Averys House Reviews and Ratings
Have you or a loved one been treated at Averys House? A few lines about admissions, the staff and what happened after treatment ended can help another family in Apache Junction weigh the same choice.
Staff at Avery’s House were amazing. My daughter benefited enormously from everyone’s efforts and energy. I have a background in psych/recovery as well as a lot of personal/family experience. The therapists were… literally the very best I have ever been involved with. They were compassionate, professional, and always met my daughter where she was at in her mental health recovery journey. I absolutely recommend Avery’s House. Everyone helped us during the scariest season of our lives.
Shelly is awesome the compassion and joy she shows tells me she really loves what she does you rock shelly
Avery’s house was what my son needed, the staff takes you seriously from the first phone call, they make sure you have all your questions answered before bringing your child to them. While my son stayed there, I had… updates on him, he was able to call home every night and we were able to meet with him once a week which I feel it helped him a lot to have his anxiety level down since he was able to be in touch with us. The staff was so nice, they took care of him well. The nurses were always on top of his needs, the therapist handled family sessions so good, she tried to help everyone in our family. The Case Manager was very helpful throughout the whole time that he was there, also made sure we had a plan for his return home and helped us finding services for him before he left the facility. She even checked on us once he was back home. I give them 10/10 in all areas.
Avery's House (Apache Junction, Arizona) was a safe haven for my son at the most difficult point in his life. From the moment I spoke with Gary in admissions, I felt at ease with my choice to place him in residential… treatment. Gary was there to guide me through the enrollment process both efficiently and with great empathy. When we arrived, I was impressed with the welcoming staff and the clean and organized environment. I knew that my son would be safe and well cared for at Avery's House. The meals are prepared on-site and snacks are always available to the clients. From information gathered from my son, the meals are healthy and appropriate for teens. Weekly virtual parent support sessions are required, and are extremely helpful. They include strategies for parents as well as an overview of different methodologies used with the clients in counseling sessions. In addition, parents and clients engage in weekly family therapy sessions facilitated by the client's regular therapist. These sessions have been valuable in reaching shared agreements and discussing issues that occurred before my son entered treatment. My son was able to call home each night for 10 minutes to check in. I found this to be a great way to stay in touch with him, gauge his improvement, and get details about his day. In addition, we had a weekly video visit each Sunday for 90 minutes. We live too far away for in-person visits which also occur on Sundays. The on-site nurses were quick to inform me of any issues or medication changes. His therapist and case manager were only an email or phone call away. They were always quick to respond to any questions or concerns I had. I especially enjoyed the relationship and connection we developed with his therapist, Michele. She has the perfect mix of empathy and humor to make her extremely relatable to young people. I would highly recommend Avery's House to any family who is seeking help for their child. If I could give them six stars, I would!
Avery’s House in Apache Junction was a beautiful facility. The staff was wonderful with my daughter. Everyone was easy to correspond with when I had questions and the discharge plan was fully discussed well in advance.… My daughter is a complicated case so her treatment is still a work in progress but we are grateful for their guidance.
i went to avery’s house when i was 16, a few months after getting out of a really abusive christian boarding school for a year. i had had a very fatal suicide attempt and was sent to avery’s house. avery’s house was the… first place where i ever truly found help and from the moment i started applying myself there my life completely changed. i loved all of the staff, i loved the environment. it was nothing like any place i had ever been to, it actually felt like a home. it’s been 3 years since i got out of there but i remember the moment there where i really decided to change my life everyday. i truly recommend this place so much as someone who has been to over 15 different mental health facilities / RTCS / rehab centers.
Avery’s House is one of the most supportive and well‑run teen programs in Phoenix. The staff is caring, professional, and truly invested in each teen’s growth. The environment feels safe, structured, and welcoming.… Highly recommend for families who need real help and real guidance.
Avery’s House in Phoenix is an incredible resource for teens and families who need real support. The staff is compassionate, patient, and truly committed to helping each teen feel safe, understood, and empowered. Their… communication with families is clear and consistent, and you can tell they put intention into every part of their program. The home is clean, calm, and thoughtfully structured to help teens reset and rebuild confidence. I’m grateful for the work they do and would highly recommend Avery’s House to any family looking for genuine care and long‑term healing.
Avery’s House Arizona is truly a lifeline for families. The team here is incredibly supportive and makes the entire process feel less overwhelming. They communicate clearly, treat every teen with respect, and create an… environment that feels safe, calm, and genuinely caring. You can tell they put a lot of intention into their programs—everything from therapy to daily routines is structured to help teens rebuild confidence and learn real coping skills. What stood out most is how involved they keep the family. They don’t just focus on the teen; they help everyone understand how to move forward together. Their staff is patient, professional, and deeply committed to long‑term healing, not quick fixes. The home itself is clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, which makes a huge difference for teens who need stability. It’s rare to find a place that blends clinical expertise with this level of compassion.
Avery’s House is one of the few places in Arizona where you can immediately feel the difference the moment you connect with them. Their team is compassionate, knowledgeable, and genuinely committed to helping teens heal… in a safe, supportive, and home‑like environment. They don’t treat families like numbers, they take the time to listen, understand, and guide you through every step of the process. Their programs are thoughtfully designed, combining evidence‑based therapy, family involvement, academic support, and real‑world coping tools that actually make a difference. I love that they focus on the whole family, not just the teen, and that they create a space where young people feel seen, accepted, and understood. The fact that they offer both residential and outpatient options across multiple Arizona locations makes care accessible without uprooting your life. Their staff is exceptional warm, professional, and deeply experienced in adolescent mental health. You can tell they truly care about long‑term healing, not quick fixes. The facilities are clean, comfortable, and intentionally designed to feel like a home rather than a hospital, which makes a huge impact on the recovery experience.
The facility itself is great and my daughter loved the staff, every single person. The facility is very clean, set up nicely, organized very well. The staff I did meet in person or interact with over the phone, overall,… were great. There were a few times were there was some miscommunication, on fairly important info but it was eventually sorted out. My daughter was reluctant to go but I'm the end was grateful for the experience and met some great people and learned a lot about herself of just things to help her in life.
My daughter has had to stay at Avery’s house twice and the experience has been nothing but amazing. The staff all around is incredibly communicative and kind. She has loved her experience both times and has taken a lot… out of the experiences.
Some of the staff actually cared. Idk how the facility is now but when I was there, the BHTs were very caring and supportive and helped me get through really hard situations. The higher ups at the time besides maybe one… didn’t care as much, but definitely did care about getting paid. Anyways, really look through the staff before sending your child there. I hope this helps lol
The facility itself is very nice. The staff members lack communication skills in offering parents updates or what's going on with the child,To the point my teen had injured herself and I was unaware until she was… released and saw the scars and then had to call to ask what had happened. The therapists were all great. The PHP program was helpful to continue care after the residential stay, the skills learned while at Avery's were very helpful. It is costly(depending on insurance)but they did work with us on it. Pros...good facility, decent behavior plans, great counseling . Cons..lack of staff communication about child during residential stay.
This facility is a place where teens are truly cared for. The staff go above and beyond to create a safe, structured, and supportive environment. You can tell that everyone here is dedicated to making a real difference… in the lives of the kids and their families. It’s not just about treatment—it’s about compassion, consistency, and helping teens build the skills they need to move forward. The team is professional, caring, and genuinely invested in the well-being of the kids they serve. I would highly recommend this program to any family looking for quality care for their teen.
Our family had an incredibly positive experience with Avery’s House - Apache Junction location. When our son was in residential treatment we felt supported every step of the way. The staff truly cared about him as an… individual, and their dedication made a huge difference in his growth and healing. Not only did our son benefit, but we as parents also received guidance and encouragement throughout the process. We are so grateful for the compassionate and professional care provided—this experience has been life-changing for our entire family.
I have just got out of Avery’s house, it has helped me so much. Even though I was resistant at first the staff at peers help me so much to open up. I will forever be grateful.
I just discharged out of Avery's house Apache junction after 6 weeks and let me tell you it was most definitely an experience, most of the staff and peers we had were amazing but there were numerous peers bullying each… other including me and it had to be one of the most draining experiences ever, there was also a co-ed relationship going on and it caused so much drama and nothing happened about it. also on my second week a staff member came into my room in the middle of the night and took all of my used underwear, I was extremely frustrated with this especially due to the fact that I only had a few pears left, the morning after when I realized they were missing I went to the program manager questioning her on where my underwear went and they refused to give me a reason why they were taken, I filed a grievance on it and it said "we will respond within 48hrs" I gave it to my therapist and then she starts claiming that I never gave it to her or the program manager. also they did journal checks to see if anybody was journaling about harm and I was journaling about how I disliked the program, staff, and peers, they took it and read through it and then I was called in and given a "Behavioral Contract" for writing about the program manager in my journal, I will say that its definitely a "Make Or Break" experience but this was personally a horrible experience, nobody sees what happens behind closed doors and the group I was in there was always somebody being bullied mainly by these older 15-17 Yo girls, but I would like to say that most of the staff was amazing especially Monday- Wednesday CA'S, Week nurse, Thursday-Saturday Night staff, and my therapist.
This program is a game-changer! Our entire family is thriving now, and it’s all thanks to the life-changing tools and insights we gained. Without their support, we would’ve been lost. The staff is nothing less than… amazing—if you're thinking about it, go for it!
What an unforgettable summer! Kendhal was absolutely awesome!
Incredible program, with a stunning facility!
Amazing Staff,Friendly with parents and the most important the kids received the best treatment very grateful with Avery House.
We were very dissatisfied with our daughter's treatment at Avery's. Not only was the staff not communicating with us, they did not assist in any way to get her continued treatment elsewhere, that was recommended by your… staff. We had mulitple communication attempts with her therapist, and the clinical director for which we received limited responses, very little assistance, and no compassion. Staff also allowed a personal relationship to occur between our daughter and another patient. This was extremely inappropriate and also against the rules. This impeded her treatment. Two years later, this relationship still continues to scar her. This facility was not accepted by her insurance and it was financially crippling for us ($35,400 out of pocket!!). Avery's is only concerned with getting our money (without insurance) and not about the quality of care for our daughter. If Avery's was contracted with our insurance there would be rules against price gouging. But instead Avery's price gouged us directly and took advantage of our desparation to get our daughter help.
i went here exactly a year ago. i was struggling with my mental health, so i flew from mi to go here. it was absolutely amazing. there’s opportunities to get out of the house and go to the arcade, get ice cream etc. you… can talk to therapists when ever needed and they are all amazing. in my experience though, there was some staff workers that had been treating the kids with disrespect. one would food shame etc. other than that if your child is struggling, i recommend this place.
DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE YOU MAY NEVER SEE THEM AGAIN. MY DAIGHTER WAS ALLOWED TO LEAVE AND IS CURRENTLY MISSING. DO NOT SEND YOUR KID HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT THEM OR WANT TO SEE AGAIN
Great program! Genuinely helpful and caring from the first phone call to the last and everything in between!
Will drive a wedge between you and your child if you refuse to adopt the "meet them where they are" approach used by their therapists. Will side with your adolescent child regardless of what your values are and what… you're trying to instill in them, and use you as a blame target as to why therapy did not work.
Parents should take into consideration some of the things we learned from our daughter's experience at Avery's in Apache Junction. - Our 16 year old went to Avery's willingly but not 100% sold on this being the best… path for her. 6 days into her stay she had enough, left, found a stranger to use their phone, and called a friend for a ride back home. Avery's is a "hands off" facility which means they don't chase someone down if they walk or run away. Avery's called the police to report that she had left but when the police found out our daughter made it home that was the end of their involvement. Avery's case manager called to refer to us a more controlled facility if we wanted to go that route. However the only others that kept in touch with us after that were the accounting team. - For 6 days of care Avery's billed over $30,000. - We did not have enough time to determine whether the treatments and care that Avery's provides is worth about $6000/day. During our daughter's stay we did frequently communicate with her and those helping her. She seemed to be in good hands. From other reviews here it seems there is good to be gained from Avery's. Be aware that your child needs to be committed to the extended stay or they can just leave.
