out for help.... but then when you do, you feel like they can’t be bothered to help you !!!????
