Our experience at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center was unforgettable, mostly in the same way getting rear-ended is unforgettable. My wife was about six months pregnant when she started having symptoms that looked a… whole lot like premature labor, along with crippling pain. Naturally, we went to the emergency department. There, we were told that unless it was actively life-threatening, the ER couldn't really help and we'd need to go over to Labor & Delivery instead. So, while my wife was doubled over in pain and potentially going into labor several months early, we got the deluxe hospital sightseeing package via wheelchair to the other side of the building. About 45 minutes later, she finally got a room. Roughly an hour after we arrived, a nurse came in and hooked her up to the monitors. And then, with truly breathtaking efficiency, the hospital sprang into action. Billing arrived. Not the doctor. Billing. Because apparently, when a woman six months pregnant shows up in severe pain with possible premature labor, the really urgent question is not, "Is the baby okay?" It's, "So, how are we handling payment today?" I have to give them credit: the financial side of the operation was moving like a NASCAR pit crew while the medical side was apparently observing a strict three-hour warm-up period. We got all the important payment details sorted out, which was comforting, because God forbid there be any ambiguity about who was getting billed while we were still waiting to find out what was medically happening. About three hours later, we finally saw the doctor. By that point, fortunately, the symptoms had resolved on their own and everything had normalized. The doctor essentially confirmed that things looked okay and that whatever had been happening appeared to have passed. So, for around $4,000, we received a wheelchair tour, several hours of waiting, prompt financial counseling, and eventual confirmation that the emergency had kindly resolved itself before the physician arrived. I understand hospitals get busy. I don't expect a trauma team to rappel from the ceiling the second someone walks in. But when a woman six months pregnant arrives in crippling pain with symptoms of premature labor, you'd think "medical evaluation" might appear somewhere above "collect billing information" on the priority list. Based on our experience, Banner Thunderbird has earned a prestigious spot near the very top of our "places we hope never to need medical help from again" list. Five stars for billing efficiency, though. Those folks do not mess around.
My medical experience was way worse, but don’t accidentally get walk in with a pocket knife, their security will treat you like a criminal.. going on 2months now.
I am writing this review as a Doula. The Nurse in L&D Cheyenne is absolutely amazing! You can feel when someone has the energy that youre just going to click with and she didnt disappoint. She was patient,… understanding, very helpful, informative, she really was a one man show. She pratically did it all by herself. My client was hoping that she could have her baby before her shift was over because she can also pick up on her amazing energy. The entire team is great but Cheyenne really shined through today. Thank you Cheyenne!!!
Nowhere to park. Wait time for emergency service is too long. Navigating on foot is impossible. Employees are generally nice and helpful. Waiting areas are too crowded.
Employees are amazing
So grateful for Tatiana who was my son’s nurse after he got his appendix out. She listened to me and got the doctors to understand my side to best help my son. She made our experience seamless as we made our journey… home. Thanks Tatiana!
I just want to say that Banner ER this past Thursday night and Friday early morning the whole staff took great care of me after a terrible accident where I rolled my Jeep. They went above and beyond the call of dury.… God Bless the whole staff. And a special thanks to the Charge Nurse Bailey for making me feel at ease after the fact and taking my calls and discussing things with me and giving me clarity. God Bless Bailey and the whole staff.
Unfortunately I have had way to many hospital visits, especially in the last five years. Every Banner Medical Center is the same, Fantastic! Every member of their staff, the nurses, doctors, are all top-notch in every… way. Banner employees earn the respect of everyone — they treat every patient like they were their only patient!
I had an excellent experience at the Banner Thunderbird rehab facility. People are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend it.
My experience from start to finish with Banner Health Medical was excellent! The care from check in staff, volunteers, nurses and doctors was exceptional and when going in for any treatment or surgery was highly… comforting!
This was my second pregnancy, but my first time delivering at a Banner facility, and unfortunately, it was the worst experience I’ve ever had. If your OB only delivers at this hospital, I strongly suggest doing your… research and considering finding another OB so you have the option to deliver somewhere else. I truly wish I would have done that myself. Giving birth should be an experience where you feel safe, supported, listened to, and cared for. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here, and I would not recommend this hospital to other expecting mothers.
Been to Banner PT for 2 different problems. Love Ed. He listens, is considerate and try’s very hard to help get you back to before surgery. Also staff ALL are friendly and helpful if needed.
Surgery thru rehab your teams gave me great care and confidence with each step of my journey. Scary stuff but 'We did a great job'!
Excellent! I was treated with dignity and respect.
Very disappointing experience at Banner Thunderbird. We spent nearly 5 hours in the ER while in severe pain from a dental abscess with facial swelling so significant his eye was swollen shut. Dr. Ariel Cohen was… dismissive and provided very little explanation of his CT results or the extent of the infection. Despite the pain and swelling, we were essentially told to see a dentist, take ibuprofen, and were sent home with antibiotics. When his symptoms continued, we went to another Banner ER where the doctor reviewed the CT with us, explained the infection, and treated his swelling and pain with a steroid, lidocaine, and pain medication in addition to antibiotics. We understand an ER cannot fix the underlying tooth, but the difference in communication, compassion, and symptom management was remarkable.
I was brought into emergency by EMT and I found them to be very caring and efficient. My stay at the hospital was four days and I never felt Alone there was always a nurse to care for me!
My mother was in tower A second floor . She is scheduled for pain meds every 2 hours i was there from 8am left arond 1130am nobody had been to her room . and got notice at 730pm that she just got somthn for her pain. My… mother pushes the call button for the nurse and nobody ever enters the room before an hour and a half . Worst hospital to come to . Its crazy because i was born here. And i dont need a reply from the (owner) because probly has nothing to do with you its the ppl that actually work there.
Will never come here again. Hospital is extremely slow. ER waiting room is worse ive seen. The smells in there are like a homeless camp. Wouldn't wish this place on anyone. Floor is disgusting. Hair, fluids, trash in… the triage nurse station rooms.
great place
All of the staff here were so friendly, professional, and helpful! I was so nervous for my appointments but they did an amazing job not only reassuring me, but delivering exceptional medical care. Minus one star because… billing was unhelpful and sounded irritated all the time, but honestly that's the case with any medical billing staff since they have to deal with insurance..
Thorough, professional and caring. Dr. Mehta explains everything and welcomes questions.
