ZERO STARS!!! when asking for directions for help on how to locate a floor for inpatient they couldn't help my family. I called plently of times to figure out how to find my family member and were no help what so ever.… talked to a police officer in one of the buildings and was more help then the staff. do better.

Definitely not a great experience. I took someone because I noticed serious mental health concerns that have been going on for a while. Because the person I took didn't want to talk, the person doing the assessment just… gave up. They didn't even hear what I had to say. What a waste of time. So if someone is having serious issues, nothing will be done just because you'll believe the person saying they don't want to talk? Insane.

I had been seeing Dr. Wadyal for about 6 years. Things were going fine until my therapist of almost 4 years said Dr. Wadyal was managing my meds badly and she thought I was being gas lighted. I switched doctors and my… new one kept saying she had no idea what Dr. Wadyal had been doing. She said my meds were managed really badly. Also I had been seeing Kelly Demers for about 2 years. She helped me out a lot at the beginning but during Covid there were just a bunch of false promises about retuning to in person and poor boundaries about emailing. She also threw me under the bus when I switched therapists and didn’t mention 2 very important things to me. She also blocks clients on Facebook. Everyone I have mentioned this to says that is really strange. I’ve been with my current therapist for almost 4 years and it’s going great. But obviously if I’m writing this I’m still a bit messed up from how Dr. Wadyal and Kelly handled things.

Far from great is an understatement. This is by far one of the most humiliating experiences of my life when I stayed there 7 years ago. I remember it clear as day. But I’ll be brief…when I was 27 years old I was… diagnosed with ocd. I’m not sure if they still have the ocd department. Although, when I stepped in for treatment, it was present at the time. I remember Debbie, Ben, and Brad. Debbie handled something up front. Ben and Brad were the ocd therapists. I don’t need to give details, for personal reasons. One day, I couldn’t stand the anxiety, I was facing while in an environment, as toxic as it was at the time. So. I decided I had no choice, than to jump out the first story window of my room. I was going to find the Catholic Church, a walking distance from the building. I was Catholic at the time. Not long after I, finally, escaped, I was found and forced into the company van. Only 27 at the time, not long after a suicide attempt, AMITA WAS WELL AWARE OF, I was then taken to a behavioral health unit for suicide watch. Before I was taken there, Debbie pulled me into her office to scream at me. Only 27, she told me “you’re going to be 30 soon, and you’re acting like a child.” Without pause, or the opportunity to respond, I saw the paramedics show up. I was forced against my will into an ambulance where I was transported to the behavioral safety unit. On the way, from Debbie’s office to the ambulance, Brad, smiled and nodded, at me in a devious nature. Once I arrived to the new unit, one of the nurses from Amita who work with Ben, Brad, and Debbie…stormed in, glared at me, then slammed my suitcase on the ground with all my belongings thrown, carelessly inside, like there was hurricane present. After 3-5 days in the suicide watch unit, I was taken back to Amita. The original building I came too for OCD treatment. I ended up having the strength and will to finish the ocd program. At the time, not knowing, my OCD, was a mistake diagnosis. Brad, also had me wrongly convinced after observing my behavior, that I had BPD. Borderline Personality Disorder. Debbie, Ben, Brad, and the entire staff knew I was struggling emotionally with major depression. Because of this, I was really struggling with my ADL’s. Otherwise known as, activities of daily living. Ben suggested assisted living. Thankfully, I have recovered from that painful and humiliating experience of my life. I now have received the correct diagnosis and experienced the correct treatment for it. I work and provide for myself fully today. I have not yet fully forgiven Amita, Ben, Brad, Debbie, or the nurses. But I believe God will give me the strength and opportunity to do so. God Bless.

No one likes being in a behavioral health hospital. The staff and facility are the best in Chicagoland. The psychiatrists, nurses, theapists, BHAs, Hospitality, and Patient Advocacy are the best I've ever seen.

I’m so grateful that I was placed into this facility for inpatient treatment after checking myself in at my local hospital. The entire staff is incredible, and truly care and make it felt. As much as I wish I never had… to go in the first place, I’m truly glad to know it exists. I know anyone else that walks through the doors will get the same level of care and treatment that I did and that makes me feel good. Thank you again to every one whose path I crossed in my 5 days there. I’m blessed to have met you all!

AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. Please - don't send a child or loved one here. Nurses are unprofessional and talk about patients where they are overheard. I saw a clergyman VERBALLY ATTACK a patient during a group session… because the patient wasn't participating enthusiastically enough. The next day after discharge (my health care provider pulled me out of there early because my depression had worsened while attending the program at Alexian Brothers), I was contacted about my bill and reminded that my balance was do immediately.

The things I witnessed here do align with all the one star reviews . Patients lack basic support as vision aids so reading or writing can be impossible. Activities seem appropriate but schedule is not respected. Dignity… is not respected.Patients food restrictions are not considered and hunger is common. Personnel is here just for pay and HR should undergo a radical change. There is no patient and family concierge service to address issues as connection parents with their estranged children- a minimal effort to establish a support system. No patient has a restful night here which makes recovery impossible.Plenty of free parking and cafeteria is ok, free for some.

They employ the worst nurses who actively bully the patients and the counselors who actually are educated. I hope they shut this part of the hospital down. Go elsewhere.

Admitted myself and feel amazing now. Bad reviews are usually from those who didn't want to be there/treated. Dr. Raza and most of the staff was amazing. If there is a problem/ you feel unsafe just tell a staff member… and they will fix it.

I went to the outpatient therapy and was somehow diagnosed with 4 different mental disorders within meeting with the doctor for only 20 min. I was wrongfully diagnosed when I went a neurologist due to having seizures… which I have never had before in my 30 years of life. To find out from my neurologist that I was not bipolar and that the meds that they made me take from alexian brothers called lemotragine has now caused seizures because I was not supposed to be on them. And now when I try to call to talk to anyone about it no one answers the phones. This is a horrible place and have ruined my life I now have seizures and that's scary being a stay at home mom to a 2 year old with no one else in the home. So thank you alexian brothers for ruining my life

I began bringing my father here 25 years ago. For years i would drive from Chicago to Barrington road because there was no other hospital i trusted with my father's care. The care was stellar and ECT treatments were… lifesaving. Sadly that has not been our experience as of late. I admitted my father on the weekend of April 11. Clearly indicating pops was relapsing and was in need of ect treatments. When I dropped him off he was eating, full of life just confused. This weekend he was sent to the ER with the allegations that he stopped eating 3 days ago. He has been in the behavioral health hospital almost 2 weeks and only 1 ECT treatment was given this past Friday. They waited till my father stopped eating for 3 days to send him to the ER to die. Now the actual hospital will not release my dad because he was admitted through a petition! I use to recommend everyone to Alexian Brothers. Now I will never even mention this hospital to a soul. Thank God for Nurse Susan and Nia and the rest of the great crew from Alexian's Medical hospital on the 6th floor, I can finally take my father home and forget about the horrible experience at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health.

Very good at charging weekly but terrible communication, treatment, and giving meds with no blood test medical results! Promised to have weekly updates which did not happen. No family meetings after a month. Then gets… kicked out of program with no evidence shown, no discussion, no options. Obviously more of a reason to give the child help. Don't recommend this program if you want REAL progress.

My dad was admitted, and on his second day there, he was transferred to the medical hospital due to a serious medical event that occurred while he was in their care, which was likely caused by not taking his medications… that have successfully prevented that from happening for almost a year now. I was never notified. I only found out when I went to visit, and they told me he had been transferred to their medical hospital, but couldn't tell me why. They never evaluated him within the legally required 24-hour window. I'm his medical POA and his emergency contact, and I was stonewalled every time I tried to get information. They kept hiding behind HIPAA, which actually allows notification of a medical POA during a medical emergency. They just didn't bother. He went in for help and came out worse. His medications weren't managed properly. They told me they don't give out medications until the doctor evaluates them, but they took so long to see him. I don't even know if they ever did see him. No one at the medical hospital was able to tell me if he had been seen there or whether he had received his medication. When he was finally discharged, they couldn't find his clothes. They called the unit, the other facility, lost and found. Nobody knew. When they finally brought down his valuables, his clothes were sitting right there in the bag. They had them the whole time. This place is chaos. I've dealt with several medical facilities and different medical groups over the past couple of years, and this was the worst experience I have ever had. The staff is disorganized, the communication is nonexistent, and they failed at nearly every turn.

We thought our daughter could get some weight stabilization here. She is 20 years old and her therapist recommended the hospital for that. We didnt know she would be kept a prisoner at the behavioral center. She has… been traumatized. Please know what you are getting into before entering this place.

April of 2025 my daughter voluntarily admitted herself to get help. I was so proud of her. She did all the groups while she was there. When she came out she went to outpatient treatment everyday and seemed to be doing… so much better. Two weeks in I get a call saying she is being involuntarily admitted because they said she had a plan to take her life. I called my daughter immediately and she had no idea what I was talking about. She tried to leave and they put her in a room isolated forcibly restrained my tiny daughter . She kept asking why and they never answered her. They left her with cuts and bruises on her body and a limp. When they brought her upstairs they slammed her down on the bed and wouldn’t even bring her water for an hour. If you knew my daughter all of this was unnecessary. As I wrote this I feel sick inside. My daughter called me everyday crying and has not been the same since that day. These people do not care about patients or have any compassion . Do not send your child here.

First let’s start with a woman who was restrained to her bed and screaming for 3 plus hours straight while we were there. That alone spells understaffed. We took my mother in law there while in crisis. She was paranoid,… hallucinating and thinking her neighbor was trying to kill her using ultrasonic methods of electrocution through the ceiling. She did not see a social worker until 5 hours later and she didn’t even talk to my mother in law long because my mother in law was in crisis and was unsure of who this person was. Then after a few minutes of talking with her told us they couldn’t keep her there due to insurance. Eventually my husband who has power of attorney left the hospital to sleep. He was told they would call him when they figured out where they would transfer her. They moved her in the middle of the night to another hospital without contacting him dropped her off there and never said a word to him. We got a call from her, using her cell phone screaming and crying instead. Our healthcare system is broken. This hospital is a joke and our mental healthcare system is catastrophic. Any owner or investor of this hospital should be ashamed.

The PHP and IOP programs for eating disorders are very good, and I like that they even offer cooking classes; they really helped me. However, in the inpatient unit for eating disorder, the staff doesn't know how to… treat anxiety at all.

If you want case management and to be involved in treatment/care options or are seeking additional resources for your loved one DO NOT admit them to this hospital. Horrible case management (actually it just does not… exist), no encouragement for patients to work with their family to establish a care plan for discharge, they discharge without any plan or supports in place and with only a few hours notice. Overall, this program lacks integrity and implementing any best practice associated with mental health assistance. Save yourself the additional grief and take your loved one somewhere else. (I only selected 1 star because I could not post my warning with zero stars.)

It has been 2 years since I was in this mental health facility and I did not speak up earlier because I was scared, but I am no longer scared to voice my experiences. I went to the teen ward at 13 years old due to a… suicide attempt. When I got there I was met with a very sweet nurse whom I still think about to this day (ily Jeremy you were the only one who made my stay not absolutely horrible) anyways I got there around 9 so I went to bed practically straight away. When I woke up we had breakfast like normal but I was then met with my "psychiatrist" if you could even call her that. She was a very rude woman named Dr. Raza who acted like she had no empathy and clearly only cared for the paycheck. During my second day I had gotten a very bad migraine in which I had asked for Tylenol but was never given it and I had asked to go lay down which didn't help and I ended up screaming in pain and very irritable. A day therapist who I believe was named Scott but I'm not sure kept provoking me to the point I ran down the hallway just to get away from his voice they then tranquilized me. The next day I was put on finger foods and crayons which meant I couldn't have pencils/markers nor could I have the freedom to choose my meal (I suffered from an eating disorder which was in my chart so that was very harmful to my recovery in there) . Later that day we had a group session in which we were told to stand in the hallway and step on a line whenever we related to a question asked, after that every single person was triggered by that group to the point we needed an emergency process group on the entire activity. The next day I watched a girl being forced to sign papers for a residential treatment after being threatened that if she didn't she would be tranquilized everyday, have her clothes taken, lose her meal freedom, and be put at the isolation desk until she signed them. I had talked to this girl and she definitely was not so sick to the point of an 8 week residential. That's not treatment, that is scaring someone into compliance and lying. After that Dr Raza had to see me and was horrible as usual and told me I would never get better and that I would attempt suicide again if I didn't take the meds she gave me. (Guess who's still alive and 2 years attempt free?) She told me I was not a good daughter and that I would never make it in the real world. These are not all of the stories I have from this place but I need to cut this off here. I spent 7 days of hell in a place that didn't treat me but instead scared me into hiding my struggles.
