DUI and DWI Programs in Florida

Florida sends people with a DUI case to DUI programs that the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles licenses and regulates under s. 322.292, Florida Statutes. Those programs run the education course and the DUI evaluation. Clinical treatment is a separate step. If the evaluation calls for treatment, it comes from providers that the Florida Department of Children and Families licenses under Chapter 397.

The listings below show providers in Florida that report taking people referred after a DUI. Each listing shows the levels of care, payment types and languages the provider reports. Details come from government treatment registers, state licensing records, accreditor listings and information the providers send in themselves.

Common questions about DUI and DWI Programs

Answered from what is listed here.

Which Florida cities have DUI programs?

Florida DUI and DWI program listings gather chiefly in Jacksonville, followed by Pine Hills, Daytona Beach, Fruit Cove and Medulla. Programs appear in large urban areas as well as smaller communities, and intake staff can confirm whether a program meets court requirements.

Orlando, Jacksonville and Palm Bay are the larger cities nearby, and people living around them can compare programs there when looking for an option close to home.

DUI and DWI Programs in Jacksonvillehttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/florida/jacksonville-fl/dui-dwi-programs-jacksonville/
Is a DUI program covered by Florida Medicaid?

Florida Medicaid is recorded as accepted by about half of the DUI and DWI programs in Florida. Coverage usually runs through a managed care plan such as Aetna Better Health, Humana Medical Plan or UnitedHealthcare. DUI education fees and treatment can be billed differently, so ask intake staff which parts Medicaid applies to.

Rehab Centers in Florida That Accept Florida Medicaidhttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/florida/florida-medicaid/
Are there DUI programs near a river in Florida?

Within 25 miles of a river sit nearly all of the DUI and DWI programs in Florida. The Little Wekiva River, Arlington River and Eau Gallie River are the most-named nearby.

Programs lie a median of about 9.6 miles from the nearest river, measured from each listed facility. For court-required programs, travel time to regular sessions and program hours usually matter more than nearby water, so both are worth asking about at intake.

Rehab Centers Near Rivershttps://rehabseekers.com/attractions/rivers/

What DUI program does Florida require, and who licenses it?

Florida requires a DUI program licensed by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, and state law uses the term DUI rather than DWI. Under s. 322.292, the department licenses and regulates DUI programs and certifies DUI instructors, evaluators and clinical supervisors.

The department also sets the rules for education, evaluation and supervision of people with a DUI, and the court order or department notice in your case states which requirement applies. Course length depends on the case, since the rules can set different requirements for a first offense, a repeat offense or a driver under 21.

Ask the DUI program which track your paperwork points to and how many hours it runs. The table shows how the three steps fit together: an education course, an evaluation by a certified evaluator, and clinical treatment from a licensed provider if the evaluation finds it is needed.
