Northlake Behavioral Health System – Mandeville Detox and Rehab Services

Northlake Behavioral Health System – Mandeville provides detox, residential treatment and intensive outpatient. Withdrawal is managed under clinical observation before other treatment begins, which matters most in the first seventy-two hours for alcohol and benzodiazepines. The structured element runs during the day and people go home afterwards.

Co-occurring mental health conditions are addressed alongside substance use, which is the approach the evidence supports. Medication-assisted treatment combines approved medication with counseling and clinical review. Ask what the assessment recommends before comparing anything else. Waiting times vary, so it is worth asking at the first call.

Absolutely HORRIBLE experience. I went here at 17 for a mental breakdown and this place exacerbated my mental health issues until I completely shut down and basically dissociated to deal with the lack of stimulation,… physical fights, immediate danger from other patients, etc. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE. They mix hostile, abusive people and suicidal people, which is totally disgusting. The aggressive individuals preyed on and attacked the suicidal patients and the staff gossiped about the teenage patients. I think this place actually traumatized me. I’m too scared to ever reach out for help again due to what I experienced here.

I’m writing this to formally document the dangerously unprofessional and unlawful way my father was released from your facility. He was discharged in a completely unstable state with absolutely no discharge paperwork,… no care instructions, and no summary of the treatment he received while he was there. Even though my sister is his legal Power of Attorney, the staff refused to communicate with our family and actively blocked access to personnel during the discharge process. Even more concerning, his long-term medication was abruptly stopped without any transition plan or medical oversight. This directly caused him to go into a state of manic psychosis and led to an emergency room admission for dehydration and crisis immediately after leaving your care. Releasing a patient in that condition with no paperwork and zero coordination with the POA or family is a total failure of safety protocols and a violation of patient rights. This was a severe lapse in your duty of care that broke the law and forced an immediate medical emergency that never should have happened. I will be getting the proper authorities involved for all the people involved in this unsafe and unlawful discharge .

I got back from here about two months ago. I was there for about 2 weeks. In all of the rooms of the unit, all of the paint was peeled on the walls. There were cockroaches, bugs, and bedbugs. Some of the staff would… tease or harass the kids. Me and other patients saw that the milk was always expired. However, as someone with a dietary restriction they did happen to be very accommodating with that. The protein shakes I was given were always very thick though. Also, I was finally able to start a DCFS case against my dad.

They don't really help you with mental illness. You just sit around a table doing arts and crafts will the Therapist reads out of book. Update I would give this hospital and their staff a freaking 0 if I could for the… simple fact is my medication was lost that was filled I called them immediately seeking to see what could be done they were supposed to rewrite my prescription send it to my pharmacist and then I was to get with my insurance company about filling it again Here this was last month On the 16th here we are now in May 20th Just found out today the doctor cut me off of my mind meds and did not call me did not tell me did not write me a letter of cancelation didn't have me come app there and sign any paperwork or nothing just cut me off cold Turkey so if anybody on here is going to north lake outpatient for help behavioral for help needs to immediately in my opinion stop seeing Taylor wisely because he is not a psychiatrist he is only an NP and if you have some Ticket issues they will not be addressed and if you have any other problems God bless your soul that's all I gotta say it's app to you if you continue seeing Dr. Taylor but you know what I'm looking at my better health and I am going elsewhere I will never ever ever ever recommend north lake hospital to anyone I don't care how severe their case is how little severe case there is they will not go That place needs to be closed down ASAP not to mention the mold the mildew and everything else that's in the clothes down parks that they still operate under we're gonna get into that. This is only my opinion take it as you will.

I left a review about my very very unprofessional and poorly handled stay at this facility and the review has been deleted. Staff show up hungover and openly talk about it and what alcohol they drank, with active… alcohol recovery patients in the same unit. Staff was condescending and not friendly, would often get into bickering matches in front of patients during group time. During my stay a patient had strict dietary restrictions and every meal brought (3 day stay) was outside of restriction and the patient had to wait while others ate. The phone was broken and had to be put on speaker to talk to anyone, eliminating any privacy for patients. My name was never learned by any staff member. They called me the wrong name even after being corrected. This facility does not care about the patients. Children are being abused in this facility and no one is doing anything to stop it. DO NOT SEND ANY LOVED ONE HERE IF YOU TRULY CARE ABOUT THEIR WELLBEING.

I got sent here recently for a whole month. The place looks nothing like it does in the pictures, paint peeled poop smeared on walls, period blood on walls, cockroaches and bedbugs, food was always cold and not edible.… I gained 10 pounds while i was in there. I got my head slammed into a wall by a girl and got pushed to the ground by a staff member. This place should be shut down. Nothing good came out of this place. I opened a dad’s case and everything about this place. My friend got SA’d here and the staff would tease and harass the kids to get a reaction so they could get sedated it’s a horrible place been shut down multiple times!

I was SA by a Male staff member there when I was 15. He barely even hid his SA. Because I had a crush and he was flirting “as a joke”. Things escalated way past a joke and I didn’t even realize how weird this behavior… was untill I got to adulthood. I also witnessed a female staff member lock herself in a room with a child and fist fight. I came to this google page to see if I was alone in my treatment and sadly I wasnt

I stayed here in 2017 as a 12 year old child. This place was so awful. It took them 5 days to look through my bag and I had to wear huge scrubs until then, they had ripped and the slippers were soggy and wet but that's… all they had apparently. No soap in the showers and they threw away the baby soap that was in my bag so I couldn't bathe. no clean towels, no rag. Some days we didn't get lunch for some reason. Food was delivered in styrofoam containers and were shaken before arrival, so we'd have eggs and canned peaches mixed together. No blankets to sleep with. Told me they were rooming me by myself because I was younger than everyone else and they thought I'd get SA'd by another person. When I finally got my bag a day before I left they threw away all my soap and deoderant even though I brought stuff that was alcohol free and followed the rules. Everything about this place was terrible except the other patients there. This place needs to be closed down and I hope no other child has to go through that, but after looking at the other reviews it seems like they're known for it at this point. It may be 8 years later but I still recognize how terrible that place was. Send your kids/go to Brentwood or something instead, anywhere else but here.

INHUMANE is the only word to describe this place. The staff is AWFUL and treat the patients worse than you can even imagine. I watched techs taunt and harass other patients just to make them flash out and get sedated.… It’s like a game to some of them. They have zero empathy for anyone. They have 19 and 20 year olds working there that have fun picking on the patients. It’s sad and disgusting. The food is literally inedible and always cold. There are no hygiene products and they don’t let you bring any with you. There is hand soap and that is what you have to wash your hair and body with as well, not to mention NO HOT WATER. freezing cold showers and a freezing cold facility. It’s too cold in there to even sleep and they won’t allow anyone to have an extra sheet. The bathrooms are locked and I cant count how many times I asked to use the bathroom and was told NO! People peeing on themselves left and right because they can’t hold it and the techs let them sit in it until it dries so the smell in there is AWFUL! I can’t believe it’s even legal to run a facility so poorly. I have absolutely no good things to say about this place other than the ONE empathetic tech named mason that is way too good to be at such a shitty place.

I hope you or your loved ones NEVERRRR end up here! It’s nothing but a holding cell! When I arrived to pick up my loved one she looked like she had been in the wilderness! If you read this website it’s ALL LIES! They… gave my loved one an outpatient service where the doctors and therapist are on vacation and wont return until September! I spoke with a therapist named Cheryl or Shirley and the Discharge guy named Warren and nobody has gotten in touch with me about GIVING MY LOVED ONE ANOTHER REFFERRAL! The doctor also KNOWLINGLY gave her MEDS that were ALREADY PRESCRIBED to her that DIDN’T WORK! The website is worded with so much care, compassion, and concern but it’s ALL LIES! When I was on the phone, sometimes I heard quarreling and staff screaming at the patients! I couldn’t wait until my loved one got out of that holding cell of a hot dam prison!

I received the absolutely worse customer service. I was also questioned on my professional title that had nothing to do with me calling to check on a loved one. The service that I was provided was blatantly… disrespectful and disregarded my main concern which was to check on a loved one. This is a center that suppose to care for people with mental health illnesses but from the way I was treated on the outside I can only imagine what is being done on the inside. I felt disrespected to the point that I reached out to the CEO to address my concern, just waiting on a reply. Dr. Oliver AAS, BAS, MBA, DHA

Mixed Experience – Amazing Staff, Poor Facility I recently spent time at this mental health hospital, and while my overall experience was a mixed bag, one thing which stood out above everything else was the staff.… Particularly one of the Techs named Mason. Let’s start with the downside. The facility itself is in desperate need of updates. The environment felt more institutional than therapeutic — fluorescent lighting, peeling paint, and a general sense of neglect. Some of the common areas felt cramped and outdated, and there were moments where basic supplies or comfort items were in short supply. For a place meant to promote healing, the physical space sometimes felt more discouraging than supportive. That said, the staff truly made all the difference. Despite working with limited resources, they showed compassion, patience, and a real commitment to helping patients feel seen and safe. Mason, in particular, stood out as a rare kind of person — calm under pressure, attentive without being overbearing, and able to bring humor and warmth to even the hardest moments. He always showed up with a smile and great energy, and I continually saw him go out of his way in order to help anyone he could. He treated everyone with respect and genuine kindness, which made a lasting impact on me and I'm sure many others. While I can't say I’d recommend the facility based on the building alone, I would absolutely vouch for the people who work there. If the management ever invests in upgrading the space to match the quality of care being delivered, it could become a truly exceptional place.

I was sent here in highschool. I couldn’t remember the name of this place for years until I found my check out papers. I’ve been wanting to leave a review for a long time. This place should be shut down. There were… violent fights, no therapy or counseling - we didn’t even get to see doctors every day, all we were given was a journal and sometimes time in the “gym”. The food was disgusting and barely edible. DO NOT. I repeat DO NOT send your children here. They don’t separate the girls by concern, there’s no care. It’s a holding facility and that’s it. This place should be closed down permanently. I cannot say enough bad things about this place. Please if you love someone, do NOT send them here.

So far have been with them since the start of the year and nothing but disappointment after another. Was doing therapy sessions once a week with someone and it was going well for about a month until she left. Since that… therapist left they tried to get me rescheduled and I've been with a different therapist each time and it hasn't helped one bit. They keep messing me up in the schedule and changing me around and right now I'm pissed. Don't go here for counseling sessions you will be with someone else every single time.

I was admitted on Thanksgiving in 2019 to the girls ward. There was a transgender boy who was not allowed to be in the boys ward. I was a transgender girl, and the staff were fine until they changed after the holiday.… All of the staff were inside of the nurse's station, behind a window, eating delivery food all shift and gossiping for days. They made jokes about my private parts to my face, and moved me to the other side of the ward behind a door "to protect the girls", which was only told to me by a sympathetic travel nurse. During this stay, two patients & I located broken glass underneath the gym stage. We were able to keep it and harm ourselves while at the hospital. One other patient admitted to it and gave the glass to staff, but I used mine out of misery with the conditions. I wanted to commit suicide more when I left than when I went in. The doctors did not listen to patients, it seemed like they wouldn't listen to your concerns and several patients said they were told what to feel, and told what their problem was instead of asked. I've always called this hospital "Silent Hill Asylum" because that's what it felt like.

Incompetent staff and doctors. Putting hands on children is never okay.

honestly, this place is genuinely not as bad as the reviews make it sound i mean it’s a mental hospital. the quality of the place means nothing compared to the staff and the way they handle their paitents. i had a… really good experience here and i think it benifited me very much. i was in there for ten days and i met a tech, Ms Keya. I will never forget her. she touched my life in a way i could never explain. she inspired me to want to go work in one of these places when im older. I’m only 15 and this place had some really good staff & the therapist Mrs. Kelly that woman helped me so much throughout the way. there was also a tech named Mr. George who always made sure his paitents were having a good time considering the circumstance. He called me Ashlee with 2 E’s lol. i definitely recommend this hospital if you need mental help or etc. (i hope they all see this)

This place was so bad. The hygiene was terrible. Food was terrible and they gave us giant portions. I constantly found hair and flies in my food. I had to lie my way out of there. I never talked to a therapist the… entire time I was there and staff was unprofessional. A staff member forced a patient take a shower. They dragged the patient to the bathroom and turned the shower on then took their clothes off. The patient was crying and panicking from PTSD. They triggered the patient and then left them on watery ground and laughed at them. Paint was peeling off the walls. The rooms were painted bright colors making it seem like I was going crazy. They would give you PNR whenever you had panic attacks or triggered instead of helping you.
