About Denver Springs – Englewood

Denver Springs sits at 8835 American Way, Englewood — around 1.0 miles from Grand View Estates and 1.3 from Dove Valley. That radius takes in Foxfield, Acres Green, Cherry Creek and Parker, all within 6 miles. Arapahoe County is the relevant authority here, which matters for anyone using state-funded care.

Denver Springs offers detox, residential treatment, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient. Medication-assisted treatment is part of the offer, the approach with the strongest evidence for opioid dependence. Co-occurring conditions are handled concurrently rather than one after the other. Some contact can happen by video rather than in person. The facility works with veterans and military families. SAMHSA holds the federal registration; the Colorado Behavioral Health Administration the state license.

Denver Springs – Englewood Detox and Rehab Services

Denver Springs – Englewood delivers detox, residential treatment, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient. Detox runs under medical supervision, and the first three days carry the highest risk with alcohol and benzodiazepines. Structured outpatient runs to a schedule while people return home in the evening.

Both conditions are treated in parallel, which is what the research supports. Approved medication is paired with counseling and regular review. Ask how the program handles someone who has been through treatment before. Whether medication is available is worth confirming at the outset.

Thank You so much for saving my life. And to all the staff on Cedars unit. I've never had such compassionate care in a such a terrifying time in my life.

My wife is receiving voluntary care at this facility. This place is unorganized and unbelievably chaotic. Day 1 - she was in intake. Not once was she asked to see me. The front desk lady turned me away stating my wife… refused to see me. My wife stated she never said this. She was not told how she needed to provide her id# for visitation nor told she can call me from the land lines within the facility, Day 2- she finally got her phone back yet the staff was unable to get her medications right. She was given incorrect dosages, and wrong medications at wrong times. Day 3- she attempted to work on discharge as she’s been here 72 hrs. One of the reps of the facility showed up to give her the morning meds. He took them away, zero explanation and zero info passed to the next staff crew. This place provides zero information, zero answers, will not allow her to leave even after holding her for 72 hrs on a voluntary hold. We had plans for the upcoming weekend. I called to speak with a member of the dr team and was told “Maybe someone will call you “ This is an unprofessional facility, they do not care about medication, they don’t care about patient well being and the don’t care about the families. Never bring family here!

I was an inpatient at Denver Springs during a mental health crisis this summer, and I want to say plainly what I have said to people since: it is the best facility I have been to. What stood out was that the place… actually tried to help. That sounds like a low bar. It is not. I have been through enough of these to know the difference between somewhere that manages you and somewhere that treats you, and this was the second one. Their Help for Heroes program — for veterans, active duty and first responders — is genuinely good, and not just in the brochure sense. The staff took it seriously that I am a veteran and that it changed what I needed. They also worked hard to accommodate my dietary restrictions, which is the kind of small thing a lot of places do not bother with and which tells you how they treat everything else. One piece of advice from having been there: if you or someone you love is at risk, decide in advance where you would go. Making that decision during a crisis is the worst possible time to make it. Denver Springs would be my answer, and I am glad it was.

DO NOT GO HERE DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES HERE THEY ARE EVIL. My brother checked in voluntarily for mental health treatment and they ARENT FEEDING HIM. THEY LIED ABOUT HELPING HIM THEY ARE NOT GIVING HIM THE THERAPY… THEY PROMISED AND THEY ARE STARVING HIM. We tried to get him out and they said even though he checked in voluntarily, the therapist thinks he's gotten more aggressive and can't leave lest we be charged thousands of dollars. HE HAS GOTTEN MORE AGGRESSIVE BECAUSE THEY ARE STARVING HIM. EVIL EVIL PLACE DO NOT GO HERE.

Do not go here if you want to actually get better mentally. It’s not a mental health facility. It’s a holding facility. It’s more a prison than it is a mental health facility. There are mostly homeless people here. They… do not care about your mental health here they just want to see that you can be quiet and cooperative.

I am in this hospital now with my phone, and let me say the communication that the staff have with the therapists, doctors, and parents in horrible, I am a minor and my mother has been calling all day non-stop to get me… out after my 72 hour hold. I did not try and kill myself and I didn’t cut myself. they will not answer my mom and didn’t even give her a packet with the hospitals information like every parent gets. the staffs never keep their rules consistent and the rules are always changing, there is nothing to do and the staff don’t really care.

This place sucks. Once youre out the door they pretty much never get back to you about anything. It always happens this way. Ive been there 3 times and wont be going back. They sent me to the hospital telling me they… would hold a bed for me, and when I got back they said they didnt. I waited over 3 hours after my hospital visit for them to tell me I was lucky I got a bed, then proceed to not be able to provide me proof that I took medication while I was there that might limit me to passing a drug screen for work.

This place has an ROI signed for family, and despite calling for more than five days to speak to a member or care team regarding my Mom's care, she is randomly being released with no family meeting, plan of care or… support despite clearly being mentally ill. We have tried repetitively to get ahold of her psychiatrist, caseworker or someone. Zero communication, and now she's being released still delusional, and manic. Absolutely disgusting at the lack of a patient-centered approach and ensuring there is a plan and support upon release.

I was sent here 7 years ago during a difficult moment in my past life. I didn’t have any particular problems at the facility at all. Was sent against my will from Swedish medical center. The food wasn’t great but,… gushers and fruit snacks were available all the time that was my favorite part, my comfort food thank you. You could smoke cigarettes, and have your phone back then. Possibly still now I don’t know. I didn’t participate in any of the group sessions, but It was a reset for sure, no complaints besides the horrible food. 🍱 I would like to speak to the old doctor who asked me about my childhood emdr, I need to speak to him. How can I contact him? Just a phone call. He is the doctor who tells people they can’t leave until he says so. Minimum 3 days but up to 2 weeks. I need to tell him thank you and I need answers to my questions.

Overall, this facility provided a somewhat positive and safe environment for me during my unfortunates circumstance’s Regarding the staff, I had high expectations for the Detox and Mental Health support provided to… individuals in crisis facilities. While some staff members demonstrated kindness and helpfulness, others fell short. The comments made by certain staff members about patients in the meal room and nursing staff had a detrimental impact on my anxiety and mental well-being. These remarks made me feel like a burden and even led me to wish I had succeeded in my attempted suicide. I was brought to this facility following a suicide attempt and an incident where a gun was pulled on me at home. Additionally, the safety of my hometown, Grand Junction, was compromised. Unfortunately, I lacked friends and family in the Denver location and was in the facility longer than necessary. However, I was not stable and did not have a place to stay. At one point, Nurse April and Dr. Tisner inquired about my comfort level with being in a shelter, which only heightened my anxiety and depression. Other staff members, such as Casey, repeatedly asked me when I planned to leave, which made me feel uncomfortable. Another issue I encountered while being here was the scheduling of prayer times for Muslims. As most people are aware, Muslims pray five times a day. Another issue I had was I went without my seizure medication for about 4 weeks. I mentioned the importance of the medication to the “providers” and still to this moment never received it. They had no issue with getting my HIV medication which they didn’t carry but for some reason couldn’t get the medication for my seizures. So if you have a specialist medication EXPECT them not to have it. With being from 4 hours from home and knowing the family situation I am in they still have the audacity to ask if there is someone who can bring them. Regarding staff member Gionni, he responded with a huff and a rude remark, “Oh my god, I’m actually very busy, but whatever. Ugh.” Then, he aggressively unlocked my locker and relocked it. This was extremely uncomfortable and made me hesitant to even ask to pray. Although I am not very good at remembering names, I would like to mention that several staff members were exceptional. They include Nurse Karen, Charlie, Debbie, DeeDee, Yoda, one of the group teachers, Jessica, and the Indian nurse who works on the overnight shifts, Additionally, Nurse Ana (even though she makes patients feelings seem invalid she’s still an amazing nurse) , Nurse Brian and tech Dee Dee were the most supportive, comforting and caring staff throughout my first time experience in a mental health care facility. Case management was mid as they ensured that I was going to a safe and secure location. Peribhu was a sweet and caring individual, However lacks communication skills. To all the staff members who read this, I would like to ask you this question: “Is this how I would like my (loved one to be treated) whoever that may be? If it is not someone specific and you cannot come up with one or care, I suggest you consider finding a new profession.” Casey, April, Grace, Gionni and the bigger elder lady with white hair, As Mental health care worker, they was still pretty low in the company's pecking order. They also need to know that when they act and talk about other patients and other workers in a disrespectful manner that it could possibly make them feel like they wish they never reached out for him and just was successful with their mission of suicide. I speak on this because if this is how I felt, I know other felt this way and will feel this way if nothing is done or change about how staff represent themselves and the company.

This is for the Cedar wing specifically Unfortunately, I needed help, and no one wants to be stuck in a facility. However, they treated me with respect, kindness, and understanding, and they truly helped me get back on… track. They even helped me get appts set up for post treatment. A lot of the negative reviews seem to come from people feeling frustrated with the lack of control while they’re there, like not being able to leave whenever they want or follow certain strict rules. Those things can be hard, but they’re a small price to pay for getting healthier. It’s not a fun experience, but sometimes it’s a necessary one if you’re trying to get your sobriety back or need mental health support. Huge thank you to the staff — it’s a tough job, and they deserve more recognition.

My son is currently here. He seems so much worse off when I visit him than he was before he went in there. He hasn’t been able to sleep in 3 days because they won’t allow him to go to his room! After that and seeing all… the other concerning statements made by parents/patients yeah I’m good on this place and will be seeing about getting him out tomorrow.

As others have said the billing department is shady. I overpaid when I was there. I received an initial bill of $2,257 and received a 15% discount for prepaying and I was billed $1,919. The bill came back from the… insurance for $1,612. They will no longer give me a 15% discount off the $1,612 new figure. It should be $1,612 * 0.85 = $1370 new bill. I have been waiting 2+ months on a refund. I was given a new number to call and I still have not heard back.

As a homeless veteran, I’m glad to say I was treated as such. Friendly and dedicated staff. Be patient with them, they seem to have gone through a recent adjustment in leadership or management causing their old flow to… be a little different - but optimized from what they are used to. So, be patient if you’re a patient. If you’re a visitor, be prepared to also be patient. Expect the unexpected when you walk in. Maybe you’ll be shocked. Maybe it’ll seem normal. But just expect an ambulance while waiting in the lobby. I got fussy. I dint get why I wanted. But then it was explained that I’m getting exactly what I want and need. Again, fabulous staff. Perfect cleanliness. Which as a hobo vet, I notice and appreciate.

As a parent, this has been the worst experience we have ever had with a facility. Extremely unhelpful and uncaring staff. They refuse any assistance with resources beyond what has already been tried and exhausted.… Dismissive of both parent and patient needs and concerns. If at all possible stay away from this facility. I didn’t know this at the time but apparently, as a parent, you can refuse to send your child to certain facilities and this is definitely One to avoid!
