My brother had a mental health appointment today and I don't know what to do with the phone.
If I could rate 0 stars I would. How this place hasn’t been sued and shut down is WILD. Insanely unprofessional & they give 0 cares about the safety of the children they choose to send home when they’re not ready. My… daughter DURING VISITATION threatened suicide when she gets home, there’s cameras and a person who works there that monitors the visits and they discharged her the very next day stating she was fine to leave and that it’s not a place to hold a child so I can “get a break” I am beyond disgusted w this place
They were all so nice
i warn you, Do NOT bring you children here. at first i read all the other reviews and also thought it couldn't be that bad, then i was willingly admitted there to help with my panic syndrome. Not only did this place not… help it made my condition 10 times worse. I dont know how they can call themselves a hospital there are no doctors, psychiatrists, or therapists on site. if you send your children here they will see a doctor virtually for 10 minutes a day and spend the rest of the day in what is basically a childrens prison where the nurses not only dont help but dont care. Please, Please listen to the reviews and send your children somewhere else. This place needs to be shut down.
A loved one of mine had a horrible experience here. I would not wish this on my worst enemy.
This place was the worst experience of my life. I was baker-acted at the age of 11, and forced to go here against my own will, and the will of my parents, as well as my extended family. I was sent from St. Joseph's… children's hospital, and ended up at this glorified prison. You enter a screening room where two people have you strip down to your underwear, regardless of age or gender, and examine your body for signs of self harm. This utterly meant nothing, as I had no signs of committing self harm to myself, and they still sent me in. A part of me wonders if the screening was even necessary, as I was forced to wear the clothing they provided. The clothes were nowhere near comfortable, and were extremely rough on the skin. Not to mention that I, and around 20 other kids, were forced to wear these same clothes for the entire time of staying at this place. After getting dressed, I was sent to a room and had to live with a roommate who was clearly in a more severe state than I was, even though I told the staff that, at the time, I had severe social anxiety and preferred to be alone. They did not listen to a word I said when it came to comfort, or any form of entertainment, either. Surprisingly, the beds were actually comfortable, but all the rooms were just two beds, two shelves, and a granite desk. For entertainment purposes, I'd toss a pillow into one of the bookshelves like it was golf… until I was told to stop. After “getting settled” I was forced to go to a very shoddy cafeteria where both males and females were squashed together and forced to socialize. I never did that unless we were watching a movie, which we all would rather do… of course we couldn't. TV time was limited to night only out of the 12-16 hour day of just sitting around and rotting until something happened. Even if something did happen, it wasn't much. We'd either go outside and cook in the Florida sun, or go to a gym with deflated basketballs and small weights. Hmm… Kinda strange how this building we were trapped in has a courtyard, a gym, a cafeteria, and rooms with doors that are locked from the outside. Kinda similar to a prison. Anyway, repeat this whole process, besides showers, for a good week and a half and that about sums up my experience. TLDR; Do not, under any circumstance, intentionally bring a child to this place. It is a prison disguised as a behavioral center, with guards outside, horrible staff, horrible food, horrible clothes, and no entertainment. They should call this place a trauma center, because that is what I got out of it. I am 22 years old when writing this, and I was sent here, against my will, 11 years ago.
The reason I'm giving 4 stars because they were being really nice to me and also good care to me. So, I decided to treat them nice too. But then i had issues with mind so i got taken to the hospital again and then i… returned until i met new people in the place but they're pretty good and nice thanks for taking care of my guys. Sincerely, Freddy De La Cruz Pérez Good luck in the job. And also say Hi to the people that work in there. Used to be bacer acted (I think that's how you say it) Even though good luck 🤞❤️🫶
Horrible place. I was there after being baker acted and it felt like hell. There are no therapists on site so you just walk around alone with your thoughts. Cried multiple times and staff just walked past me and did… nothing. They do not care about you or you well being in there. The food is awful. They provide you with barely anything to stay hygienic and provide you with no support or care. Horrible place, do not send your loved ones here!
Access for visitors is an absolute nightmare. The signage and directions are terrible, and it’s confusing just trying to figure out where to go. The food is prepared offsite and, frankly, tastes awful. They advertise… having group therapy five times daily, but in my experience, that really meant sitting around eating snacks. I’m not sure how that qualifies as therapy. Jolie, one of the nurses in the unit I stayed in, seemed more focused on shaming people for having mental health struggles than offering compassion. I even suggested she attend trauma-informed care training because her approach and language could have been genuinely harmful to someone in a more fragile state. On a positive note, most of the other staff were great; compassionate, responsive, and human. Dr. Diego, in particular, clearly has wits together and was a bright spot in the experience. The facility itself was clean and organized. However, the fact that patients aren’t allowed hand soap in the bathrooms is ridiculous and unsanitary. For a behavioral health hospital, there’s a lot that needs rethinking here; starting with empathy, food quality, and visitor access communication.
My friend was here for 48 hours worst experience ever. And they cleary have no care because of all the reviews saying how terrible this place is. it’s truly disgusting I am appalled. No service at all. Staff are very… lazy. infact this place will do nothing but just worsen you. Definitely not somewhere you’d want to send anyone. It’s crazy how nothing has been done. Like I know they see all these horrific stories. I just hope something with this place changes. And if not I will be contacting someone higher up.
I was taken in here baker acted and these 2 nurses instantly came in said I was combative and gave me shots in both arms too which point the next day I fell down in the facility they sent me too and ceased...it all came… down too stop Joseph's behavioral is going too sedate you immediatley against your will.no matter if you have never had those drugs introduced too your body ever...they dont care...they want too put you too sleep...well....I had a seizure from the shots they gave me and bust my head open while seizing....I think this is a perfect malpractice case...they gave me drugs not knowing anything about me at all and almost ended my life...someone has too stop this , people will not survive this kind of service....I am one that almost did not survive the injections they gave me...it has taken a toll on my private parts also...this is all a perfect malpractice lawsuit waiting too be filed.
This place provided excellent mental health care for me when I needed the most. Forever changed my life. I have been to multiple facilities all over Florida. And this is one of the best places for inpatient care.
I was here around july 6 to the 8th im pretty sure i dont really remember but it was pretty fun except for the search and it helped alot but i miss gypsy sm she was my fav person there and i hope to find her someday
As a service member and survivor of military sexual assault, I have never felt more degraded or dehumanized than I did under the care of BayCare Behavioral Health. I sought help during one of the lowest points in my… life. Instead of receiving trauma-informed care, I was met with judgment, bias, and a complete lack of compassion. Dr. Rodriguez labeled me as “malingering,” effectively dismissing the impact of my assault and the very real symptoms I was experiencing as a result of PTSD. To be accused of faking or exaggerating my condition—after surviving sexual assault while serving my country—is retraumatizing. This wasn’t just a misdiagnosis; it was a dangerous, negligent act that undermines the credibility of all survivors and deters others from seeking help. I would NEVER recommend anyone to go here for treatment. I already did a review so no need to send the link, I am just making sure this review touches every page that I can do a review on.
I was last here in 2017. I loved my experience. I met nice patients, and the staff were wonderful. Dr. Feldman was my favorite doctor!
This place is bad some of the stuff treat you less than human and if you need something or need help you have to chase them down for everything the only time the staff really work is when they scan ankle monitors the… only place worse than here is grace point was here for 3 days of misery
Read all of the negative reviews! This is a horrible place that harms the families and patients that are there for help. One of my dear friends has a daughter that was there and the experience was horrific!
Terrible place would not recommend just go the other direction don’t even look at this place
Dr Rodriguez rocks. He helped me to understand the correct pathway to get better. Most of the nurses and techs were wonderful. However, disrespect of patients, a lack of concern about confidentiality or Hippa, and… unprofessional behavior does occur. The Patient Bill of Rights has to be more than a poster hanging on the wall. It has to be a decree to those treating the most vulnerable of all patients. And there has to be a zero tolerance policy regarding retaliation that includes harassment toward those who file complaints under the Patient Bill of Rights. Lives are at stake.
terrible experience for my family. Bad service and treat.
the worst hospital
Terrible experiences trying to visit a family member, if I could rate it lower I could. Super lazy and took weeks for any proper updates. Would not let me see the family member bakeracted for a number of dumb reasons,… when the truth was it’s easier for them to deny me from actually visiting. Absolutely disgusting the way they run this place, and wish the bakeracted family member never went to this facility. Avoid at all costs!
