About Queens Medical Center – Honolulu

Queens Medical Center operates from 1374 Nuuanu Avenue in Honolulu. The site sits in Honolulu County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. Nearby communities include Hickam Housing and Maunawili. Hawaii draws people across long distances for treatment, so travel time is worth weighing against waiting time.

Partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and outpatient care are delivered here, alongside medication-assisted treatment, telehealth appointments and care for co-occurring mental health conditions. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves.

Licensing and Accreditation

Joint Commission Accredited RehabJoint CommissionAccreditedAn independent US body that inspects healthcare organisations against national safety and quality standards. Accreditation is voluntary, costs the facility money, and is renewed every three years.
SAMHSA ListedSAMHSAListedThe facility appears in the federal treatment locator maintained by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. It is a record that the facility exists and reports its services, not an assessment of quality.

Treatment Services at Queens Medical Center

Partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and outpatient care run to a set weekly schedule, with evenings and weekends spent at home. That suits people holding down work or caring responsibilities, though it asks more of someone managing early recovery alone. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

Buprenorphine and naltrexone are available and paired with counseling rather than prescribed alone. Co-occurring mental health conditions are treated in the same building rather than split across providers. Assessment decides the level of care, so ask what that involves and how quickly it can happen.

As a former "patient" of this "medical facility" I STRONGLY urge anyone struggling with mental health needs to seek help elsewhere. The staff here treated me like a criminal. I was left in a concrete cell block with big… metal doors and a small plastic box as a bed. The staff repeatedly denied me any form of human contact or even an explanation as to why I was being treated that way. Cruel and inhumane treatment of someone who just needed help. Honestly I hope this place burns to the ground. Save yourself, this place will make you suicidal.
