BayCare Behavioral Health – Tampa (2727 West Dr MLK Jr Boulevard) Detox and Rehab Services
BayCare Behavioral Health – Tampa (2727 West Dr MLK Jr Boulevard) carries a listing for intensive outpatient and outpatient care. Structured outpatient runs to a schedule while people return home in the evening. Which of these is appropriate depends on an assessment, not on what sounds manageable at the time.
The listing records a single focus rather than combined treatment, so anyone needing both should confirm what is available. Approved medication is paired with counseling and regular review. Ask what a typical week involves before committing, since the schedule determines whether the program is workable alongside work or family.

BayCare Behavioral Health – Tampa (2727 West Dr MLK Jr Boulevard) Address, Location and Contact Information
BayCare Behavioral Health – Tampa (2727 West Dr MLK Jr Boulevard) is located at 2727 West Dr MLK Jr Boulevard in Tampa, Florida, 33607. This address falls in Hillsborough County. The site also serves the surrounding area, and anyone traveling in should confirm the route before setting out. How someone gets there matters more than it sounds: travel is one of the commonest reasons a course of treatment stops partway.
It is worth calling first to confirm access, parking and the shape of a first visit. If getting there is hard, ask about a remote first appointment. Admissions lines are frequently busiest early in the week, which is worth knowing if the first attempt fails.

I took my son here and we were not satisfied with the care. We decided not to reschedule. We received a letter a few months later that says “page 1 of 2” but only one page included. This letter was a warning that we… missed an appointment and would be charged. I explicitly told the doctor and front desk that we do not wish to reschedule at this time. Additionally, on our first day we were not charged anything. I asked the front desk how much subsequent visits will cost, as that would sway our decision on how often we come, and were told there are no costs for future visits for this year, but a new analysis would be needed for the following year. When we returned a few weeks later, we were billed for that visit.
I had a great 2 years with Chedelie Jones, NP, then she like many others LEFT the practice! I was then transferred to Maribel Luna to continue where the last one had stopped. She was VERY cold! She was accusatory and… within a few minutes I was completely shut down to regulate myself. She has decided on her own, that she should reduce my anxiety meds when in fact my anxiety has increased and have way more going on in my life than she could care for! She refused to prescribe a medication I’ve been on in the same office!!! — simply because I have a Florida medical marijuana card. This was a HUGE shock! She tried to label me a criminal and an addict. I had a very similar experience with the therapist in the same office. I walked out of therapy once they started the judgement and not listening or hearing what I've been through. She made me feel so uncomfortable and she knew she was going to reduce my medicine so they took my blood pressure AFTER which was VERY manipulative considering I'm trying to be helped not have a heart attack!
worse place ive been too nurses dont care and stay up laughing all night could rarely sleep the technicians were fine its just all the nurses and psychiatrist that are horrible this was the worst experience going here… wouldn’t recommend to nobody
Evelyn with Dr. Jackson's office is fantastic! We needed some help and she went above and beyond to make it happen! Thanks, Evelyn!
Lost my referral and jerked me around. Scheduled me on a day my doctor wasn't there. No showed me after 8 minutes. Consecutive visits. Garbage establishment
We have been pleased with this office for our son. The doctor understood my son and our situation. Appreciate the timely appointments and not long wait times. Appreciate the backend office, especially Ms. Hall, for… helping us get and send various paperwork. She was very helpful and prompt.
If I could give a ZERO. I would the office staff is the worst after 60 years I’ve ever encountered!! I would advise to go to different doctor as this office has no concern for your health or even to be professional !!… When I entered there were a few patients in front of me, no problem. But large Latino woman yelled what’s my name across the room which being in doctors office especially this type office that I should reply with my name aloud across the room!!! I did reluctantly a because I was mistaken that the appointment was at 8:40am instead of 8:45am I was late and could not be seen!! There is no way on Gods green earth that a few minutes made is so the doctor could not see me!! Big Latino woman decided to punish the patient (me) for a few minutes late for honest mistake!! This is the compassion and understanding you get from this BayCare Medical Office!! BEWARE
My experience with Maribel Luna was disappointing and confusing. She was cold and dismissive from the start, refusing to prescribe a medication I’ve been on in the past for my documented ADHD — simply because I have a… Florida medical marijuana card. I’ve never heard of a doctor denying care for that reason, especially when everything is legal and medically documented. What made it even stranger is that she was quick to take my word on other diagnoses and seemed eager to prescribe medications for those instead. The whole appointment felt inconsistent and uncomfortable, as if her priorities weren’t really focused on helping me as an individual patient. Overall, it was an odd and disappointing experience, and I left feeling unheard and unfairly judged rather than cared for.
They do not care about your behavior, or your health. My psychiatrist abruptly denied my prescription for my anti-psychotics and anti-depressants I have been on for 5 years with no warning or chance to look for another… provider. I am going through withdrawals. I am bipolar and schizophrenic.
I had a great experience with Dr Weaver at this facility. Communication is always on point and I definitely feels extremely comfortable with interesting my care to this facility and doctor. Evelyn was also very… welcoming. She's very thorough. Much appreciated.
I have had such a wonderful experience with Baycare! But I have to give a great amount of gratitude to Evelyn whom works for Dr. Jackson. She is always going above and beyond to take care of our needs. She's always… there to answer the phone and help me with any questions or whatever I may need and if I ever leave message she immediately calls me back or takes care of the matter! She is such an asset to the Baycare team! Thank you for everything!!!
After having a discussion with my PCP (he has been my PCP for over 20 years ), we decided I needed to meet with a psychiatrist to manage my anxiety medications. I was currently on Prozac and I would get 60 Xanax a YEAR… and I would use these when I had really bad anxiety days, my anxiety has been very high as of late and no matter the tools Ive learned its been a struggle and is affecting me. In 2021 I almost died from COVID, I have 2 children that are in law enforcement here in Tampa and with our current times I just feel a little overly anxious and the sensations of the anxiety and the lump in my throat are bad! I met with Dr Lopez on Friday May16th for the first time, we had a good conversation and decided on a treatment plan of removing my current meds of Prozac and Xanax(ONLY RECEIVE 60 TABLETS A YEAR) and placing me on Klonopin taking 1/2 a pill in the am and 1/2 in the pm, I was advised by Dr Lopez to surrender my Prozac and Xanax I had remaining to the pharmacy, the pharmacy would not release the new meds until I surrendered the Xanax which was fine. I'm rocking along feeling a little groggy maybe moving at a little slower pace but feeling so much less anxious, I thought I will see how we feel once the month is up as far as being groggy and slow and then I ran out of medication, what, why what do I do now? Well I call the number provided on the pretty brochure they hand you on your first appointment only to continually leave message after message with no return calls. I call the pharmacy and by at this time now Im 4 days with no medication and my brain hurts and i'm sooooooooo sad, the crying and the inability to have quality of life is now in the hands of someplace that refuses to help me and my mental health and fill a NARCOTIC that they put me on!!!! Finally a lady was very nice to me and she kept sending me to Daisy's voicemail, apparently Daisy is support for Dr Lopez, I left messages everyday even twice a day. My Publix pharmacy was even trying to help me with no results.I get a call 6 days after having no medication from Daisy and she said I need to know why your out of medication because we give you enough to last each day until your next appointment. I told Daisy I was given 15 pills to take 1/2 each day I picked up the prescription on May 16th and ran out on May 31 taking them as prescribed and then 2 days later I finally get 15 to make it to my appointment which will be on June 20th. The day of my appointment comes and I have no more pills, once again Im feeling a little sluggish and tired but I had to start again on the pills so I don't really know how and if they are good for me yet. I go in and there are 2 ladies with VERY POOR PEOPLE SKILLS sitting behind the window and I'm told they called me to cancel my appointment and I stated no you did not and shoed my phone but that doesn't even matter at this point I wonder how will I get a refill on my medication and she and her little friend beside her look at me and she said my medication is not her problem I need to schedule an appointment and I said can you please be nice I feel like you are not listening to me and understanding that I need to know what to do and again she was ignorant ad treated me as if I was a drug addict looking to score and also she had control of my brain as did this whole place. I knew I had to calm down but was hurting so bad that I don't know what to do I cant control my crying so I call my doctors office and vent she cant help but she listened and for that I will never forget her!!!
Absolutely the worst customer service experience ever. I called over a week ago to have meds changed do to reaction to them. Called today only to be told “we called you, it’s documented” I explained I never received a… call. Then I asked what phone number would be calling so I can be on a look out for it. “I’m not going to go back and forth with you, make an appointment or don’t” Wowwww. The worst behavioral management ever
Thank you to Francis and Evelyn. My grandson needed to transition from the Countryside office to the Tampa office which I was dreading. Francis and Evelyn took extra care to make it easy. Very kind, understanding and… know how important their jobs are so he does not miss any medication. Thanks very much. Both ladies need a raise.
I have tried to clear up an insurance and billing problem with office with no satisfaction. My insurance company was Aetna. After about 6 years I was charged out of network. Baycare insisted that Chedelie Jones is in… network and Aetna insist that she is not. The BayCare office never informed me that there was a problem. No one in the office can answer my questions. I was also on the phone with billing for 2 hours and they cannot solve the problem either. I am very disappointed in the professional ism of BayCare Behavioral Health.
I do not suggest going here. They're not interested in refilling medications they're only interested in putting people on antidepressants even when they're not depressed. Wasting taxpayers money and also putting people… at risk allowing them to go off their necessary meds previously prescribed and well documented and justifiable. Don't waste your time
As we approach the end of the year 2024, we give a very special Thank You to The BayCare Life Management Centers in Tampa. Ted Goff, along with his BayCare Mental Health Team were instrumental with connecting us with… the Professionals needed regarding the care and understanding of the needs of our family’s situation. We are looking forward to seeing what the 2025 year brings to further progress with our family members next step regarding her success back to a healthy happy independent life. We are grateful and thankful.
Horrible service. I shouldn’t even waste my time writing this as their 3.1 stars should explain it all. Stay away. I’m telling do your research first a lot of it.and beware the front office staff likes to talk about… patients after they leave even when people are still in the waiting room. It was disgusting. All Doc Jackson cares about is his image. He try’s to push his lifestyle on others well I’m sorry but people are different and don’t want your type of living.
The staff and practitioners have no bedside manor. You would expect that given the clientele the front office staff would have a modicum of sensitivity but you'd be wrong. The first time I went, I was surprised at how… they ignored the patients at their windows, but figured it might be an off day NOPE - at my visit today I witnessed the same behavior directed towards others and experienced it myself. I notified them that the bathroom was in disrepair and in the 10 min before the visit no one serviced it. When I came out of my visit I was ignored by 4 people and eventually I just left. When my clinician called me back, I spotted a restroom in the way and asked to use it because the one up front needed service. When I came out she seemed put off by the fact I didn't just ignore my needs. In the visit, I told the clinician about another clinician in the practice not returning phone calls and she seemed to dismiss it. No empathy, and when I asked for guidance I got general advice I could Google. Don't waste your money or time on any of the practitioners and certainly don't waste your time trying to engage the office staff.
Trying to find mental health for a child is hard enough. I drive over an hour for a 5 min appt to be rushed in and out of the office. When I call for med refill, I either get no reply and have to call again or told he… has to be seen first. I can't send him to school without meds, home is chaotic without his meds, and I end up crying all day from stress. Do I have to baker act a child to get the meds and knock his confidence down because this office is over worked and don't care? He can't even go to school which sets him back even farther. There is the no care for people's mental and behavioral well being especially for children.
This is the worst place ever.they really don’t care.i take my 7 year old here.they put him on medication.give me hard time with refills .dri Edwin Jackson is the doctor he pretty okey but the lady who is his personal… assistant had a lot of attitude.never answers phone or voicemail.i have to call several times to report her .then when she finally does .Attitude is over the chats .im guessing she don’t want anyone talking to me Jackson. This gets her jealous and upset.im Marie’s and both my husband and I take turns bringing the child .she gives attitude to both of us .she is extension 5 when you call.never again!!!I got to find new psychiatrist office!!!!this one is a no.management don’t care either
This is quite literally the worst medical office I've ever visited. They made me wait an entire hour and a half past my appointment time and then blamed it on the hospital for over scheduling their office. They have… absolutely no regard or respect for other people's time, and it's so rude. My appointment itself was an entire 6 minutes, and this is ridiculous.
I received a call on Friday to come in for an appt on Monday. I’d let my boss know that I will be leaving work early. I was lucky enough that It was no problem for my job . But I would get paid for it . I get to the… appt and found out that the appt was canceled bc the A/C broke and no one had reached out to me to inform of me this . That was Monday. Today is Wednesday and have not even heard back from the office. I will not recommend this place ever to no one . How unprofessional to not call your patient and advise that we have to move the appt . Even if it was the same day but not let me drive all the way there just to find out my daughter first appt was cancelled !
Trust the negative reviews! If you really care about improving your mental health, do not come here. As many others have said, it is impossible to get in touch with anyone, even after leaving voicemails. When leaving a… voicemail, it says they will return your call in 24 hours, but they won't. Came to them for medication management. I waited more than one month for an initial appointment. One week later, I’ve yet to receive any follow up about my treatment plan or prescribing the medication I need, and no return to my voicemails. It has been extremely hard and long for me to get scheduled with a new psychiatrist. I wish I’d used these past two months waiting for an appointment with a better office.
I saw One of the Nurse Practitioner's who didn't see the Need to Address a Sleeping issue that's been a Psychiatric issue for past 6 years! Yet She wants a Sleep study, So here's what I will do Instead, I am going to… Discontinue Services, Go back to the office that I was at Before Orrrrr Find Someone else that takes my Insurance, because I don't agree with that decision that was MADE. I MADE A CALL TO MY PSYCH CASE MGR, WHO IS ALSO TRYING TO KEEP ME OUT OF THE BAKER ACT FACILITIES. THEY, AS WELL AS NEUROLOGY AND PRIMARY CARE ARE AGREEING WITH THE INSURANCE THAT I DON'T NEED ANOTHER SLEEP STUDY
I was really looking forward to finally getting mental health and I waited 2 months for a therapy appointment for it to be cancelled a couple days before the appointment because the provider is now going on vacation,… which should have been planned beforehand. The receptionist called me to reschedule and the next appointment is February 2024. Due to no fault of my own I have to wait 4 months for an appointment. Seeking mental health should never be this difficult.
Horrible place. You are a body in an assembly line. You are not important because when you need them they don't respond. During the pandemic they were the most useless doctors. They are not available after hours and… that is when you really need help
There not about helping you there about making money off you abuse of Medicare funds. It's there way or you receive no help. I was just there all I wanted was to get back on the meds I knew helped me nooooo they want me… to do it there way. I suffer from migrains PTSD bipolar panic attacks suicidal tendency depressionI was left with no meds for any of theses. They will let you suffer.
On my first visit there I was asked to come in early and was informed they would have enough time to get my evaluation done. Started my evaluation only to stop half way through it because their next appointment was… there. When trying to schedule my next appointment I would have to wait 2 months to be seen again. When I went and spoke to my "therapist" and they heard everything that has happened to me told me that they will have to report this. Did not take into my account what I was there for and what I needed at that point and had me crying in tears due to the fact that they have to report it. Told me when I asked not to that they will have to consult their supervisor to determine the best course of action. I will not go back to that location or to that "therapist" worst thing that I ever did. It makes me not want to seek out help due to this experience.
