About Groups Recover Together – Augusta
Groups Recover Together operates from 171 Capitol Street in Augusta. The site sits in Kennebec County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. Nearby communities include Damariscotta, Farmingdale and Gardiner. Maine draws people across long distances for treatment, so travel time is worth weighing against waiting time.
Outpatient care is delivered here, alongside medication-assisted treatment and telehealth appointments. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

Treatment Services at Groups Recover Together
Outpatient care runs to a set weekly schedule, with evenings and weekends spent at home. That suits people holding down work or caring responsibilities, though it asks more of someone managing early recovery alone. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.
Buprenorphine is available and paired with counseling rather than prescribed alone. Ask what happens at the end of the program as well as the beginning, since that is where plans usually thin out. Assessment decides the level of care, so ask what that involves and how quickly it can happen.

Groups Recover Together Reviews and Ratings
Families searching for treatment in Augusta often start with reviews. If you were a patient at Groups Recover Together, or supported one, sharing how it went gives them something real to go on.
These guys made a massive contribution to my life today, 3+ years clean, working in recovery myself, thank you 🤍
I was from another area and was based out of this office for a few months, and must say the treatment overall is not appealing at all. If you want to simply get medication for opioid use then this is the place to go as… there is no accountability, therefore no treatment, in regards to long-term recovery. People can show up to one group a month and get their entire scripts for that entire month. Poor sense of support…I am thankful for having found another program that supports me in all aspects of my recovery. Medication does not equal treatment or recovery (I was in a hour group with 11 other people, though group would not start until 10 mins past the hour- so that is 4 mins a person to check in weekly).
Great program, amazing staff, super friendly easy to deal with. I literally have the best counselor ever! I always recommend groups to people. It’s life changing and can be life saving.
Groups recover together has been a wonderful group. All of the staff that I have had interactions with all have been amazing the counselors are very helpful they are very considerate and thoughtful. And the program is… very easy to follow and extremely helpful and extraordinarily supportive. Thanks for being here.
I love "Groups" in augusta maine. My provider dr. Shwink councilor Tracy and office udi person Amber, are so helpful. They treat you like a person instead of a number. And they actually care about you.
I have been coming to groups on and off for the past four and a half years and this is the longest that I've stayed in recovery I have recommended this to a few of my friends and I hope it works as good for them as it… has for me I really like the group that I'm in and the staff is always Pleasant and kind and usually very helpful! Definitely recommending to family and friends especially the ones who need it! Danielle M.Augusta, Maine Groups Recover Together
Thankyou to everyone..I dont open up to often after being in groups for a while now i am finally opening up..Thankyou for saving my life
All the staff at Groups recover together are so kind and compassionate. I can honestly say that everyone at Groups, from doctors to counselors and other staff, are truly invested in helping every single person that… walks through the door recover and heal from addiction. Most importantly, Groups help you learn practical coping skills your actually going to use in everyday life when navigating through days when recovery can be difficult. We recover together, we heal together, and encourage one another. If your thinking about joining a MAT program (medication assisted treatment), as an option for your personal road to recovery, I highly suggest Groups Recover Together!
I have been a patient at groups for 3 years. With 1 relapse in which I didn't attend groups for about 4 months. I really like my counselor Katie Fletcher, whom I hope stays . I enjoy groups and the people in my group… and don't like change. So groups is stuck with me. Also Katie and Jody are great. Also Dr. Russ, ur okay!!! Lol Thank you, Ashley Lapointe
Love love love all the staff of the Augusta,ME "Groups" 💜 Especially Tracy my counselor.. anyone wanting to get into recovery I strongly would suggest groups
I can honestly say that I was a little unsure and skeptical right before and at the beginning when I started group. I was uneasy about talking to strangers about my addiction But now I actually look forward to going and… it it has helped so so much with my recovery and now I can see how and understand why the program really does work!! I def recommend it to everyone that is on the road to recovery or want to be!! Thanks for everything! Now the ppl.in my group are no longer strangers and It really helps hearing other ppls stories and experiences
Very friendly and helpful organization, while also remaining professional and helping to destigmatize S.U.D & O.U.D. absolutely no patronizing has taken place during the several months that I've received services from… this business. They don't make you feel bad if you miss an appointment because it's "their paycheck"which can be very detrimental to an individual's recovery like some medically assisted treatment programs do. But they do still hold you accountable for your actions which is crucial to anyone's recovery
That Tracy my counselor is absolutely amazing Tiffany in the office is amazing my provider is amazing everyone at groups is and they all saved my life they are my second family and I have no idea what I'd do without… groups I owe everything to groups 2 years clean 2 years in groups and I am blessed by god for finding this program and so glad there is so many group programs around the state!!! Thank you groups love you all so much you are all doing an amazing thing for recovering addicts and their families you are saving lives including mine thank you from the Lavigne family Kayla in group Shawn my husband Abel our 5 year old son and Elizabeth baby girl due in august xoxoxo god bless
I love this place... I am currently part of the Augusta groups and as long as you comply with the rules like the urine screening it works, even when someone slips up and uses they are very kind and compassionate and… just want to know what they can do to help, actually they are all very kind and understanding in general, the doctors and the staff that I have dealt with... Would recommend this place if you are serious about your recovery and looking for MAT 😁
Once they develop a program for those that are stable in their recovery to attend less than once a week, I'll change it to 5 stars. I know its in the works and being piloted at other Groups Sites, but it needs to be… open to those like me ASAP. Over 11 years of recovery under my belt, I used to attend a private practice for subs once a month and got a 28 day script, but they closed and its very hard to find a provider these days. It was soo much easier and cheaper at the pharmacy to do monthly scripts versus weekly, especially cause i could use the manufacturers coupon. A month supply was cheaper than I pay per week right now with private insurance, not Maine Care. I have a stable home, relationship, family, employment and life couldnt be better, except making time around everything to get to the pharmacy once per week. I do love the weekly Group meetings though, especially with them being Remote. I hope they always have a remote option from now on, even after Covid is over. Its so much more convenient from someone like me that has a busy schedule. The people in my group are pretty much family. We are there for each other. Also, while I miss Tony and Veronica, our new counselor, Abby, is also amazing!!! One negative is they need to stop changing counselors so often. Our group has been through many. Those of us in recovery need more stability than that. I highly recommend Groups to anyone looking to get clean or stay clean from opiates. They were the answer to a prayer for me.
I love my group and my counselor Katie Fletcher all give a friend or family member good advice about groups always a 10 in my eyes 👀

Xoxoxo Kayla Davis
