Malvern Treatment Center – Malvern Detox and Rehab Services
What Malvern Treatment Center – Malvern offers, on record, is detox and residential treatment. Withdrawal is managed under clinical observation before other treatment begins, which matters most in the first seventy-two hours for alcohol and benzodiazepines. A proper assessment sets the level rather than leaving it to guesswork, and it is worth asking for one explicitly.
Only one side is on record here, so ask directly if both are needed. Approved medication is paired with counseling and regular review. Ask directly about session times and frequency, as those details decide whether someone can realistically attend.

Malvern Treatment Center – Malvern is located at 940 West King Road in Malvern, Pennsylvania, 19355. The city lies within Chester County. People travel in from the surrounding area, and confirming the route beforehand saves difficulty. For my 1st rehab experience. Malvern institute was the best!! All staff were wonderful!
Was in there Back in 2003, around before Christmas. Place was beautiful and so surreal and peaceful... Helped me appreciate life Can be beautiful to just look at soberly. Psyhs. Good too. Food was awesome too. They even… made me hand poured flapjacks for breakfast. And sausage 😋 I am currently Sober thanks to A lot from MALVERN. I HOPE TO REVISIT IT SOMEDAY SOON JUST FOR A GROUP OPEN MEETING 🙏 🙏 🙏
Tried to help get a friend into there and their employee had the wrong information and turned us away and refused to look up the correct insurance information that I could provide to them. They were extremely difficult… to work with and I’m disappointed with their lack of empathy especially towards people who are truly struggling with substance abuse. They only care about what goes into their pockets not their patients.
this place changed my life for the better. that’s genuinely it. that’s the review
Went here for treatment in August 1984. Still sober today!
Malvern is amazing!! If I ever needed treatment again I would absolutely choose this facility. They are caring & made me feel at home.
I had an excellent time at Malvern
How did this place get so many 1 stars? It should be atleast a 4.5/5 not 3.5… Literally had some of the best moments in my life at this place. Had great folks there too… even had a VP pagan there (he told me some… stories) lol…among others such as nurses, docs and so on… this place was the best man… I thank God for allowing me to get the help I needed there. One thing to take note of… no caffeine or very little is there… so prepare for the caffeine withdrawals too… not fun… migraines get so bad until you miss meetings and group activities… but at that point a staff member should get you a soda or something… happened to me and I was in so much pain… the owner took me to his office and gave me a Pepsi.. boy that migraine was gone in less than 5 mins! It was like magic lol! The owner was a hard ass in front of everyone but he does have a soft spot… I wonder if he is still there. He was def older with long hair and glasses I remember. Overall place was amazing…I don’t want to call it a vacation because you do suffer mentally and physically with withdrawals but the family atmosphere was amazing…. 5/5 star facility! Amazing place. If your going to go, make sure you keep your butt in there for ATLEAST 30 days to fix yourself… your brain will do everything it can to leave within the first 2 weeks… then it’s smooth sailing after that! God Bless you all!
They over medicate you early to keep you quiet cant have a phone.tp protect yourself
Malvern at king road changed my life . If I ever had to go through treatment again it would be my first choice . The staff is very caring and really understands. They give great advice and try to help you in the best… way possible . They give you and help you get the resources you need to continue on your sobriety journey... they saved my life ....
By far the best staff who cares for everyone that comes through the program . Still allows smoking cigarettes and you can purchase them in the vending machines . When I needed help I would come to malvern king rd and… also willow groove . If you want to get your life back on track please consider this place !!!!
I recently completed treatment at malvern (king road location) the facility is decent , they seem to keep it very clean and so do most of the patients . I gave a solid 4 stars because of these factors: the grounds are… nice they provide a decent sized walking trailer , they have outdoor games and activities that everyone who is able can get involved, they have decent sitting areas . The food was okay, some days the meal choices were odd, like grilled cheese and Italian wedding soup for lunch then burgers with tomato soup for dinner , alas it was still tasty. The staff were great ,they all seemed to actually give a damn , and I cant tell you how many positive things they say throughout the day.( Lynnwood, doreen,Justin, Evan, Katie, Kristie, Jen, Matt, Charles, Shaun) my small list of people who made my stay worth while . Along with my counselor Maddie putting in the extra 10 percent to make me comfortable during my time there. The negative factors, there isn't much curriculum, I think the patients would benefit from more book work , I have done tc program in state prison and while there was a lot of book work it helped me greatly understand myself more and learn how to practice healthy coping skills and positive self talk , even how to adjust my core beliefs. All that from having to do some book work . In malvern most of the groups are just open floor discussions, not much is done to help people change the negative self talk they impose , or better yet give them a solution to there problem . I have several years sober before I relapsed and I would often re read my books from TC. SO a more structured tc like programming there may be very beneficial. Further more there is a lot of favoritism going on within the facility which seems to cause push back with patients and there is also alot of fornication taking place which is often lot ho several times before the individuals are removed from the program. Maybe using the advantage of several facilities, and further separation by age would be best. It seems the younger individuals are more interested in the sex acts then the older ones. But all in all the place wasnt bad id love to apply for a job there to also help people and even help make the place better one day . My advice is if you go , your small group is the best group to share in . -Zach
This was my first time in detox and rehab and I thought this place was awful, but looking back on my experience, I would give it 5 stars.
I was VERY sick at Malvern detoxing from tranq/fet. They let me throw up for about 6 hours before finally sending me to the hospital where I was admitted for a WEEK!!! I was treated with extreme negligence I should have… been sent to the hospital MUCH sooner. Paoli hospital on the other hand was amazing.
This place truly changed the way I used to view my life and couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity I had there, staff was great, food was great, and the community was great! Shoutout to all supervisors and staff… you guys really helped me get clean I couldn’t be more thankful!
This is a good rehab program
Does anyone if this place has a gym ?
It’s been 4 years that I’ve held off giving Malvern a well-deserved 1 star review. I went to Malvern because I struggled with meth addiction. I had admitted myself when I was in psychosis and I AMA’d shortly after. I… really needed help so I called back a few weeks later wanting another try. I remember the lady on the phone said “we need to save our beds for people who deserve them.” Speaking to the fact that I left the first time and was not serious. I was absolutely mortified. I drove there in person to speak with someone who may have had more authority than the admissions team. They said they would allow me in a second time only if I got a psychiatric screening over at building 50 in Norristown because they were concerned about my psychosis. I went and got the screening and was approved by the clinical staff at building 50 to receive inpatient addiction treatment. Malvern DID NOT HONOR THEIR REQUEST. They still didn’t let me in. I ended up going somewhere else and I got my recovery. I have just about 4 years clean now. I am in the Bachelor of Social Work program then I am going for my Masters. I imagine Malvern refused me the second time because they prioritize their numbers over their patients and I was a risk to their graduation rates. They treated me like I was not in their scope of practice just because of the adverse effects of meth. If you want a solid state run rehab, go to Pyramid where they will treat your condition in detox. Or go to Penn Foundation where they understand it takes more than one try to get it. Malvern prioritizes the wrong values over and above patient care. Also there were patients getting high on Suboxone in their detox wing when I was there. Pitiful establishment.
One of the best places I've ever been too,so helpful
This was my third treatment center in a year. And I had great success. The King Rd location and Willow Grove have two different curriculums. I personally prefered King Rd because men and women are not segregated and… they encourage rest if you need it vs Willow Grove is segregated and they you out of your room during group times. The King Rd location was more laid back. The food was great and staff, also. They let me stay longer in my detox room at my request. Sing along evenings, poetry hour, and church were actually so much fun, instead of corny. One suggestion I would give, is make sure you pack enough cash to buy cigarettes for a month at $13/pack from vending or come prepared with your own.
Place not so great they kicked me out at 11 o clock at night made me walk off premise it was like 9 degrees outside but they couldn't offer me a ride knowing im not from that town isn't that a lawsuit? But this place… use to be great not anymore.
Sobering
Just wanna thank the entire staff n facility - bcuz of what you people do - I am a better person in this world for it - not just king road but also Willow Grove - it took me a few times to get it right - so today I can… say that I have been clean n serene for almost a year n now my partner is going through it n I support her cuz I love her not bcuz of no obligation but bcuz she supported me in my struggles - thank you staff n all clinicians that work at any n all Malvern treatment centers - I am truly grateful for your services - God bless you all
I have been to a few treatment centers and this by far is the best one! The staff, every single one of them, is wonderful. From the clinical aids to nursing to therapist and admissions. The community we had was very… supportive. Highly recommend.
Although I highly recommend Malvern Kings Road for treatment, I am highly disappointed in my decision and Malverns recommendation for aftercare. Recommend MVP Media. Unless you have financial support, be cautious of… Halfway House programs. This is a Therapeutic Community and I feel like I am back in prison. The so called "help" with my husband (who is currently in a Nursing Home with Dementia) does not exist. It's all done through "referrals" by a CRS, which I can do on my own. I can't work for awhile, can't see my husband. There is literally no "house" food. I have yet to eat upon my arrival. Looking for other alternatives. Very disappointed in aftercare recommendations.
My husband is currently there, unfortunately for the second time. He has always called me complaining about something at every other rehab he has been to. He really likes it there. The staff is amazing. There is one… tech there named Charles and he is someone my husband really loves. He talks to you without judgement and keeps encouraging you to keep trying despite many relapses. I actually met him when j was in IOP yrs ago and know how uplifting he is. My husband actually gets involved there and comes out with a positive outlook.
On two separate occasions my son was in need of in-patient treatment. I contacted Al and he demonstrated exceptional patience to help us get a bed. My son received excellent treatment while in the Willow Grove Program… (detox process, group sessions, family sessions, and after-care planning) and expressed afterwards that of the 5 programs that he was in, Malvern was the most helpful for him. There were several other occasions where Al was helpful when my son, was trying to decide to go to a program, but did not actually go. Family Therapist Susan was extremely helpful to help Isaiah with family - related trauma issues. After working over 20 years in the behavioral health system, I consider Malvern Institute as second to none.
My thanks go out to Jessica, Dr. George Collins, Dave H., Kurt, Sean, Christian, Matt, Todd (Church!), Devon, Brooke, the Nursing Staff, the Housekeeping Staff, the Cafeteria Staff! and anyone else I have forgotten -… sorry! If you need help and are reading this. Call NOW!! Do NOT delay!! An added P.S. I look forward to returning as an Alumni next Tuesday.
I would recommend Malvern for all recovery needs. My son recently went there and Amber R. from admissions genuinely cared and went above and beyond to help me get him there in a very desperate attempt to save my son’s… life. She made herself available, and always replied to my messages in a timely, time sensitive manner. All the employees from Malvern that I have had interaction with were all kind, caring and understanding. They made this process as comfortable as possible. Thank you guys! Keep up the amazing work!
