Coleman Health Services – Kent Detox and Rehab Services
Coleman Health Services – Kent carries a listing for partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and outpatient care. Day programming is scheduled, with evenings spent at home. The right level of care is a clinical judgement rather than a preference, and an assessment should produce a defined answer.
Co-occurring mental health conditions are addressed alongside substance use, which is the approach the evidence supports. It is worth asking how many hours a week the program runs, because that decides whether it fits around everything else.

Coleman Health Services – Kent Reviews and Ratings
Reviews are where patients and families describe Coleman Health Services in their own terms: the welcome at admission, the counseling, the planning for life after treatment.
Reading them is a sensible step before calling the Kent facility. Writing one, if you have been treated there, helps the families who come next.
Who do I contact via email about my ex who was a Coleman client stealin over 500$ worth of my devices and selling them. But Coleman made me pay him $500 when he also was stealing money from me a month I also tried to… tell ppl what he stole and 2 Coleman workers and my in home staff cornered me I tried to go into a bathroom out they open door. Like I had to go bathroom. They choked me out with a phone charger and said I did that to myself
Horrible for mental health diagnoses. I recommend Cleveland clinic Akron general over Coleman any day. I hope this helps those wondering where they should go to help finally achieve that happiness that they deserve.
I have been goin here since 2023. I didn’t sign up myself to go here I was in an apartment complex and already had a company for counseling only. The complex forced me to go here then they started putting me on pills… that would make me dizzy and walk into walls unwillingly early in the morning. I was told when I started here I was allowed to refuse medication but they forced me to get these shots in my arm (once in my thigh which I bled like crazy cause it was in my leg that used to have a deadly clot in). My drs here belittled me and allowed my verbally abusive in house staff to demand new meds for me to be put on. I was never explained what the meds were for or what they could do to me. Few times my med dr acted like I was low functioning cause I was emotional from verbal, physical and mental abuse I was facing on a daily basis. A few times I was called retarded tho cause I mentioned I choked a few times on a pill. I now if I take pills I choke no matter what cause I was forced on 9+ random pills I didn’t even know what they did. So yeah thanks I’m now in a new county so I’m glad I don’t go here any more
Because I'm on the hefty side I couldn't go shopping with the caseworker because I couldn't buckle up. And you guys don't allow seat belt extensions it makes me unable to buckle up. Fix it or I'm sueing you
If you don't want to be taken seriously, go here.
The receptionist in the children's area is amazing! Jessica is an amazing councilor and has really helped my child.
I was in counseling stopped it for a year wanted to get back in but needed a recommendation?? Took a year of asking at every appointment and still haven't gotten in. Don't ever expect the ppl at the front desks to be… nice they almost always have aditudes.
I've been coming to Coleman since I was 26, they have seen me at my very best and at my very lowest. The people who complain on your reviews clearly are blind because Coleman will treat you the way you treat them. The… receptionist are always friendly and kind they are always smiling when you walk in, and they are patient. The staff are very nice. Sometimes they are rushed and don't seem pleasant. That isn't the case. I owe my life to Coleman because they saved my life on more than one occasion. I wouldn't be sober, happier and on the right medicine I am now without the help from Coleman. I have the best caseworker out there who busts her butt to make sure I am okay and we get stuff done on time while having 30 other people on her caseload. The times I've gone to their Ravenna psych ward and took me in when I didn't deserve it, let me practically live in their office because I was homeless and let me use their room with the shower attached, I can't begin to express how deep my love and gratitude is for this place. I absolutely love my psychiatrist and how hands on she is, she listens to what I say and suggest, doesn't treat me like I'm some med dispensary and pays attention to when I'm down or happier too. The therapy is fantastic. They have so much offer if you're willing to try with them.
Being the only mental health services in portage county and ONLY accepting Medicare or Medicaid is an absolute JOKE.
Front desk staff are generally unresponsive, do not pay attention to questions asked or conversations being held. They are more often than not distracted by lunch/something on their phone. Most often rather 'snippy'.… For a mental health clinic, they have horrible front staff. However, their psychiatric staff is very kind and understanding. At least in my experience, that is.
I wish there was a no star A couple years ago I would fight someone talking bad about Coleman until this experience I just had. I was scared to take Welbutrin about 3 years ago I started taking it daily. I had a nice… little stash from all the times I was prescribed and didn’t take. Well last October I lost my Medicaid. So whyyyy would I pay cash for medicine I already have because my new insurance sucks. Well I’m almost out of my medication go in for and appointment because I didn’t come in for any recent appointments. WHY would I want to get in more debt and have to pay for the office visit AND medicine I already have? 🤔 Make this make sense. Mind you I work for Drs so I KNOW how this goes. So really the problem is they aren’t getting my money. It’s SO easy to remember if you want to. I have NEVER seen a mental health place do so much mental cruelty to someone. So now I’m going to be without my medication because I didn’t come in enough even tho I didn’t need to? This is INSANE Anyone taking welbutrin knows you do not just stop taking it! Shame on Dr Welch
A joke of a therapy place. Had me fill out a bunch of information for them that I got a letter in the mail two weeks later it was stolen by someone. Been going here for years and I feel disgusted. How is your only… advice to an abusive relationship is a pamphlet of things to discuss. You try to hospitalize me as well but then say you don’t have any room to, so why did you waste 3 hours of my time having me sit there. Furthermore, I never once got any better from the years of coming here. You were charging me without even informing me after 6 months, then as we figure out a way for me to still attend and take care of the balance, I receive another notorious letter from you guys that my therapist is dropping me. Right after my balance is cleared.
Moved out of state and now can’t be seen at my new place because they need my Ohio records and Coleman excepts ppl to drive 8 hours to sign a piece of paper absolute jokes
I've had the worst experience with this place smh I do not recommend at all Extremely unprofessional and judgemental
i have been an off and on patient ever since i was a kid. about a decade or so? and after going to a ward where i got proper help, it has helped me realize how poorly run this place is. the desk people are more often… than not snippy. if you have a disorder that's seen as resistant? your doctors want nothing to do with you, and you can tell. i have always had this issue here. the turnover rate is incredibly high. in the past, i had lapses in care due to counselors leaving; which i wasn't notified of that fact, nor was there any effort on coleman's end to get me with someone new. if you have the ability to go anywhere else (there's some good places in stow and ravenna) you definitely should. i am sure there's probably some fine psychs and therapists at coleman, but with what i know now? i wouldn't take the risk personally.
Called as new pt, asking if a specific doctor took new pts. I was asked 'what ins do you have?' Ans: Medicare & Medicaid. Asked 'what county I live in.' Answer Portage. "We can't take you, since Medicare is your… primary, we don't take Medicare." I responded that either could be billed, I already checked with Medicaid. "We don't take Medicaid." I responded "what is wrong with you people, really, what is wrong with you?" She hung up on me. I checked website. Both Medicare & Medicaid listed as insurances they accept. I called back, asked for a manager; of course, they were in a meeting. Explained above convo to 2nd person, website lists both ins, "what is the problem?" I was accused of "screaming." I was not screaming. Tactic on her part to justify being rude to me is all that was. I was given more contradictions and elusive answers. This is a MENTAL HEALTH FACILITY?! I've never dealt with such condescending and incompetent staff from a healthcare facility. This facility needs INVESTIGATED!
Can not get a straight answer from staff whether or not I am eligible to be seen. One week its I am eligible, to the next that I am now longer eligible and need to look elsewhere. One minuet is that it is a quick… appointment and the next is its a huge and time consuming process to be seen. Just so much misinformation is given to a potential client that I would not waste my time and would suggest that anyone considering them to look elsewhere as I have done.
hope you don’t get medication withdrawals.
Portage county has very limited counselors. I had one for 4 years and she left there in october it is now august and still no counselor. If you need counseling do not go here
Waited 4 weeks for an intake appointment, that was initially supposed to be telehealth since I’m moving, then I get a call a week before my appointment saying I’ve been double booked so they needed to adjust my… appointment until this morning. I had to wait 20 minutes for Tina to show up and when I asked if this is typical, her previous appointment running 20 minutes over, and she said it’s not her responsibility—everything should be blamed on her scheduler. I really deserved better. My schedule didn’t work out to spend nearly the first half of my hour just waiting, wondering if something else got messed up with my FIRST appointment. This place is not dependable, if you’re really needing help, seek another place. It’s more stress than it’s worth. There’s more people and psychiatrists that care enough to show up when they say they will.
This place should be closed down!Im on my third Casemanager after 2 years of getting no help at all.Now in the last couple months I’ve been lied to by two different workers about help I was promised to receive and no… results.Do not waist your time.
I will update this review if my experience changes, but as of right now I am extremely disappointed. I scheduled an intake appointment several weeks ago, was told that it was on Nov 12 and that I would be seeing someone… personally in the building. I was also told that my insurance was in network. I called today to verify the time of my appointment and that nothing had changed (just in case they had switched to telehealth in the meantime or something similar) and the lady on the phone was very rude to me because she could not find my appointment or my information anywhere in the system and because I didn’t know the name of the person I would have been seeing (I was never told that I needed to know any names when I made the appointment). That woman then transferred me to pediatrics to find my appointment (I am an adult) who then had yet another woman call me back, only to tell me that they had long since cancelled my appointment because the person who scheduled it with me weeks ago did not put in any of my contact information. Not only that, but the person who originally scheduled my appointment told me that my insurance was in network, but it actually is not, AND that the person she scheduled me to see in person doesn’t even work in the building! Thank God I didn’t go out there today because a) I would have been told to go home since that person is working remotely after all, and b) if I had gone through with the appointment over the phone I would have been stuck with massive bills because I was wrongly informed of the status of my coverage.
