About North Canyon Medical Center – Gooding

North Canyon Medical Center operates from 267 North Canyon Drive in Gooding. The site sits in Gooding County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. Nearby communities include Jerome. Idaho draws people across long distances for treatment, so travel time is worth weighing against waiting time.

Hospital inpatient care, detox and outpatient care are delivered here, alongside medication-assisted treatment and telehealth appointments. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

Withdrawal management covers alcohol, benzodiazepine, cocaine, methamphetamine and opioid dependence and is handled on site rather than referred elsewhere. Stepping down into continuing care happens with the same team, so there is no second intake to sit through. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

Buprenorphine and naltrexone are available and paired with counseling rather than prescribed alone. Ask what happens at the end of the program as well as the beginning, since that is where plans usually thin out. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

We took our 2 year old to the ER and the staff were just amazing! We avoided going to St.Lukes because the wait time is way too long. North Canyon had us in a room within a minute and two nurses were ready to help! At… our follow up appointment in outpatient, the ladies just made our experience even better! They spoiled her with a balloon glove and drew a face, chocolate pudding, laughter, and sent us home with a quilt made locally. We were nervous for her visit, and knew there would be tears from our little girl. They made sure we were all comfortable and ensured our daughter felt joy while going through treatment. Thank you North Canyon!

I’m not from the state but i had to visit during a trip i had in idaho. This was last year, when i was quoted my first medical bill and I asked for things to be looked over because it seemed wrong. They charged me for… services i did not recieve nor consent to. When i brought this up, how i did not consent when they asked me if the can run tests, apparently they did it behind my back anyways when they put an IV through my hand they somehow took my blood. and the girl taking care of me ran the tests anyways. when i called about maybe fixing this issue i was told i had to come IN person to discuss it. i then flew to idaho again a month or two later and came in to discuss it with somebody, just to be told “you didn’t need to come all the way here” and also change nothing about my bill. this place is a joke never come here if it’s not life or death

This place was a great place when I first started there . But the Drs are now starting to act like the ones at Saint Luke's , Nurse comes in does the normal tests enters on computer . When Dr comes in He glances at… screen writes something on the paper , not explaining what or why . Get a call from drug store about two prescriptions being filled . One was for Flomax that didn't work the first time it was prescribed , next was for prostate cancer , a problem I was told was cured 30 years ago . Your place is starting to be like Saint Luke's . Bates is one and Richardson is the other . Jones treats Me like a person not a computer screen .

So I called North canyon to satisfy my bill and I get a hold of the financial department I'm not sure the lady said her name but she was very rude. I asked her a simple question about the card number on file and she… just point blank said there's not one on file but when you go into the website it doesn't even give you the option to put one in there it was just going to take it out of whatever was in there. I'm totally over rude people..

Dr. Kyle Grooms. What to say about him. Oh wait there is nothing nice that I can say. He did surgery on my moms forearm a couple MONTHS ago. She has been woken up in pain every night after she was told this surgery… would get her out of the pain that she was in! He now has not only prescribed a medication that he KNOWS she is allergic to, he may have also put a metal plate in her arm her body is rejecting because it could be nickle! Then he has the nerve to treat her poorly during every single visit to the point she comes home in tears! If this treatment keeps up not only will we be finding her a doctor who cares enough about his patients to actually look at whats going on, I will also be reporting him! I have been nice, but my mom losing sleep at night because she is in so much pain IS OUTRAGEOUS along with his terrible attitude!

My 84 year old mom has been in North Canyon twice this month. She fell and broke her hip and ended back in the ER with low sodium levels. The staff here from the drs to clean up crew are top notch. We love the attitude… and attentiveness everyone has showed. Bless the hiring teams. As a family we appreciate all the concern and working to figure out the underlying causes of her low sodium. Highly Recommended Hospital in Gooding Idaho

My husband was recently admitted for a bowel obstruction. The staff at NCMC were fantastic! Two of his nurses, Lisa and Suzie, were incredible. Dr. Bolton was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain to us… exactly what was going on and the steps that were going to be taken to fix the issue. Everyone was very accommodating and went above and beyond to make sure we were both comfortable. I highly recommend North Canyon Medical Center!

This is the worst medical practice I have ever experienced. While receiving a surprising coridson jab in the knee the door opened without a knock and a technician walked in. I couldn't walk for a week after this and… would never go back.

If it let you give no stars I would. I’ve had 3 surgeries at north canyon. This last one was absolutely traumatizing and I wish I would have gone to St.Luke’s. I had a hysterectomy due to endometriosis. Nicolas Packer… was my surgeon and completely failed his oath as a surgeon. When I woke up from surgery I was in unbearable pain and my horrid nurse (Mary on medical floor) did nothing to help. I was told I couldn’t have anything for pain because he didn’t write anything for post op pain. I was begging the nurse for help because I could not bear it. I was a CNA for 5 years and I am currently a pharmacy technician so I have a medical background and therefore have more of a understanding of how nurses and doctors see patients and how medications work and what they are. They could tell that I did as well because they asked my husband if I had a medical background. She came in with ketorolac and I asked why I couldn’t have anything stronger through my IV because I already knew that wasn’t going to touch the pain in was in. Nurse Mary said he didn’t write for anything else for post op pain. I was then told that the dr was coming out of another surgery and on his was to see me. I was given an oxycodone and again I asked why I couldn’t have something stronger through my IV for immediate relief rather than wait another hour for the pill to kick in. I was ignored. I told them I was nauseous and again I was ignored. When the DR came in he said that I shouldn’t be in this much pain and that I needed to give the pill time to kick in. I repeatedly told him how much pain I was and how unbearable it was. They took out the catheter that they had placed after my surgery, which I was confused about because I just had a hysterectomy and was told no vaginal insertion for eight weeks and here I wake up with a tube in my bladder..makes sense right? This did little to reduce the pain. He asked if I wanted something else to calm me down and I said yes I would try anything and he gave the nurse an oral order for Xanax, which she then started to argue with him and ask for a written order. Which she forgot to give me. After an hour and a half the Xanax and oxycodone finally kicked in and my pain went from a 10 to an 8. My surgery was at 8am I didn’t leave the hospital till around 7:30 that night. This surgery was a horrific and traumatizing experience. And it did not have to be. Dr. Packer and nurse Mary continued to ignore my pleas for help and dismissed how much pain I was truly in.

I've never had an issue with North Canyon Medical Center itself. It's the fraudulent "collection agency" that they use or own or are owned by. They absolutely will illegally sue you. If you come here make sure you can… afford the ENTIRE bill up front. Dont give them a reason to send you to collections (Which they will if you dont pay at the time of the service.) Very, very disappointed, since my doctor is here. I will have to look for another one with a more honest hospital/medical provider.

if giving negative stars was an option, i would’ve went with that rating. the service in this so called hospital is absolutely atrocious. i would only recommend going here, if you’re creeping on deaths door with no… other options. even then, may recommend taking your chances and traveling to St. Luke’s. extremely overpriced, love to order unnecessary tests/services, but never really treat the real issue at hand. you could get better care from literally anywhere else.

★☆☆☆☆
Kristin Davidson2 years ago

Just FYI-even if you set up an automated payment plan on their website they will still send you to collections when they get bored of taking your payments I guess, since we’re currently dealing with this. Don’t go here… unless you can afford to pay upfront!

I've been experiencing problems for 30 yrs, within the last 4 yrs I've developed new problems. Which other medical staff out of state has witnessed and documented. I went to this hospital for a few tests. I had to call… the hospital a month later to find out the results. Then had a nurse named Jennifer be completely rude and act like I didn't have any problems because 2 tests were negative. I've since switched to a different hospital to hopefully figure out what's wrong with me and that's more professional.

Terrible nurses (and one sassy desk clerk who almost throat checked my sister in law that was just trying to talk to me at the entrance door to make sure i was ok without her.) I came in for a possibly miscarriage and… all three nurses i saw were very awful at communication and their attitudes. They never explained anything to me like what they were doing or what was to come or acted like they gave a damn frankly. They drew over 9 vials of blood from me which made me super sick and dizzy and offered me nothing to help or how i was feeling when i was visibly pale and already actively losing blood. At one point one of them came in the room and said to me, "let's go" very demanding without any explanation and when i asked he shook the urine test at me very sassily. When i was being discharged the same man came in and asked if i got the run down from the doctor and when i replied yes he said, "great..", as he threw his clipboard on the table and had me sign papers then left without any explaination. The only good experience was the actual doctor who saw me who was very sweet and kind and explained things in a way that i could understand, i wish i gotten his name.

Dr Grooms was extremely unhelpful. The first time my husband saw Dr. Guy Grooms for extreme knee pain and a torn meniscus and he suggested trying injections then if that didn’t help much he could go into surgery for a… scope. Fast forward to a couple months later and the injection didn’t last long we go in for a pre surgery appointment and he’s very patronizing, body shaming and stating he won’t do anything unless he loses weight. Throughout the appointment we tried explaining concerns and he was too busy texting on his phone. When we explained my husband was having trouble with exercise due to the pain and inflammation he suggested we go to Mexico to get weight loss surgery then huffed at the fact we couldn’t afford that. What a waste of time and pain my husband has to stay in now while we find a physician that actually helps and cares.

★☆☆☆☆
Colten Turner2 years ago

The front desk working staff here are amazing. As far as the doctors….. just don’t get surgery or you may have a bunch of issues and Dr. grooms will do nothing to fix the issue, or help your pain. He’ll just charge you… more for no result, but more x-rays to give you a wrong diagnosis. by the end you’ll just have to find a doctor who will actually FIX the problem that was created by this doctor during surgery.I should’ve been fully healed almost 2 months ago. I’m in just as much pain as I was after surgery and still can’t walk. This Will hopefully be fixed after I get another surgery that im praying will be done right. DO NOT get surgery by dr grooms.

We were traveling and needed urgent care. We chose North Canyon because of the great reviews. We were very happy with the care received. Thank you Christian, Bianca, Sandy, Dr Chris and others who took such good care of… my husband. We were taken back immediately and received care right away. Everyone was great at listening to his medical history and issues he was experiencing. Thank you for helping him be comfortable for our drive home. We appreciate all you do!
