Franklin Community Counseling Center – Franklin Reviews
Accreditation and licensing tell part of the story at Franklin Community Counseling Center. Reviews from patients and their loved ones tell another part, and the two are shown on this page so they can be read together.
I am sharing this to warn others because what happened to me at the Western Tidewater CSB Franklin Community Counseling Center was unacceptable for any mental health setting. Back in July, I had a serious issue with my… case manager, Mrs Flood. She forced me to take a photo I did not consent to and refused to continue my intake unless I allowed it. I felt pressured and unsafe. After that, she refused to give me copies of the documents I had just signed and told me to request them online and pay per page. I had to argue for my own patient rights just to get copies of what I signed. She also forced me to sign one of the legal documents using a printed version of my name instead of my real signature. My ID signature and the document signature do not match because she pressured me into signing it incorrectly. All of this made me feel violated and disrespected. Then on December 4, I had another troubling experience. I arrived at 1:03 and checked in at 1:05 because the front desk asked me a question before checking me in. I was immediately told to take a urine test with no explanation. When I asked simple questions to understand what was happening, I was met with attitude and treated like I was doing something wrong. I completed the test exactly as instructed, and after everything was done, my appointment with Dr Rivera was suddenly canceled. If time was the issue, it would have been canceled before the test, not after. It was clear the cancellation happened because I advocated for myself and reached out to my case coordinator for clarity. No patient should ever be punished for asking questions. Both incidents made me feel unsafe, dismissed, and unsupported. This is the exact opposite of what a counseling center should be. I have already reported everything directly to Western Tidewater leadership, but I am sharing this publicly because others deserve to know what I experienced. Mental health care should feel safe. It should feel respectful. It should never feel like you are being punished, pressured, or talked down to. Sadly, that has been my repeated experience at this location. I’m posting this to bring awareness. If anyone else has faced similar treatment, please speak directly with Western Tidewater’s higher leadership. This location is not following Western Tidewater’s guidelines, policies, or standards, and it’s important that issues like this are reported so no one else is mistreated in the same way.
Western Tidewater Community Services Board has been a vital asset to my family. WTCSB provides a plethora of community resources & advocates for your needs. N.P Amy Cosma has been quite thorough, professional, punctual,… and a pleasure to work with over the past year. The Franklin office specifically has you in & out quickly, they always answer the phone, and follow up professionally/thoroughly. 10 of 10 recommend WTCSB services and the Franklin office location!
My girlfriend goes here to get her medication filled. She has been avoiding going so i tagged along to make her feel better. Tammy is very rude. She told my girlfriend that she wasn't actually trying. Then basically said… there is nothing she can do for her anymore. After refusing to try different antidepressant medication, saying she has tried it all. (She hasn't) she is over all very rude and doesn't seem to fully know what she is doing. After bringing up an option she googled it after saying she didnt know anything about it. Then proceeded to say it wasnt effective (to each their own I guess)
