Meridell achievement center helped me a lot I was on the falcons unit and the staff were very nice and professional a big shout out to Mr Brandon Mr Justin Mr Jeremy both Mr Coreys Miss Evelyn Mr Jeff the night staff… and my former therapist Mr David.
This is the most absolute worst place you could bring your child. I was a patient here in 2024. This is a literal prison. Every aspect of your life is controlled. And saying this is a prison is not an exaggeration. The… same things happen here. Drugs are smuggled in by other patients as well as the staff themselves. In fact while I was here a patient was beaten half to death when he was attacked by a group. His skull was fractured as well as his cheek bone. An arm and a leg broken. And their policy’s are outrageous. If you don’t agree or listen to staff instruction you are put on UR(unit restrictions) what that means is you are restricted to a sit at a table in a room you are not allowed to leave for however long the staff deem necessary. That could mean you are there for days. What ever you do, do not send your child here. Do anything else at all cost
I was sent here back in 2017 and it was one of the darkst periods of my life that still haunts me today. One of the reasons why I’m debating no contact with my parents. Parents who are thinking about sending their child… here, I advise you to thoughtfully read EVERY review made by people who were put in here. I was a troubled teen who only wanted recognition and validation, but in Meridell, my own insecurities were used against me. On top of that, we were not allowed to talk to other people in our unit (mine was Jewels), and process papers were handed out as punishment which induces fear and stress, making it almost impossible for us to actually process our actions or what we did "wrong". This place exploits patients’ vulnerability and one thing I want to leave with parents is this, please know where you‘re sending your child, because if it‘s a place that treats young impressionable teens as if they are criminals they will probably come out acting like criminals.
The worst place I’ve been to. Stripped me naked in a cold dark room allowing grown men to look at me naked and scared.
All staff were great.
If you actually care about your kids DO NOT SEND THEM HERE. I was a patient here in 2019 for five months. I had just turned 11 two weeks prior to being sent to the inpatient ‘Ravens’ unit. Immediately after entering the… unit I was strip searched and all my belongings are taken for over two days. I was forced to sit in the hallway for 24hrs and was yelled at for waving at a fellow patient. Once allowed into the day room I was not allowed to get out of my chair without raising my hand, being called on by the staff, who often not only said no, but berated me for asking. I was yelled at multiple times for looking in someone’s direction for longer than 5 seconds as that was considered “secret communication” We never left the unit except sometimes for school if the staff deemed us “well behaved enough” I got at A just for listening to the teacher read a book. If we did not stand in a perfectly straight line the staff would stop the line and have the person step out of line and berate them on how worthless they are before continuing. I was there for self harm and the one time I scratched my arm and let the staff know, thinking that’s what I was supposed to do, I was punished with 72hrs of social isolation and had my glasses taken for over 6hrs. By the time I left I was taking 13 pills a day, many being antipsychotics which I didn’t need, I, and my fellow peers would often pass out or get very sick from the over medication and were punished for it. All the five star reviews are from Parents who were not in the facility! All of my mail and phone calls were monitored and often cut short if I said anything negative about the facility. Your kids seem ‘better’ because they learned to be quiet or else they would be sent back, that and they were so medicated that they were essentially a zombie.
If I could give this facility less than one star I would. This place was and most likely still is traumatizing, as an adult I still can’t fathom going back or sending a child there under any circumstance. My therapist,… Amy Jackson, was completely unprofessional, dismissive, blatantly disrespectful and spread medical misinformation at times. My psychiatrist put me on medication that made me gain roughly 40 pounds knowing I had severe body image issues at the time, only making my condition significantly worse. Nurses would often overstep professional standards and “quiz” patients on the appearance of their medication, and sometimes gave them the wrong prescription/dose. The way staff spoke to you was dehumanizing, if you said a bad word or had an “attitude” while processing something deeply upsetting you would get on restrictions, where you are not allowed to look outside of the windows, leave the unit, make prolonged eye contact with your peers or engage in specific group activities necessary for healthy development. You had to do hours of grueling, redundant, unhelpful work. The spoiled cherry on top is that the “school time” on schedule was often misused and led several of my peers being left behind academically and having to make up credits or even graduate late. Any “progress” made at this facility is just a lie to get out of the absolute purgatory that Meridell Achievement Center is.
I love Meridell Achievement Center.
Once again, nothing but thanks a gratitude for the staff at Meridell. This was my son's second time this year (insurance denial for longer stay the first time) and both times I was very happy with the level of care my… son received. I would recommend this facility to parents over the many other RTCs I've used in the past for my oldest daughter.
This has to be the worst mental health facility I've ever been to. It's been almost half a year since I was discharged, and I still have severe PTSD from it. I have nightmares about it nearly every night, and even just… getting out of bed gives me awful flashbacks. The staff would mistreat us, the nurses and doctors wouldn't listen to anything I said, and when I was getting drastically worse, I was told that it was "part of my treatment", and "if I could survive that, I could survive anything". My brain reverted back to that of a 4 year olds while I was there because I couldn't handle the stress, and when I got back home my friends and family were talking about how I lost my personality and telling me that it was hard to understand what I was saying. It took around 2 months for me to actually start making sense while talking. Just writing about it is making me have an anxiety attack. If I was able to, I would sue. I am never going to be the same again. I don't know how they're still in business.
I may not have liked my time here back in 2008 (if I remember correctly), but I can't deny I would more than likely be in prison now rather than serving The Will of God Almighty if I hadn't gone to Meridell at the… orders of my parents.
This is a great facility... they care about the kids in their care and treat them well. Paige Crossland is amazing. She was able to connect with our child and gave him the tools to help him thru is journey.
This is a great facility, they truly care about helping the patients along with the family's. Brianna D. is probably one of the best therapists in Texas, she listens to problems and helps with the actual issues and… takes time to listen.
I cannot speak highly enough about Meridell Achievement Center and the incredible team who supported my son and our family during one of the most difficult times in our lives. When my son was admitted, we were… completely overwhelmed and felt like we had reached the end of the road after multiple inpatient hospitalizations that had not led to lasting progress. From the moment he arrived, the staff at Meridell gave us something we hadn’t felt in a long time—hope. I want to specifically recognize his therapist, Mr. David, and his psychiatrist, Dr. Wilson, whose expertise and care were instrumental in stabilizing his medication and helping him regain emotional balance. Their approach was thoughtful, consistent, and truly life-changing. I also want to acknowledge several outstanding members of the care team—Mr. Nate, Mr. Jeremy, Ms. Sasha, both Mr. Coreys, and Mr. Mario—along with so many others who showed up every day with patience, compassion, and genuine dedication. These individuals made a lasting impact on my son and his journey. My son is neuro spicy, with additional medical and health complexities, and the team not only supported him clinically, but also helped him build essential life skills, strengthen his self-confidence, and develop leadership abilities. The academic program was equally impactful—they helped him get back on track, improve his grades, and develop skills to function successfully in a school environment with his peers. Their awesome team also played a key role in re-evaluating his testing, gathering consistent data, and re-aligning his IEP so he can transition back into a traditional school setting and truly thrive with the right supports in place. As a parent, knowing my child was safe, cared for, and understood brought an immense sense of relief. Communication throughout the process was clear, consistent, and supportive. I do want to offer one area for improvement: hygiene and cleanliness. This is an area that would benefit greatly from more structured focus and oversight. These children gain significantly from consistent hygiene routines, and strengthening this aspect of the program would elevate an already strong experience. That said, the impact of this program cannot be overstated. My son turned 14 while at Meridell, and I truly believe this experience changed—and likely saved—his life, our family, and his future. He left with greater confidence, stronger communication skills, and a foundation that positions him for success if he continues to build on what he learned. He is now capable of accomplishing anything he sets his mind to. I will forever be grateful to this team for giving me my son back. For any family who feels lost, overwhelmed, and unsure of what to do next—I strongly encourage you to consider Meridell. They don’t just treat—they transform lives.
When my daughter 1st arrived she was fighting the system every step but eventually she got with the program and came home a new person. Her doctor got her medications what & where they needed to be. Her therapist was… amazing. She held her accountable for her actions and behavior and brought out the beautiful girl that was hiding underneath all of her problems. The nurses and techs were also amazing as well. I know my child will not magically lose her diagnosises but Meridell was a great start. As far as the school, I didn't really know any of the teachers but she came in with F's and left with A's, B's, & C's. I'm truly thankful for Meridell Achievement Center and the help they provided for our daughter and our family.
I can't say enough good about this place! My 11 year old had gotten uncontrollable. They got him on the right meds with the right diagnosis, updated his IEP to reflect his needs, and used behavioral therapy to help him… learn his he views the world and how to advocate for himself. They have taught him coping skills and replacement behaviors for when he is stressed or overloaded. My views as a parent were respected and taken under advisement. 10/10
I was a patient here around 2021 for 4 months. Please never send your child here. Patients were encouraged to be honest if they were having bad thoughts and if they were honest they would be isolated from the group and… be forced to “sleep out” where the staff made them drag their own thin mattress out into the hallway and sleep in the hallway at night. This place has many horror stories that can’t fit into one google review but I highly encourage you to look up the testimonies of survivors. While I was there I asked to leave early and the staff told my family that if the staff didn’t sign off on my leaving then the insurance would not cover it, effectively trapping me there until I seemed good enough to leave. The only thing I gained from this place was nightmares that have followed me for years and more issues that I am working through with a REAL therapist. I beg you to never send anyone to this place.
I was 16 when I was sent here for 5 months. Though some things were traumatizing, this facility changed my life. I'm almost 28 today and I credit this facility with saving my life as a teen. Not sure how it runs today… but thank you Meridell for saving me.
This is an amazing place to get your kids life back on track. Great therapists, nurses and management. I would like to call out few great people here. Sandy and Valentina from Business office, Amy Therapist, Vivian… Therapist, Dr.Ibad Doctor, Ariadna (Nurse), All amazing Ranchhouse staff(Sorry don't have all of your names, but each of you 🙏). Thank you . God bless you .
II was surprised to see that this center was still open after many years. I went here when I was in goster care gosh I must have been 8 or 9. This place really help me with my depression and mental Health. I was there… when there was a set of twins working I belive Casey and Joey Hooks the changes that have been made to this place are amazing keep up with the great work on helping children work through and become stronger and not afraid to be who they want to be.
When I was younger I attended this treatment center and fought it for a while. Was it hard yes but once you learn you work for your freedom and rewards the easier it gets. The program is designed to help you realize… that the real world doesn’t evolve around you and it prepares you to become aware of your actions and teaches you to be successful in handling your emotions and being able self regulate. The therapy only helps if you’re willing to help yourself move forward in life. Follow the program, do what you need to do because the end game is going to better you as a person.
Our daughter needed help. We were anxious about placing her in a residential center after reading reviews of multiple centers online. However, our doctor recommended Meridell. From our first phone call, the staff at… Meridell helped put us at ease. They walked us through the process and explained what we could expect. All the forms, handbooks, and checklists are available online. This helped us to quickly gather the information they needed. When there was an issue with the insurance, they quickly and efficiently resolved the issue. The doctors, nurses, counselors, and other staff were great. They listened to our concerns and coached us in ways to help our daughter. Fortunately, we were able to interact with the staff of her unit. It was evident they cared for the kids there. If any issues came up, they promptly called us. (In our experience with other facilities we were lucky to hear from them or even have them answer the phone) Our daughter is much improved after her stay. They worked to find a regimen of medication and taught her several coping mechanisms which has helped her to stay calm. Thanks to all of the staff at Meridell who cared for her and worked so hard to help our daughter.
I was there for 5 months in 2022, and it was a big change in my life. I was in the Falcons unit. But it wasn’t really them that truly saved me. You see, I knew things would change for the better once I got out, but it… was my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Unfortunately there is no church or ministry in there to help truly save these kids. I think that should change. Anyway, they were still a big help.
This place saved my life. Truly. Amy Jackson is the most amazing psychiatrist i have ever had. She was tough at times but also exactly what I needed. I truly love this place and would recommend it for multiple issues.… They have helped me grow and become an empathetic amazing mother and a well rounded adult which i never ever thought I could be. I struggled with multiple mental health disorders and eating disorders thier program is tailored to assist with ALL issues so efficiently it's unmatched and trust me I would know!! Look no further if your child is struggling this is the place to be!!!
I have had a wonderful experience with Meridell. We were in a position of unknowing where to send our child to receive help for behavior. But Meridell came in line and helped in so many ways. We had a great therapist… named Morgan that helped guide weekly and throughout that week. Answering all questions that needed to be filled in and filling us with knowledge. Morgan challenged my family and I during therapy sessions that pushed us in a way of growth. She made us feel comfortable and helped direct our child to grasp reality and effects from actions. The communication was always there with the treatment team ready to answer questions. I know the reviews may be misleading (i know for myself I was a tad nervous) but overall from what was given to my family has helped shape us. Meridell allows families to make visits to their children while in treatment. They have a KIChater school that the students have daily that will be transferable when discharge.
