Apalachee Center Inc – Madison

I started seeing their clinic last month after moving here from Central Florida. I am not new to psychiatry or medication and I felt like last month the provider I saw listened, took time to talk to me and give… recommendations. This month the provider I saw joined the meeting 12 minutes late, proceeded to ask me what I’d done to my wrist that was in a brace, (catastrophic nerve denervation injury at 23 y/o that partially paralyzed my arm, wrist and fingers) and then cut me off when I opened my mouth to answer her and told me ‘that’s fine we don’t really have time’. She told me she didn’t think I needed to be put on an antipsychotic and we should stay away from it, but when I suggested a med I wanted to try she stonewalled me and told me Caplyta was the one she would give me. I stated I knew nothing of the med but if she could tell me it’s uses and if it had any negative side effects I’d try it… she told me it was an antidepressant that would work better for my anxiety with no side effects, but a quick internet search told me it is an antipsychotic, and a newer one with many side effects noted. When I tried to discuss with her my issues at work and my concerns of having undiagnosed ADHD she cut me off and told me I would’ve experienced it as a child. I was homeschooled and raised by two southern baptist parents, an assessment wouldn’t have been allowed no matter how much I struggled. Nobody answered when I tried to call the center twice so hoping this is seen and addressed because that was ridiculous and I’ve not ended an appt feeling so unheard or cared about in a long time.

The Drs here have helped my loved one very much. It's a bit hard to get in contact with them, but keep trying!

I wouldn't even give it one star ... No one ever answers the phone. Mental health is no joke. But to reach your case worker isn't possible

They do not answer phone. You can leave a message with never a call back. You will run out of medicine because you cant get ahold of anybody. They can't keep counselors there I've been through three and mine left I… believe in May and I've not had any contact with these people no appointment no video chat I've had to call the Tallahassee and Perry office to try to get them to contact the Madison office so I could get medicine I've tried for a week and a half now left numerous messages I'm out of medicine today

They don't answer the phone

Certain staff is good, others need to enhance their attitude and become more professional (maintaining respect and privacy of clients and/or their families). When a family member become involved in their family's care,… they should be assisted with as much information as possible - other than chasing the Caseworker or staff down for help.
