Jackson VAMC GV Sonny Montgomery – Jackson Reviews
What is Jackson VAMC GV Sonny Montgomery like for patients? Reviews in this section, from RehabSeekers and from around the web, describe the program in the words of patients and families who know it.
Just got done being told by the office of patient advocates that with all of my white privilege I should be able to get healthcare from somewhere other than the VA. I wasn't even there for me. I was there as an advocate… with another veteran. "Dis up hur ain't even fuh y'all no mo". Direct quote from the recording my boy made while we were in the VA. When I asked what she meant, her response was "y'all white ain't ya"?
I respect what this building stands for. I question some of the information I receive from here. As a homeless veteran since 2022 and then again in 2024 to currently, getting assistance after calling the national… hotline has been strained. When talking with Ms. Victoria during both instances and again as recently as Friday, I question practices to serve the homeless there. In September of 2023 I was referred to Hudvash and SSVF (Hattiesburg) for assistance through the VA medical center. I was told I could use either or. I chose SSVF since I was a victim of identity theft and did not have steady income to maintain the requirements for Hudvash. After 1 year I was evicted. No explanation, no meetings with the agency to assist with employment or check on progress as discussed in the onboarding of the program. Just an eviction through the Hinds County court stating my husband and I owed a 3500 debt because SSVF did not pay BEH enterprises. My husband and I moved in with his mom and have been trying to reestablish ourselves after the identity theft. When speaking with Ms. Victoria a social worker there I asked her about the time frame for a referral since in 2023, I received the referral one week and got in to do paperwork the next week for a voucher that I received. It was an expedient process. Ms. Victoria told me the referral was made to Hudvash and I just had to wait until I become next on the list. I explained to her about the previous experience in 2023. She told me she was looking in my file and she does see a housing referral opened in Decembr of 2025 and Closed January of 2026. I explained to her that I initially used the service in 2023. I did meet with someone in December 2025 who did not ask for ID or anything at the VA medical center in a conference room where she had me signing off on papers leading me to believe I would be getting assistance soon and nothing happened. It is August. I became tired of trying to speak to someone around that time and began to continue try to handle issues around my identity theft. The point of the matter, I question why is a debt of 3500 dollars showing up owed by my husband and I for BEH Enterprises when SSVF was suppose to be paying the rent and why would Ms. Victoria not have record of my initial referral from 2023?
Just wanted to say how much I appreciate the energy, talent, and skill of "The Green Clinic" 🙏Thank everyone for everything you do!
2026 -- WASTE OF TAX DOLLARS -- I really hope this VA becomes better to its Veterans. We fought for our country. v/r Patrick Blair
lots of running around in circles with little to know actual help.
I know medical centers—especially VA facilities—can receive mixed reviews, but I want to take a moment to highlight the amazing work and dedication of the staff at the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center in… Jackson, MS. I have friends who work here, and I’ve seen firsthand how much they genuinely care about the veterans they serve. Many of the doctors, nurses, and support staff go above and beyond every day, often under challenging circumstances, to make sure veterans are treated with respect, compassion, and dignity. The staff works hard to listen, advocate, and provide the best care possible, and that commitment does not go unnoticed. Our veterans deserve kindness and dedication, and there are many people at this facility who truly deliver that. Thank you to the staff who show up every day and give their best to those who have served our country.
Super slow in the ER and when you have an appointment with your Dr. you just wait, wait and wait. Why is that? I’ve already heard 2 Veterans saying that they are tired of waiting and hour past their appointment time . I… know the VA is busy everyday but you have plenty of Drs and nurses here. I don’t see where the VA is hiring so what’s the darn problem.
How are you going to send me a letter saying my nasal spray has been recall, but continue to use it, and place an order for a replacement as soon as possible. But when I called the pharmacy they tell me they can't… refill for 2 months. "make it make sense" But overall my service has been great here, the review is meant only for this one isolated incident.
One of the best VAs around
I love going to the VA a place where everyone knows my name. I have been going to my VA since 1992. Thanks everyone for your love and kindness extended towards me each and every time I have an appointment. It feels like… I am going to see family sometimes …
Why would you have a medical Facility without voice mail? Because they don’t want the responsibility of following through with patients. In the past five years I’ve never had my provider contact me about the results… from wellness exam bloodwork. I’ve never even had the same doctor for any extended period of time and almost all of them have a first language other than English. The support staff is always friendly and I have seen improvements in the past couple years but there’s a long way to go.
After reading other posted reviews, I must admit I have experienced most of them. However, if I have the time to complain, I have the time for applause. Everyone does not have the privilege of receiving treatment from… the Pink Clinic. Therefore, I must bring attention to one of their brightest stars, Nurse of the Year, LPN Jeanette Adams. She serves and gives of herself incessantly. Every visit is like seeing a good friend. Thank you, Ms . Jeanette!!🩷
Did my cancer treatment there and chemotherapy treatment and radiation treatment there too 😁😁. For almost 2 years ago 😊😊
Awesome people and the best care I’ve had at a VA hospital
Jackson really takes care of their veterans.
I have NEVER Experienced such neglect! The "associates " for a vast majority talk to you like you are garbage. Travel Pay is a joke! They don't pay you for 7 months at a time then find every reason to deny a valid… claim. If you request a refill for a prescription... Go ahead and expect it a month later if your lucky. I did not receive a dentist appointment for over 3 years and the detriment to my teeth was so bad, they have had to pull ALL my top teeth. I have called everyone I know from state representatives to the Patient Advocate and NO ONE HELPS! This facility embodies the systematic breakdown in Veteran Care. No wonder there are so many veterans who refuse to get care. When you are treated like this place, it easier to suffer from the hands God has dealt then to suffer from the hands from a bunch of neglectful people who show up just for the paycheck! Trust me. Don't go here. If you are moving and this will be your VA, Move somewhere else. If you can, Save Yourself and go somewhere else. NO ONE CARES. NO ONE!!
There are so many things I’d like to attack here. So I’ll wavetop, because I don’t have time for this; customer care (what’s that?), a phone conversation (unless you have a half hour to suffer through elevator music and… a voice recording reminding you you’re still on hold - nope), and there are others- but the problem is not the doctors or the pmc’s. It’s the McDonald’s employees that have somehow managed to weasel their way into an organization that was born out of mass protests due to the neglect of ailing veterans. To anyone new to the VA Hospital of Jackson, MS: Godspeed.
