Rehabs That Take Mountain Health Co-Op

Mountain Health Co-Op is a nonprofit, member-run health insurer serving Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. Its plans can include coverage for drug and alcohol treatment, with benefits varying by plan, network and level of care.Listed centers name Mountain Health Co-Op on their own websites, including facilities in California and New York, outside the plan’s usual service area. Out-of-network rules can change what you pay for care in other states. Before admission, ask the facility and the co-op whether the center is in network, what your plan covers for the care you need, whether prior authorization applies, and what costs to expect.

Why Trust RehabSeekers.com?

RehabSeekers is an independent behavioral health directory covering drug and alcohol addiction and mental health treatment providers.

Every listing has a source: an official register, a licensing record, or details the facility sent us.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Common questions

Answered from what is listed here.

Does Mountain Health CO-OP cover rehab?

Yes, chemical dependency treatment is a covered benefit on Mountain Health CO-OP individual, First Nations and employer plans in Montana and Idaho, including inpatient and residential care, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and outpatient counseling. What you pay depends on the plan's deductible, copays and whether the center is in network.

Residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient admissions need preauthorization plus a referral from an in-network behavioral health provider who assessed the member in the previous 14 days.

Private Insurance Acceptedhttps://rehabseekers.com/insurance-accepted/private-insurance-accepted/
Does Mountain Health CO-OP cover drug and alcohol detox?

Yes, inpatient medical detox for chemical dependency is a listed level of care on the plan's behavioral health authorization form, and acute residential treatment including detoxification appears in the reimbursement policy. Preauthorization before admission is required, and the facility must be state licensed and accredited.

Utilization management runs through Personify Health (HealthComp) at 833-412-4144. Urgent requests are decided within 72 hours and standard requests within 14 calendar days.

Medical Detoxhttps://rehabseekers.com/programs/detox-centers/medical-detox/
Does Mountain Health CO-OP cover residential rehab?

Yes, with preauthorization obtained before admission. The center must hold state licensure and accreditation from the Joint Commission, CARF, ASAM or another approved body, with a board-certified medical director, a psychiatric attending available around the clock and an on-site nurse. Authorizations run up to 60 days at a time.

Wilderness programs, boot camps, therapeutic boarding schools, custodial admissions and facilities described as luxury are excluded. Reauthorization requests are due seven days before the current authorization expires.

Mountain Health CO-OP is a nonprofit, member-governed health insurance cooperative based in Helena, Montana, one of the few Consumer Operated and Oriented Plans created under the Affordable Care Act that is still writing business. For anyone looking at addiction treatment, that means an individual, First Nations or employer plan whose chemical dependency benefit sits inside the medical policy rather than with a separate behavioral health carve-out.

The legal entity is Montana Health Cooperative. It was incorporated in December 2010 as Montana Health CO-OP and took the Mountain Health name in 2020, and it has no parent company; the board is drawn mainly from members who hold its plans. For 2026, coverage is sold in Montana and Idaho under the Peak, Plus, Rocky Mountain, Link and Access network names, with Medicare Supplement policies alongside. Wyoming coverage ended on 31 December 2025.

This guide covers which levels of care the policies pay for, which admissions need preauthorization and a referral, what a 2026 plan charges, how medication for opioid and alcohol use disorder is handled, and how to work out whether a treatment program sits inside the network attached to your plan.
