Treatment Centers in Florida That Accept AvMed

AvMed covers drug and alcohol rehab for its Florida members, defining detox, residential treatment, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient care in its 2026 plan contracts. AvMed is a Florida-only not-for-profit health plan based in Miami and owned by Sentara, and Optum manages its behavioral health benefit, including prior authorization for nearly every level of care.

Our Florida listings start from government treatment registers, cross-referenced with state licensing files, and each entry names the insurance it reports taking. AvMed’s individual plans center on Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Alachua counties, and its employer plans reach most of the state. Filter by city or by level of care to see what is close.

Common questions about AvMed

Answered from what is listed here.

Does AvMed cover rehab in Florida?

Yes. AvMed's Florida plan contracts cover mental health and substance use disorder services as essential health benefits, defining detox, residential treatment, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient care as covered levels of treatment.

Cost sharing and network rules differ by plan, and most levels above an office visit need prior authorization through Optum.

Rehabs in Floridahttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/florida/
Does AvMed cover detox in Florida?

Yes. AvMed defines detoxification as the assisted removal of intoxicating substances while keeping physical risk low, and outpatient detox is a covered service that needs prior authorization through Optum.

The Entrust Silver 350 plan lists detox as an outpatient service that can carry cost sharing beyond the regular office visit copay.

Detox Centershttps://rehabseekers.com/programs/detox-centers/
Does AvMed cover inpatient or residential rehab in Florida?

Yes, with prior authorization through Optum. AvMed covers inpatient substance use admissions and residential treatment, defined as 24-hour intensive, structured and supervised non-hospital care.

On the 2026 Entrust Silver 350 plan, an in-network inpatient stay costs 50 percent coinsurance after the deductible.

Residential Rehabhttps://rehabseekers.com/programs/residential/

Does AvMed Cover Rehab in Florida?

Yes. AvMed’s 2026 small group contract covers mental health and substance use disorder services as essential health benefits, under the contract term “Substance Dependency,” meaning alcohol or drug use that harms health or daily functioning. The same contract defines detox, residential treatment, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient care, the levels offered at many Florida drug and alcohol rehabs.

AvMed, Inc. began in 1963 as Aviation Medicine, a prepaid plan for Miami pilots, and was licensed as a Florida HMO in 1973. SantaFe HealthCare owned it from 1986 until Sentara acquired it in January 2023, and it still trades as AvMed from Doral. Optum has managed its behavioral health since January 1, 2021, replacing Magellan.

Which AvMed plans cover rehab in Florida?

AvMed’s 2026 small group, Entrust and Entrust Plus documents all list substance use services. Individual members choose Entrust HMO, Engage HMO, Empower POS or Entrust Plus POS, and employers choose Achieve, Aim, Choice, small group or self-funded plans. AvMed has no Medicaid plan and dropped Medicare for 2026, and rehabs that accept AvMed have their own page.
