Treatment Centers in Florida That Accept Florida Medicaid

Florida Medicaid covers drug and alcohol rehab by way of the Statewide Medicaid Managed Care plan a member is enrolled in, such as Sunshine Health, Humana or Simply Healthcare. Therapy, detox, short-term residential care and medications for addiction treatment are covered, although several of those levels reach members as plan alternatives rather than standard state benefits.

The listings below are built from government treatment registers, together with licensing files held by the Florida Department of Children and Families. Treatment in Miami, Tampa, Orlando and Jacksonville sits beside smaller towns on the Panhandle, the Treasure Coast and the Keys. Filter the listings by city or by level of care to narrow them down.

Common questions about Florida Medicaid

Answered from what is listed here.

Does Florida Medicaid cover rehab?

Yes, Florida Medicaid covers medically necessary substance use treatment as community behavioral health services, including assessment, medical and psychiatric care, and individual, group and family therapy. These are minimum covered services for every Managed Medical Assistance plan under Statewide Medicaid Managed Care.

Detox, residential care, IOP and PHP are delivered as in lieu of services, so which ones a member gets depends on their own SMMC plan.

Medicaid Rehabhttps://rehabseekers.com/insurance-accepted/medicaid/
Does Florida Medicaid cover inpatient or residential rehab?

Yes, but through the member's health plan rather than as a standard state benefit. All nine SMMC plans offer substance use short-term residential treatment and addictions receiving facility detox as in lieu of services, which a member can decline in favor of standard care.

Adults aged 21 to 64 are limited to 15 days a month in these facilities; a pending waiver would raise that to 90 days.

Medicaid Residential Rehabhttps://rehabseekers.com/insurance-accepted/medicaid/medicaid-residential-rehab/
Does Florida Medicaid cover detox?

Yes, all nine Statewide Medicaid Managed Care plans offer ambulatory detox and detox in licensed addictions receiving facilities as an alternative to inpatient hospital detox. These facilities are licensed under chapter 397 of the Florida Statutes.

Sunshine Health, for example, allows the first three days at an addictions receiving facility without prior authorization.

Medicaid Detoxhttps://rehabseekers.com/insurance-accepted/medicaid/medicaid-detox/

Does Florida Medicaid Cover Rehab in Florida?

Yes. Florida Medicaid covers medically necessary treatment for substance use disorders as community behavioral health services: assessments, medical and psychiatric care, individual, group and family therapy, and rehabilitative services. Every Managed Medical Assistance plan must include those services as a minimum, so Florida drug and alcohol rehabs that take Medicaid are paid by the member’s own plan.

Florida Medicaid is the Medicaid rehab coverage program run by the Agency for Health Care Administration, and most members are in Statewide Medicaid Managed Care, with contracts from February 1, 2025. Behavioral health is carved in, so each plan covers rehab itself, though plans may subcontract parts, as Humana does with Carelon for its crisis line.

Which Florida Medicaid plan pays for rehab?

The member’s own SMMC plan pays, and which plans are available depends on the region. Florida Community Care, Humana, Simply Healthcare and Sunshine Health run in all nine regions, while Aetna Better Health, Community Care Plan, Molina and UnitedHealthcare are regional. Since February 2025 the state has used nine lettered regions, A to I, in place of eleven numbered ones.
