Newport Academy – Port Townsend Address, Location and Contact Information
Records give the address as 3804 Hastings Avenue West, Port Townsend, Washington, 98368. Port Townsend sits in Jefferson County. The catchment reaches beyond the city itself. How someone gets there matters more than it sounds: travel is one of the commonest reasons a course of treatment stops partway.
It is worth calling first to confirm access, parking and the shape of a first visit. Where travel is difficult, ask whether an initial appointment can be held remotely. Where no one answers, leaving a message and calling again later usually works better than giving up.

Newport Academy – Port Townsend Reviews and Ratings
Reviews of Newport Academy appear in this section, gathered from around the web and from patients and families who share their experience on RehabSeekers.
My son went to Newport Academy a few years ago when he was 16. He was treated for trauma and substance abuse. The communication with the staff at the facility was excellent from start to finish. My son reports that the… therapists were great, In particular the trauma therapist and family therapist. My husband and I found the family therapy to be very helpful. My son and I would recommend Newport Academy.
I went to Newport Residential at Port Townsend on March 30, 2026 to May 8, 2026. I went there hope to get recovery, support for my depression and my suicidal ideation. Initially, my experience there is very good. I made… friends with supportive people, did EMDR therapy, learned mental health skills that improved my life. The staff and patients there is nice. I start to like it. However, everything changed from May 3, 2026 to May 8, 2026. At May 3, 2026 at 12:00pm, I started to get bullied by other new patients at Newport Residential. From 5-3-2026 to 5-8-2026, I got verbally abused (called the f word, called a loser), emotionally abused (people said intensive humiliation things at me), physically abused (got hit and punched, got objects thrown at me, got head injury), harassed, and humiliated (during community meeting, another patient announced to everyone that I should not be at Newport and I impact Newport negatively). This destroyed my life, and even worse, staff there did nothing about the bullying for 5 days, refused to look at security cameras, and falsely claimed that patient to patient abuse is allowed because the patient bill of rights only apply to staff members treating patients (which is completely false). I got so upset that I did minor property damage there. Because of the property damage, Newport forced me to discharge on May 8, 2026. Even worse, the documents Newport had about my discharge said that I got discharged because I can’t control my anger and did property damage, and it didn’t say anything about the severe bullying and abuse (physical abuse as well). Newport also sent this false document to my school as well. After I got discharged from Newport, I got very traumatized. I watch 9 hours of screen time a day, didn’t go back to school yet, and am isolated. I hope this reminds everyone that sometimes, not living at home may not be a good option and is risky. Newport residential star rating: 4 stars before the bullying Newport residential star rating: 1 star during the bullying Total Newport residential star rating I give: 2 stars combining the positive experience in April 2026 and the bullying in May 2026.
This place is a joke! They allowed my son to be bullied over and over again, he has multiple trips to the doctor due to physical injuries...and now that he isnt there anymore, I have spent WEEKS trying to get the… medical records they have (they gave him 2 diagnosis while there), and NOBODY will respond or help me when I call.
Don't waste the money on Newport I went there not knowing why I was there and voiced that to all of my counclers and therapists and they acted empathetic towards it but they ended up keeping me there for 43 days not… knowing what to do with me they had me working on things I didn't even have a problem with all the time and when I voiced that to them they said that we need to find something for me to work on because I cant just go home, there were only a few good staff members there who actually understood my situation and agreed that if I'm not doing anything I need to leave, and they promised me all these great things when I left but I've been out for 2 months and haven't gotten a single thing they promised. They straight up keep kids for money and don't believe the pictures because the actual nice ones are super fake. Have a blessed day
Great place. However, php unironically undid everything this place did for me.
I had a good time in Newport academy fixed my problems and staff were nice made friends, first when I got here I was lowkey scared but friends what really made me wanna stay here. elite experience
We hit a wave of teenage destructive behavior at my house and we didn’t know what to do. At first I put this facility in my pocket and thought things might get better, guess what, they didn’t. They hit an all time high… that made me call at 3am desperate for help. Every single person I spoke to, every therapist, doctor, nurse, and staff member was exceptional. My son left 5 days after the blast of “this isnt safe behavior anymore”. It was the best decision we have made for our son. I would recommend this facility to anyone. Our son had a wonderful 6 weeks focused, re-learning how to live, re-learning himself. Can’t say enough about Newport Academy!
I was on the verge of suicide. I wanted nothing more than to smoke weed and play video games. I fell into a horrible spiral that made me think the only way out was through killing myself. Then I got sent to Newport and… at first I hated it with every ounce in my body. I made the argument that I didn’t need it and I could get sober on my own. But as time carried on I started to lean into the program. Newport saved my life and I will forever be grateful. The food is some of the best I’ve had, the staff is kind and caring and the clients are crazy but in a lovable way. If you are thinking about Newport please do consider it because they truly are there to help you!
Newport was the most phenomenal time of my life, the staff amazing, alumni director amazing, food amazing, I got to be a CL and my other friends I made were amazing I will never forget the impact this place had on me.
My son went to the Port Townsend location 2 years ago, he was 15 at the time and we needed help, that is how we found them. The counselors only focused on what us, the parents did wrong and how we could make it better.… I believed them that I was the reason he struggled, well 2 year later of the gentle approach my beautiful son is dead from his addiction. There are videos on his phone about how manipulated the counselor and how he learned to be more sneaky. I am so angry that I sent him to this “summer camp” and not a facility that would help him and help me learn to fight his addiction.
Newport Port Townsend was transformational for my son who was there for severe depression. Their strength is their people. They stuck with him even when he didn't want to change. Their goal is not to just turn up to… work. Their goal is to help people who need help. Then layer on that they are skilled professionals who know what they're doing. My son's clinical director, family therapist and our primary point of contact, named Angel, had a lifechanging impact on my son. She did not shy away from the questions that needed to be addressed. The CCs like Jaimison and Bailey walked every step with my son. He also did well academically while at residential thanks to Ryan and the academic staff. The team at Newport Port Townsend nurtured him and guided him to change. He discovered new interests and talents he didn't know he had. We have our son back. I don't give this review lightly. We have not had the same experience with other facilities - but what matters is my son got the help he needed when he needed it most, at Newport Port Townsend, when he was at his lowest and most vulnerable. Thank you, Newport Port Townsend. We are very grateful.
Being at Newport Port Townsend residential was a great experience for me. I went there at a deep, dark, and sad time in my life, and my time there was great. The thing that had the most impact on me was the staff. All… of the staff at Newport Port Townsend really cared. None of them got on my nerves too much and a few really made my stay amazing. As a hungry teenage boy trust me do not be worried about the food. They have three amazing chefs always preparing hearty breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks. They would only repeat meals every two weeks and 80% of the meals were really good. They were also really good at accommodating for allergies and diets like they would cook chicken for someone who couldn't eat the pork in the meal so they still got protein. Overall, Port Townsend Residential was a great place for me. And if you are even considering residential in the first place I would highly recommend it. Taking some time to get away from my old unhealthy life and be encouraged into a new one really helped me.
i loved this place. this place changed my life. i plan to relapse and go back :)
Newport port townsend. this residential facility was by far my best mental health treatment experience, the staff are good people, the facility stays fairly clean (though in one of the pods there is a constant smell),… the nursing team is nice as well though some are disrespectful. the groups can be somewhat out of focus but are still helpful. They dont use the 12 steps but they have AA and recovery groups. there is also MMA which is extremely fun, they teacher there is one of the best people ive ever met. the food is decent, kinda limited in options but ok overall beware you will eat a LOT of chicken though.
During my stay, I think my favorite thing about the program was the staff you could really tell they care about their job and what they do. There were also resourceful groups all day stuff that really helped and kept me… busy. My favorite group was the MMA group with James I also really enjoyed lifting weights at trek.
I stayed here in 2023 Summer, and it changed my life in a way where I could enjoy life again. One of my favorite parts of Newport were the staff, because of their positivity and how they treated me was amazing and made… me feel safe again. I grew as a person while I was there. Thank you Newport.
da best place
Newport saved my life! Gave me amazing tools to use that helped me get through school and bouts of depression and anxiety. I’m much stronger now thanks to Newport.
good place 👍
helped me a lot with my mental health family issues, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone
could have been better, never felt more suicidal than in this building
After reviewing different options we came across Newport Academy. A campus away from the busy life, so someone can focus on themselves. The counselors and support they provide are excellent. They were able to help our… teenager become recentered. After completing the program you are able to see the positive impact the Academy has had on him. We greatly appreciate all the staff for always being available to answer questions and assisting along the process.
10/10 would recommend for those struggling with addiction. Impacted my life and supported me in ways I can’t even imagine. Very caring and lovely staff.
It is rehab so I can't say that i wanted to be there, but for what it is it's a great facility with great staff that clearly care about what they do there.
I so badly wanted to say such great things about this program. The truth is that they have NO IDEA what they are doing. They need to learn how to COMMUNICATE much better. I am not a parent. I do not have kids of my own… but I took guardianship of my 16 year old cousin. I sent him here to hopefully have him find some kind of stability and possible mental health issues diagnosed and resources to help him cope in a better way after losing his parents. He was depressed, using self harm, anxiety and overall mood disorders that were not yet diagnosed. There are things that Newport did right. They gave good coping skills and things he could use daily. The over interaction helped him become more social but, they also did things that I find to be wrong. Me and my husband were nothing but supportive in helping him find his own path and gender identity the school went behind our back and started giving out treatment options such as “ hormonal therapy paper work, gender identity work books, razors and cotton to stuff areas of the body” NONE of this was ran through me or my husband. You would think a program that is based off Trust would give the parents the opportunity to create those trust bonding experiences. We had no idea he was being sent home with a shaver after he was found doing Self harm while in our care. This created MUCH WORSE problems for the child as he came back and felt he could “ Do what he wanted because Newport told him he could express himself and no matter what we said. He felt that we didn’t need to know his personal business” While trying to have conversations and build trust all that was taken away because Newport Counselors / directors felt that they were the “ much needed parent” for the child to make those decisions while he was in their care and did not discuss those things to the ACTUAL parents/ guardians that have to try to fix their mess. This caused us to be shut out completely! He came back worse then when we sent him in. This caused him to turn to lying more, talking back and as far as getting trouble with police. I don’t blame Newport for all of this, because he did exhibit troubling behavior before but this program definitely did not help. I talked with Nina the clinical director and while she was apologic and took the advice I gave her. If your child is having gender issues I would most definitely NOT send them here. Nina admitted this is new and they don’t really know how to handle it. Now on to other issues. I have yet to see any claims filed for these services through my insurance. I was told that I was guaranteed 30 days. They still had him in their care going on 30 days and I had to call and get upset because no one told me when he was getting out. Mind you we live in Utah and would need to buy plane tickets and time off work to get him. My insurance told me after 30 days nothing would be covered because pre/cert was denied for anything longer. Newport knows this. They are not stupid this something a lot of medical facilities do and blame on insurance. My insurance was up front and transparent with me that anything after 30 days would be my responsibility out of pocket. After having to get upset with Newport they finally “scholarshiped” him for 2 weeks I was able to get things figured out for pick up. Also I was suppose to have FULL on help with getting him into a lower level of care coming back to Utah. This was a complete nightmare. The insurance denied it and while Newport continued to tell me it was all the lower levels cares fault and my insurance fault it was in fact not. Newport used PHP care to get him into “inpatient” treatment and they KNEW that my insurance would deny PHP and that he would only be eligible for IOP when he came out but they did not tell me that! You would think that Newport would have found me something else?!? Nope after multiple conversations with Leia she said I’ll send some options over and never heard back. There is ZERO communication between all aspects of this company. From drop off to pick up two star experience.
Im 2.5 years sober now because of newport and couldn’t be more thankful for such an amazing facility i would really love to be a speaker at the port townsend facility on a speaker night to show and prove to the kids… that someone their age that went to that facility can actually turn their lifestyle around and be genuinely happy with the awesome help of the staff at newport!!
When I first arrived at Newport, I had no idea how much it was going to help me. I’m my 6 weeks of being there, I learned all about how day to day activities can be utilized as coping skills and relapse prevention… strategies, and I made some really close friends along the way. So the only thing I think I can say is thank you for giving me my life back❤️
