About Cottonwood Springs – Olathe
Cottonwood Springs operates from 13351 South Arapaho Drive in Olathe. The site sits in Johnson County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. Nearby communities include Gardner, Lenexa and Overland Park. Kansas draws people across long distances for treatment, so travel time is worth weighing against waiting time.
Hospital inpatient care, detox, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and outpatient care are delivered here, alongside medication-assisted treatment. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves.

Detox and Rehab Services at Cottonwood Springs
Withdrawal management covers alcohol, benzodiazepine, cocaine, methamphetamine and opioid dependence and is handled on site rather than referred elsewhere. Stepping down into continuing care happens with the same team, so there is no second intake to sit through. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.
Buprenorphine and naltrexone are available and paired with counseling rather than prescribed alone. Ask what happens at the end of the program as well as the beginning, since that is where plans usually thin out. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

Cottonwood Springs Address, Location and Contact Information
The address is 13351 South Arapaho Drive, Olathe, KS 66062, in Johnson County. The catchment reaches Gardner, Lenexa and Overland Park. Confirm what a program covers before traveling in, since the level of care listed is not always the level with capacity.

Worst shit hole ever I was here from 09/14/2026-09/21/2026 trash experience ever the day they put me here there were bed bugs in my bed the shower handle broke an was without shower for the whole day this place is trash… the doctor ( Roma manzoor ) never came to see me I had to look for where the whole 8-9 days I was there just to talk to here run away from this dungeon
An absolutely traumatizing ordeal that I will never ever forgive them for. They made me and my mom wait for an hour this afternoon, an hour after arriving there on time for my assessment as an “intensive outpatient”.… When we were brought into the back of the waiting room, they stuck us in a dirty and empty room that had a bizarre odor. After sitting there for well over an hour and a half, we tried to leave, but was approached by one of the staff that told us that our specialist would come in a moment only to have us wait more minutes without any means to contact the outside world and attempted to keep me against my will and told my mom to leave. Their communication is abhorrent and made me feel trapped. As an individual who is neurodivergent, this was a major abuse of my time and my person. Despite going in there with the best intentions, they took advantage of that and I hope they go out of business. I had already answered all the questions they asked and was treated like a prisoner.
One of the best facilities These guys took amazing care of me. If your military and need help def go here because they will treat you with respect. Facility was 5/5 food 5/5
This is not the place to go. They treat every client in the entire facility as if they are actively suicidal and restrict your privileges accordingly. Prior to the initial assessment, they made me place all of my… valuables in a locker. They later accessed the locker without my permission and moved my valuables without doing an inventory. When I finally got my things back (the NEXT DAY), two pairs of wireless earbuds were missing. I had to threaten to call law enforcement and the media before I finally got all of my things back. The staff were shady and standoffish and did not listen to my concers. They level of care was pathetic. I work in the behavioral healthcare sector myself, so I have some unique understanding of just how poorly this facility is run. If you are considering this facility, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. UPDATE: Ashley, while I really appreciate you feigning interest, it's pretty hard to share my concerns when you never answer your phone and your voicemail is full. It seems fitting given the level of service I have received from other members of your staff. But don't worry, I've called your ethics line and made a report to them. They are the only folks who have listened to a word I've said throughout this whole unfortunate experience.
My friend had a very disappointing experience at this facility. The food that was served often did not match what was listed on the menu, which was frustrating for patients who were expecting specific meals. There were… also multiple scheduled group sessions where patients sat around waiting, only for the instructor to never show up. As a result, patients spent most of the day doing little to NOTHING. Communication with the facility was also extremely poor. We left more than 10 voicemails over the course of their stay, and not a single one was returned. It was quite literally impossible to get anyone to answer the phone. The therapists only spent about maybe 10 minutes assessing my friend before making conclusions about what was wrong. It felt rushed and didn’t seem like enough time to fully understand their situation, history, or individual needs. Mental health assessments should feel thorough and personalized, but instead the process felt superficial and left us with little confidence that they had an accurate understanding of their condition. The daily check-ins are not thorough enough to have a decent understanding of one’s mentality. The discharge process was equally frustrating. The plans were constantly changing, and no one could provide a clear discharge date. My friend’s mental health actually declined during their stay due to the lack of structure and uncertainty. It ultimately reached the point where their mother had to come to the facility herself and insist on his release. I could go on but overall, this was a very negative experience, and I would not recommend this facility based on what we witnessed. The one bright spot was Robert, who was personable, compassionate, and treated everyone with kindness and understanding. Unfortunately, one great staff member could not make up for the many issues with the facility as a whole. Whoever manages this needs to do extremely better or find a different field to work in, these are people’s lives in jeopardy!!! This place did nothing but weep negativity into an already struggling person.
On my way to you happy
Drove an hour to pick up my patient and ended up waiting almost two hours. Deeply frustrating.
Was told to pick up my patient at a certain time and ended up waiting well over an hour to receive them.
They quite literally saved my life. A special thanks to Maria the charge nurse. A true baddy. Also Ariel is an o.g. The entire night crew taught me more than they will ever know. They are mission driven and know their… purpose in life: to save souls like mine. Thank you cottonwood springs. Sorry for that “bad” Behavior. ;)
Can't get hold of anyone to get info.. They don't call you back..
Cottonwood Springs was a life-changing experience for me, an invaluable help on my path toward a life of sobriety and contentments. Their staff treated me with the kindness, respect, and understanding that I needed.… Particularly of note was Leanna and Leroy, who I was lucky enough get to know.
This is the best place for mental health sanity break they ensure you have activities that address mental heath healthiness and they have amazing snacks to ensure dopamine levels stay sane levels for and Asha’s personal… that had their meds lost in transit this has been important the staff is knowledgeable and very helpful I fully recommend them over osh
This place truly helped me during one of the most difficult periods of my life. The nurses, techs, therapists, doctors, and kitchen staff were all incredible. Every person I interacted with genuinely cared about my… well-being and treated me with compassion, respect, and kindness. Through my time here, I gained valuable tools and coping skills that I continue to use on my mental health journey. I even made some really good friends. I am deeply grateful for the support, encouragement, and care I received from the entire team. Thank you for making such a positive difference in my life.
Brandon and the rest of the staff are very helpful. It's a good facility.
There's no individual therapy, and group therapy usually gets hijacked by the loudest person. There NEEDS TO BE more than 2 smoke breaks IMO. In love w Lainey, redhead nurse tech. Dermot Kennedy "Resolution" AMOSC… DaddyMatt785 Flowers incoming.
I went there for an assessment for their Outpatient Intensive Program for mental health. They took all my personal belongings and put them in a locker. I was then put in a room with ripped chairs where I waited for an… hour. I left the room and discovered I was trapped in a hallway. When I knocked on the door that led to the front desk, I asked to leave. I was then told that I couldn't leave until I had my assessment. I waited another thirty minutes and knocked on the door again and was told through the wired glass window that I was "only making it harder on myself." Finally, I found a woman in the hall and I asked if I was being held against my will. She wouldn't answer me. I then asked if they had the legal right to keep me there. She just kept repeating that I needed an assessment. I told them I no longer was interested in a. IOP and they gave me an exit screening and then made me wait for doctor to sign off on it. I never made any indication that I was suicidal so the whole experience was insane. Still upset about it. Just for an IOP. Horror show.
I've been for 6 stays in 4 states and this has been the best place. They have mostly great staff who are very helpful and are life savers in all reality.
My wife made an appointment for an evaluation. We were really hoping that CBT will help with an undiagnosed personality disorder. They were over two hours behind which is understandable for a Dr. office. We were told… that if the wait was too long, that she could legally leave as long as they ask her a few questions to make sure she is safe. Shortly after an hour of waiting we realized that we would need to leave to pick up our son before the evaluation was over. We notified the woman at the front desk that we needed to reschedule. She said she would send someone to ask the necessary questions. After about a half hour the same woman entered and asked if we had changed our minds about leaving. We said no of course. At this point we definitely going to be late to pick up our son. We asked if she could just leave and we were told that the doors would lock and the police would be involved if we leave without answering their questions. We agreed to answer the questions a second time but were told that nobody is available to ask them and that they would be available soon. Another half hour or so before a “Therapist” came into the waiting area and put his clipboard in front of his mouth and proceeded to talk about my wife’s case to the receptionist, as if people in the lobby couldn’t hear his words through the clipboard. He acted frustrated and spoke to my wife with disdain. She did nothing but apologize for needing to reschedule and he said “I’m just not used to working on problems as bland as yours.” My wife left the room with tears. We were told his name is Drew Stein and that he’s a licensed therapist. There is absolutely no way this man knew anything about my wife’s case yet, but he was very quick to decide that our problems were not worth his time. I’ve met plenty of arrogant doctors in my life but there is no room for this in mental health. The hippocratic oath applies to every patient and every situation. Not just when a physician is in the mood. It took a lot for my wife to go there for help but all we got was discouragement from this man. Shame on you Drew Stein. You don’t deserve your title.
During a recent stay here I have to recognize that the staff were all caring, helpful and took the time to listen to your needs. There were many staff that stood out but don't remember the names but huge shoutout to… Jordan R. RN, Noni RN, & Erick at the Sunflower Unit! They made the stay so much easier and were easy to talk to and super supportive. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
My spouse was admitted following a serious workplace injury in early March, where he sustained six broken ribs after being pinned between beams in an accident that was determined to be entirely not his fault. During his… hospital stay, he was drug tested for workman's comp and tested positive for marijuana. We live in a state where marijuana is legal. Since that time, he has been placed into intensive outpatient treatment for substance use, in order to keep his job. Despite having no history of drug abuse, dependency, or related issues. He has now completed three weeks of this program, yet is being required to complete an additional three weeks—services that are not covered by insurance. What has been most concerning is the lack of communication and support regarding his ability to return to work. We have made repeated attempts to contact staff for guidance or clearance, but have received little to no response. However, there has been no issue contacting him regarding payment for services. This situation has created significant stress, both financially and emotionally. I have been solely supporting our household at 7 months pregnant with no end of this nightmare in sight. My spouse is trying return to work to provide for our family as we are desperately hurting financially but instead feels stuck in a system that does not appear to be individualized to his situation. Being placed in treatment alongside individuals with severe substance abuse issues has also taken a toll on his mental well-being. We understand the importance of safety and proper evaluation, but there should be a balanced and reasonable approach based on each individual case. At this point, the process feels excessive, unclear, and certainly financially driven. We would strongly encourage better communication, clearer criteria for treatment requirements, and more consideration of individual circumstances moving forward.
Once you get in back into the actually facilities, it’s probably my favorite detox I’ve been to. Good fooo especially compared to hospital. Staff are all generous. The problem with this place is getting in. I showed up… for a 6 pm appoint and was not taken back into an assessment room until 730 . Once we got in the assessment room, it was another 2 hours before the assessor came in. Mind you I was here for substance use and withdrawal. So I visibially become uncomfortable. I would have had another fifth of liquor had I anticipated this, lol. My point in all of this don’t tell some you have a 6pm make. I didn’t get any detox meds until 10pm. Other than that, no complaints. Solid spot once you get past the assessment rooms.
I have been a patient here several times, and the treatment I receive is great, from check-in time to discharge. The staff knows me and shows no judgment. Michelle and Dana always show empathy and compassion to not only… me but also other patients, making it easy to return for care if needed.
Cottonwood Springs Mental health is the greatest place for my mental health. From Shaley at check in to Dr Mahmood Sunrise is best unit here from the janitor, tec's, nurses (Heather) to the Dr's they are Mother Teresa… saint like. They make you family right from the start. I would see a person come in mad as Hell and in 3 days the transformation happens it's nothing short of a miracle. I would ask the Tec's how do they work in an environment where they are cussed out everyday by the patients they reply it's our calling and that they know it's not the real person. This place is more Christ like than any church in Kansas City the way they love everybody. I could go on and on but I think I've expressed myself well I have adopted this place as my ministry I donate cigarettes, clothes and books So if you have clothes or books join me in the blessings Chad A. Hendrix
I would like to know why you all have patients who have access to phones who are calling harassing their family members? When I call to report it, nothing is done and we continue getting phone calls back to back.
I recently got discharged last Wednesday on April 8th. The 24hrs i was in sunrise and let me just say that had i been left in that unit I'd have gone even crazier than I was. That unit was absolutely the worst unit and… patients referred to it as the scared straight unit. I got moved to sunflower and the tech Scott was the best. Him sharing his challenges in life helped me more than anything. They didn't force extra meds and I was taught coping skills which is what I wanted. Will recommend this place as long as its sunflower unit which hasn't been open long.
This was my first time ever going inpatient to detox and since I didn’t get into the unit and room for most of the day once I finally did I just sat on my cold, empty bed and cried because I wasn’t allowed to even have… my safety blanket or my stuffed animal until the doctor was going to be back the next day. I will say the nurses I had were Great! and Dr. Willie was great and so was my therapist Caleb! when it came to the techs… really most of them could care less of how I was feeling and many of times I would overhear them saying that they just wanted to go home. The doctor didn’t know, nor did I, think it would be so darn hard just to have a couple things from under my bed. Also, my pancreatic diet was never catered to. I enjoyed meeting some nice people and hearing their stories, but early most of the time I just felt watched and uncomfortable.. I know it’s a busy busy place but if that’s your full-time job, I would hope you would have a little bit more compassion. We are there to get help, and not hear jokes in the middle of the night by the techs behind the stand..
