Discovery Mood and Anxiety Program – Chino Hills Reviews
Before contacting Discovery Mood and Anxiety Program, it can help to read how patients and their families describe the program. Their reviews are collected in this section, along with reviews from around the web.
Terrible experience. I’m being billed for days I didn’t attend. The experience itself was terrible too. They had more people in group therapy than they had spots on the couch to sit. Room smells like mold and kitty… litter. They were also understaffed and couldn’t provide the support they advertised. I’ve been trying to reach billing for 3 weeks without response. My insurance company filed a complaint today and my HSA is disputing the charges now that they see they don’t line up with the days I was there. What’s the most frustrating though is the complete lack of follow up. This place doesn’t give a crap about their patients. Admissions always answers the phone but I can’t reach anyone from billing to adjust the fraudulent charges. Stay away from this place. They only care about profits, not their patients.
I’m not the type to leave reviews but the experience I had here was lifechanging in ways I never thought possible. I want as many people to experience this as possible. My therapist, Nicole was amazing and she really… individualized my sessions. I learned so much from her. Same from the other therapist, Hannah. The technicians also were amazing. Aly and Erin really helped me. I can’t say enough good things about Discocery. They gave me my life back. I cake in and left a whole different person
I had to call and report them. For thousands of dollars I received no therapy from a licensed therapist. The staff were abusive and my confidentiality, health and safety as well as legal rights were breached multiple… times. They should be shut down.
Anyone who struggles with anxiety, OCD or depression should attend this residential program. It was truly life-changing for me. Staff challenges the patients to reach milestones they never deemed possible and the… therapists are some of the best I have ever encountered. I was able to share with Hannah Mota, the therapist, things I had never shared with another therapist. She is one of the most knowledgeable therapists I have ever met and knows how to help patients regulate during periods of panic or dysregulation. She pushes patients to reach towards recovery and gives them the push they need to get there. Erin is extremely intuitive, able to identify patients in distress and encourage them to use creative coping skills to stop the cycle of anxiety or depression. She is extremely patient and will sit with her patients for hours talking with them and helping them combat their symptoms. Her knowledge on mental health is extremely impressive. Every staff member goes above and beyond to ensure that patients reach the highest level of recovery possible for them. In specific, I would like to thank Jenna, Hannah Mota, Sadie, Jordyn, Erin, Aly and Bree. Steph, the Millieu manager, is an extremely kind and thoughtful person. She goes above and beyond for her patients and the coping skills and knowledge she encouraged me to develop had a positive impact on my life. Nicole, the director, is extremely organized and professional and ensures that every patient receives quality care. Jenna and Sadie, two of the techs, use creative methods to help patients overcome setbacks and go above and beyond in their work. After attending this program, I am much more able to manage my mental health condition and choose coping skills as well as choosing to face difficult situations head on with courage. For anyone who is struggling with a mental health crisis and feels there is no way out, I highly recommend taking the first step to reach out and attend this life-changing program
Best 7 weeks of my life, as a patient in 2021
While this place has helped me a lot in my journey, the staff is VERY unprofessional. I got targetted by a therapist for reasons I'm unsure of, and there was a lot of fighting between staff. Drama between staff became a… focal point rather than our treatment. Weird. I wouldn't recommend this place. Abby was super lovely though.
This is absolutely one of the worst mental health residential centers !!! And I know because my whole family suffers from some sort or another mental illness. My daughter was there for 5 weeks they diagnosed her with… bipolar !!! Which they got WRONG she has now been diagnosed with Boarder line personality disorder !!! Which is completely different. They based her diagnosis on that her sister is bipolar !!! What a waste of money and 5 weeks spent in a lock up mental faculty that treats there patients like they are inmates in jail. DO NOT GO HERE NO MATTER WHAT !!!
This place impacted my in a way I cannot describe. This is the best MH treatment I have ever received. The amazing staff made me feel emotionally safe to open up. I feel that there was a balance of understanding,… respect for the client's needs and a real desire to help me in treatment and with that sensitivity I was truly able to trust, learn and improve! This place is number one in treating all types of mental health disorders and is EXTREMELY professional and helpful.
Incredible staff including Noor!
They don't answer their phone!
I went at age sixteen, and it helped me tremendously. The staff are fantastic, and if you feel that yourself or a loved one needs this level of care, this is a fantastic option.
I went as a twelve year old and I was the youngest but because of my history I could relate to everyone amazing and the staff is amazing! Definitely suggest this house if you or someone else needs it. It is an amazing… mental health program
i went there recently due to wanting to get away from my family situation and other personal matters. when i got there, my mom and i werent aware of a 72 hour hold id be under to forget about going home, and my mom… didn’t receive the 35 page document explaining how they do things until ten minutes before we got there. they have good food selection, though the website advertises gourmet meals and we had to make breakfast and lunch ourselves. the staff there is friendly, though once my insurance ran out of days to pay, they acted hostile and wanted to get me out of the house as soon as possible (i wasnt allowed to truly say goodbye to anyone). there were also a few clients there that i believe should have been at a more intensive program(the person im referring to was kept stable by being forced to miss all the outings, which i thought was a little odd). additionally, i wasnt told about the phase system until i got my binder, and something about that kind of reward system irks me, though i suppose it’s mandatory for some people to have that kind of structure. i also felt that the staff spent more time baby proofing everything and keeping constant surveillance on us rather than actually forms of therapy (and for the few days i was there the only sort of thing thatd be considered therapeutic would have been reading out worksheets about mental health). overall, besides the withholding information and being rude once my insurance was up, i didnt have a whole lot of complaints, except when my mother was told on friday that i only had five days, that directly contradicted the fact that one of the therapists could try and talk our insurance into a “few more days to really get some work done”. when i said i wanted to go home after my 72 hour hold, i was told “are you just going to give up like this?” and attempts at persuading me. it didnt feel good, and i felt like they were very manipulative of my feelings. i also feel like the fact that i was told many different times that i could call my mom and that the schedule changed twice while i was there that they wanted to keep the girls confused- i was thoroughly dazed the whole time i was there because i wasnt aware when anything was, even after looking at the schedule dozens of times. wouldnt want to go back, wouldn’t recommend it, wouldn’t go to any of their alternative services, and i hope the milieu i was in is doing well.
