Harbor Hall – Petoskey Detox and Rehab Services
The provision listed at Harbor Hall – Petoskey is detox, residential treatment and intensive outpatient. The withdrawal stage is clinically observed, which is what makes it safer than stopping alone. Sessions follow a set timetable while people keep living at home. A proper assessment sets the level rather than leaving it to guesswork, and it is worth asking for one explicitly.
Combined treatment is not recorded, which is worth checking before committing. Approved medication is paired with counseling and regular review. The weekly time commitment varies considerably between providers, so establish it early rather than after admission.

Harbor Hall – Petoskey Address, Location and Contact Information
The site is at 704 Emmet Street in Petoskey, Michigan, 49770. The city lies within Emmet County. The catchment reaches beyond the city itself. How someone gets there matters more than it sounds: travel is one of the commonest reasons a course of treatment stops partway.
Call ahead to confirm directions, parking and what a first appointment involves. If getting there is hard, ask about a remote first appointment. If the first call does not reach anyone, try again at a different time of day rather than assuming the service is closed.

Disappointing…
Do not go here. They will arrest you and charge you with a felony if you are high or have drugs/booze on you.
Just wanted to add to the many others saying how horrible this place is. It is full of people who are just trying to avoid jail and it is an intense environment. I also got bullied by ppl who had spent a lot of time in… jail, were intimidating, etc. This place is a joke. Their "detox" is straight up dangerous, no medical intervention at all. I saw someone have seizures and they still didn't send the guy to the E.R.! He was coming off multiple Gaba agonists and they made him do it cold turkey. He could've died. You have to taper gaba agonists or it can do permanent damage/kill you. I actually had a seizure while at the facility for the first time in my life because they couldn't manage my prescriptions. The actual facility is not nice at all either. The treatment "program" is awful as well. When I went here, I was in trouble with the courts and it was either rehab or jail. This place was SO BAD that after 2-3 weeks, I literally left and chose jail over it. I got more out of jail programs and was treated better there. Not a joke. I spent 4 months in county jail over staying at this place for like 2 months. Thats how bad it is. I'm honestly so glad I didn't stay. They must have a contract with the state because soooo many ppl in there are straight out of prison.......and I mean ppl who did lots of time and are fresh out....... that's part of the reason why there are so many comments about getting bullied. After I left and did 4 months in jail, I was released to Dawn Farm and I actually loved the program and I did extremely well at Dawn Farm! So it was not a matter of me just not wanting to get sober, Harbor Hall is truly just that bad of a program. Now it is many years later and I'm happy to say that I got my shit together and no longer live the lifestyle I used to. I was just a kid who was in trouble with the courts. I couldn't believe they were still open, and when I read the reviews from recently, it gave me shivers. I had to share my experience to validate the others who had horrible experiences! Crazy to know it's STILL as bad as it was almost a decade ago and still open. They must have a contract with the Michigan corrections department.
Was bullied by other female residents because I was different and one staff member let the girls belittle me and bully me to the point where I'm now about to relapse a year later because I couldn't finish the program.… When Daniel I think his name is he's either the supervisor or director obviously doesn't understand mental health and also let the girls bully me. Also if he runs a group on Fridays I believe. He puts certain people on the spot and humiliates them and belittles them. When I left this facility because of everything I endured I wanted to end my life. I came out feeling worse than going in. I was a level one and was informed I was not allowed to use or touch the remote to the TV and I couldn't do certain things like talk on the phone until I was a certain level. Was only here for a week last year before I couldn't take it anymore. I'm struggling and now am fearful to seek help due to past bad experiences with this placement. Thanks alot harbor hall. 2025 and I'm struggling still because you can't get your stuff together. If I relapse it's because of your corrupt program. If you have mental health I would advise not going here if it's severe. I would hate to see or hear about others going through what I endured.
Love it caring place to go get sober thanks Dean you saved my life 🙏🙏🙏
It's the best rehab I've been to thanks to the Counlers and works they helped me Change my life for the better I've got 4 year's of Sobriety and very grateful for them helping me become a better person.
I've been through the hall 2x 1st time in 2015 and this summer 2024! Proud to be Alumni! If you want to be a better person And learn why and what you are doing wrong. Harbor Hall is #1 in MI for good reasons. They care… about everyone and their families. Saved my life ! Thank you Dean!
They do not support couples in there program even though there men and women facilities are separate buildings. The hurt and the helplessness that I feel right now is unbearable. We want to be clean and start a new… sober life, and they tell me that I have to wait till he is done with his treatment before I can start mine. How can a treatment center tell an addict that wants to get sober, that has jumped through hoops and tying there damndest to get into there facility, that they have to wait? This is why treatment doesn't work for some people because they are set up for failure.
This program is horrible and the reviews aren't accurate. They do not care about your mental health. They will ignore your calls if they simply feel like it. They allow people to physically threaten and bully others… without any consequence. And people are more likely to drop out of the program than get better. I really wish this place could be shut down for the horrible things that they have done.
The staff are extremely caring and have the clients best interest at heart
This place must be some kind of joke.
My therapist here is outstanding. I have never had such a breakthrough in my entire life without this place. I highly recommend this even if your not a drug addict, the only thing I wish I could change is how far away… it is from the UP. This is not your regular run of the mill facility for inpatient, and or outpatient treatment. Although, I only had to do a few classes to chat with my therapist here I wish it was more honest to GOD!
A solid structure in place, more appropriately suited for people who haven't been through treatment before, coming from jails/prisons, etc. A definite plus is the ability to stay for up to 90 days. Limited to only AA &… NA, which not everyone fits into. Disheartening use of outdated & actually "more harm than good" hot seat degradation of individuals. This comes from a never researched theory put forth by Dr Harry Tiebot, psychiatrist in the early 1950's who postulated that initial, forced degradation/humiliation was the only way to "break down" people with addictions. This became the "gold standard" in treatment centers across the US, and spread into many AA/NA cultures. (research William White, noted historian on recovery programs). Also, being forced to sit through a lecture on why abortion is always wrong, abrupt clinical decisions without input from the client, etc. doesn't leave a good feeling of confidence. Recently, they have begun EMDR therapy for clients with trauma background .. unfortunately, EMDR suitability needs to evaluated first. EMDR forces the afflicted individual to re-live their trauma, so that alternative responses can be practiced. Not everyone with trauma can do that early on in recovery. It's retraumatizing & quite harmful if they're not evaluated first. Clients are reporting that it is thrust upon them, and if they refuse, it is held against them as being "resistant" to treatment. Decide what you needs are first, from a treatment center. There definitely are people who can benefit from their treatment modality. But, there are better options in the state, for some people, too.
I arrived at HH detoxed but still was beaten to the lowest of low from booze. Intake was easy, they take your meds phone etc. they do follow directions on script and give you meds as directed. I was in a room with 4… other people, everyone had closet space. It is a beautiful huge old home. They know u need food and it’s a great cafeteria ! Scratch cooked. They know time to think is not your friend as such breakfast is 7 am sharp, show at 7:10 violation ! Punishment. The day is filled with activities Dinner doesn’t end the day still more classes. Home work !!
Horrible experience!! I was told my son didn’t want to talk to me by a counselor that barely knew me. Didn’t let me call my son on his bday.
As a clinician and a family member of an individual who received extremely poor treatment at Harbor Hall, I advise individuals to find another program. Harbor Hall willingly takes on clients in the first phase of… treatment (highest reimbursement), requires patients/clients to obtain Medicaid (even if you have good insurance), and may find a reason to remove you early- before your treatment is complete in order to make room for new (higher reimbursed) people coming in. I've seen it happen twice this year. They recently demanded a recovering client, in treatment on court order, leave without notice. He was slated to transition to half-way house living but Harbor Hall staff did not give him time to find a placement. The offense? Playing with a hose while volunteering at a car wash. That individual is back in a jail cell without treatment because he couldn't find new placement fast enough after they needed his bed for a higher paying client- not because of lack of engagement in treatment. Their arbitrary, power-grabbing decisions are deeply impacting addiction outcomes for a vulnerable population. Please consider other options. Contact me for specific information.
Fantastic program...amazing people!!
Our son is now 15 months clean of drugs. It's a miracle and we thank Harbor Hall and God for that transformation. Thank you to all the staff. When we asked our local drug advocates where is a good recovery place, they… said Harbor Hall has the highest success rate in the State of Michigan. Petoskey also has several support groups that help the men and women successfully get back into the work force. We are so thankful for Harbor Hall.
This place saved my life if your 100% honest it can save yours as well i use the tools they tought me on a daily basis if anyone you know needs treatment that is the place thanks Harbor hall for all you did love you all
Good place that gives you the tools for recovery
