Deaconess Cross Pointe – Evansville Reviews and Ratings
Nobody knows a treatment program like the patients who went through it. Their reviews of Deaconess Cross Pointe in Evansville, and those of their families, are collected here.
Healthcare workers and referrers who know the facility are welcome to add what they have seen.
Best nurses. Best cooking staff. Best “co patients”/roomates. Showed me human kindness. Something I was afraid the world was entirely lacking. Thank you, from the bottom of my entire heart and soul.
These people helped me so much. They were all so kind. But I was in there for 5 days and they had two grey codes? Whatever they were called. Within two of those days. I know it's not the employees fault but there's also… the fact I got there and had to sit in my room crying reading a manual that said "here at deconess cross pointe your never alone" while alone. That bugged me. And the schedule was always changing.. but all the nurses and everyone was so nice.!
They didn't take my sister's suicidal thoughts seriously and now she's dead. When I was here back in 2020 they let me pick my own medicine and I think it's ruined my life. Do. Not. Go. Here. If you're walking the… valleys of death this place will make you want to die more.
Didn't get morning meds till 5 in the evening. Should have had insulin with breakfast. Psychiatrist said I was able to go home and it took me a few hours to get the nurse to look. They violated policy. They didn't pull… me out of the main room. They came out and took blood sugars in front of other patients a day when I finally got my insulin They gave e me a shot in front of everyone. I didn't put anybody on the form to give them permission to talk about me. They did anyway, it was my spouse but he was not listed and the receptionist told him things that 1. No permission 2. Gave him wrong details. When they finally realized I was going home they said oh it was all a big mixup. Most nurses were nice. Lack of communication between staff. Food was disgusting. I would not recommend this place. I was there 15 hrs.
I’ve been here twice and if I needed to go back I would. I see a lot of reviews about terrible staff and awful nps. Truth is there are people who do it cause they care and people who do it to work. My techs 9/10 were… amazing but I also followed rules. I was comforted when I cried by staff that cared. I will say there are people here that are way too old school or just flat out mean. Those are the people I just chose to try to ignore or request someone else. It is an impatient program many people have many different issues. You are going to see things you don’t like and don’t agree with some that even triggered me, that will be everywhere you go. Only thing you can do is be honest and take time in your process.
Excellent staff
Everyone works together like a well oiled machine, the staff was very helpful & friendly! My stay was short & sweet, it was exactly what I needed, the food was delicious. I left there feeling like alive & well. The… group meetings were meaningful. Thank you Deaconess Cross Pointe for your service!!!
Staff we're kind and tried their best to make you feel better and safe!!!! And I was under 18 so I don't know what the adult sector is like.
I just spent 13 days in here not that long ago. I’m using a fake name because I want to. I was on the youth side and i had a very good experience there. There was not one single staff member who I disliked. Everyone… seemed like they actually cared about me and my safety. The techs were so so good to me and helped me get through my hard times with humor. Emily, David, Justin, Andrew, and Katie 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐were all very helpful to my healing process and they treated me like I was a human, and not some crazy person. I’ve been here twice and I’ve never had a bad experience. Thank you all for your help!

Been here several times, but I’ll speak to the most recent. It’s not as helpful staying here as it used to be, not that I thought Bentwood was any better when I tried there. Beware getting your medical records from… Cross Pointe after staying; you might lose trust in the entire mental health industry if your experience was remotely similar to mine. They don’t actively listen to patients or accurately track your interactions with staff, especially when they’ve written you off as experiencing auditory hallucinations (when you’re objectively overhearing others’ conversations not meant for you). There is a distinct lack of curiosity, or willingness to educate. You start looking for nails if you’re equipped with a hammer, so to speak, so be sure to get second opinions and take whatever they say here with a grain of salt: to be clear, you are the proverbial nail as a patient here, and their drug-slinging please-just-watch-TV-and-color treatment is the hammer. I didn’t realize they don’t know to look for social camouflaging behaviors until I got my medical records. (I habitually keep to myself, suffering through my symptoms because I long since learned they won’t be resolved in this for-profit healthcare system.) It instead indicates that they didn’t even see behavior to support previous concurrent diagnoses… I guess that should be reassuring because it means I am effective at camo. Yet, I was very aware they have no time as professionals to listen to a whole story in order to understand a complex case. They barely care you’re there since nearly anyone above room-check duties spends less than ten minutes in your presence. Also I became very aware that they use chemical restraint when they can plausibly deny it - they tried putting me on something my husband had been on, but I recognized its name and firmly declined. Be careful how you answer their questions because sometimes you’re dammed regardless; I am not a danger to anyone that isn’t a danger to me, and barely even then, but I said I would defend myself. That was used against me in a different context than I answered the question by the condescending “doctor.” I had to sit through being verbally painted as way more nuts than I am (akin to slander) during remote court just so they could milk insurance longer and watch me deteriorate from trepidation about my husband. I couldn’t reach him from in there. It wasn’t auditory hallucinations and it wasn’t auditory pareidolia. It’s similar to the “cocktail party effect” but doesn’t require direct interaction with the conversation. I apparently have unusually sensitive hearing, to the point that I can sometimes hear cell conversations in the next car over when all pertinent windows are closed. When I lived with my kids, I could hear them open a sneaked soda from all the way across the house. When I was a kid, I could sometimes hear my brothers’ DnD games upstairs while I was outside in the pool with mom. I’m under no illusion that I am specifically worth discussing by random strangers, but I have been in situations where I AM nevertheless discussed. Loss prevention teams assume the worst because of the careless way I dress, especially the times I was living in my car and entering the store for the food/restroom/water fountain multiple times per day. (That’s the simplest example.) How can they expect us to be open and vulnerable in front of them if we can hear the negative things they say in the nurse station? In retrospect I don’t know if the vents helped carry that sound the other way too, but showering was less of a cope when I had to hear all that. I’ve come to plenty of wrong conclusions in my life, but the events that led to my last inpatient stay were harrowing, traumatic, and in public places with security cameras corroborating: dismissing patient experiences and trying to drug it all away with chemical restraints is NOT appropriate mental health treatment.
0 stars, place felt like a jail, for being suicidal this place sure does make you want to end it all even more. 95% of staff is as rude as can be, was made to feel stupid for getting the bathroom floor wet after a… shower by a male nurse. the Drs come once a day and only see you as a paycheck. the social worker Alison, and nurse Jess, and Kimberley(? i think) and one more night shift nurse i never caught name of, were the ONLY nice people there. no 1n1 set downs only group, not everyone needs that. food isn’t half bad but the kitchen is full of cross contamination and NO hairnets. there’s a blue haired tech that is SO RUDE. for being suicidal it sure does feel like you’re treated as a maniac and like you’re in the wrong for feeling that way, but hey! you can color and play Uno smh. cause that’s exactly what i need if im feeling suicidal. do not send your loved ones here for help. this place needs to be seriously looked at and evaluated.
Deaconess cross point was a horrible experience,I went there for mental help,I was treated like a maniac. They say your business is protected but that was a lie the staff told the others my business and tried to frame me… it seemed like.this place helped but also left some scars.something feels fishy about this place…and seeing all these comments about this place makes me believe it even more.the food is good and some staff is good but for the most part it felt like cross point isn’t the spot you want to go if your trying to get help,I would recommend Brentwood.
I wouldn't recommend this place at all the therapists don't talk to you at all and none of the nurses try to comfort you I know its a mental hospital but all they did was make my life a living hell and if we messed up… once the patted room was open I had to be in the for 5 days and all I learned to do is gamble and play uno.
They Really help me
***Let’s not mention the psych threatened to send me to the state hospital if I did not revoke my signature on signing myself out, which is illegal. Yes I am accusing them of illegal activity in this post as well as… their severe neglect and negligence. This hospital honestly is more like a rehab for drug addicts for 3 days, than it is for mental health. I have a paralyzed colon, they would not give me my over the counter bathroom aids that I brought in a new sealed container. Their issue was with how much of it I needed. Then they accused me of having an eating disorder, when I tried to explain I’ve had several intestinal infections recently and that’s why I had lost weight, they ignored this. I explained that I needed to empty my bowels or I’ll get another intestinal infection. (Surprise, I’m currently on antibiotics AGAIN, due to their negligence.) I even had my mother and support system call and confirm what I was saying was true. I even have medical records that mention my medical condition. Also! They did not have anything gluten free, the whole kitchen was cross contaminated, and they didn’t stock high calorie boost shakes. So I actually lost 2lbs because they could not feed me for 2 days, and my family had to bring me food. Do not send your loved one to this hell hole, find some other hospital, any other hospital. This is a joke of a facility and the staff have no regard for human life.
staff was nice but they never did shi besides make us do kindergarten-like activites which was kinda nice ig? anyways never really worked for me well
My husband was there he is no better than he was when he went , 10 days all they did was made sure he slept, as far as the voices are still there. Never talked to any of the staff about his progress.
This place is actual hell, both me and my sister went here, and we had VASTLY different experiences, while mine was decent when I had went, they almost KILLED HER. She has a severe allergy. Like, she cannot be near it… at ALL. And what do they do? Bring sandwiches, pizza, and whatever else near her when they were INFORMED that she couldn't be near it, not to mention them not checking her medical records for medications that'd clash with what she was taking.. seriously, how can people be so STUPID and INCONSIDERATE as to not actually care about the patients trying to get better there. Seriously, this place should be shut down due to medical malpractice. And now, the next part, I had went with our mom to see her, and I hadn't been put on the list, so they "called and asked her" if it was okay to let me in, spoiler alert, they never told her, while it was fine since me and her are chill, what if it was an abuser and they just let them in?? -100,000,000 out of ten, never send anyone you love here, it will make them worse.
Would give this place negative stars if we could. My fiance was in there for depression and ended up coming out of there with different issues with her 4 day visit. To start off,she has allergic reactions to certain… foods and tried restricting her from eating the foods that we brought for her to have because they didn't even bother to look what the ingredients were. Even other patients weren't getting their food or medicine that they were supposed to be taking and took 3 hours just for Tylenol. The nurses didn't care about eating the allergetic food in front of them either. The doctor didn't even bother to look at her previous medical records to see what newly prescribed medicines would clash with her previous ones and the nurses didn't even care about the issues she was having after taking those new medications that she was prescribed. The only good people there was the receptionist and the music therapist, but other than that. Don't send your loved ones to this place because they will most likely come out worse than they did when they get there.
Took child to be evaluated for mental health concerns. The social worker "Brigette hill" was a smart mouth and needs to learn how to talk to people especially in a highened emotional state. Disgusting behavior.
0 stars u hurt me
Was just discharged from the youth unit yesterday. While they were friendly and understanding towards my gender orientation, I still felt as if my needs were neglected and my care wasn't fulfilled. I made quite a few… requests for a roommate as I got uncomfortable and had panic attacks alone. While I was referred to as my preferred name, I still felt like they purposely misspelled it. Above all, when I got home, I noticed a letter I wrote to a past patient (with no intention of actually sending it) to remember them by, was taken and I assume disposed of. I had collected multiple things to remember the friends I made and they disposed of most of them. In the end, I still feel like I need help, but there's no use in going back because it's not going to help. I "CC" do not recommend this place
