Good people and supportive!
New horizon is a great place to be.If you are wanting to change your life, they are very kind.Staff and counselors Really trying to help you everyone. There is I enjoyed my time here.
Amazing place to go! 20 out of 10! Dustin, Rashonda, and Anita changed my life!!
New Horizons Care Center has been a lifesaver — and Dustin deserves major recognition. I came in overwhelmed, trying to balance a new travel-heavy job while staying compliant with probation and UA requirements. Instead… of taking my money and rushing me through intake, the front desk told me to hold off until we could confirm the program would actually work for my situation. That alone showed honesty and integrity. When Dustin called, he didn’t give me a generic answer. He listened, asked the right questions, and walked me through what could be done. My case wasn’t routine, but he still said, “We’ll figure it out.” By the end of that call, he took me onto his caseload, and for the first time in a long time, I felt real hope. Other facilities either didn’t offer telehealth or shut me down with quick “no, we can’t do that” responses. Dustin took the opposite approach — he cared, he problem-solved, and he helped me build a plan that kept my job on track while still meeting every treatment and probation requirement. After 25+ years of dealing with addiction programs, I have never felt this level of genuine care. Huge thanks also to Chris, my telehealth counselor, who treated me like an individual and helped me find workable solutions so I never had to miss class or work. And to the amazing woman who helped me get medical insurance — you went above and beyond, spending over two hours on the phone with me and providers so I wouldn’t be crushed by financial stress. I’m sorry I don’t remember your name, but I won’t forget what you did for me. If you need a team that truly cares and actually helps you move forward, New Horizons — especially Dustin — is the place to go. Highly recommend.
Ask for Heidi. She IS what this business is all about. She truly has been a blessing and I am so grateful for her guidance and relatable feedback! I consider myself very lucky to have ended up in her office for my… assessment. (I truly believe it was not “by chance” and was no “accident”). I say that because, in my experience, my success relied primarily on my ability to connect with my treatment provider. It played an essential part of my willingness to see things through and to fully open up. I needed to feel I was in a safe space. With someone who I could trust. Someone who I believed had my best interests in mind. Someone I felt had a genuine desire to aid in my recovery. I proudly admit that she checked each and every one of those boxes. I had an instant connection with her and feel it remained that way, consistently, throughout the entirety of my treatment. I owe her a giant “thank you” for her constant kindness, for her unique approach, and for her continued wisdom and encouragement. She is an incredible asset to this field and the way that she genuinely care for those still suffering is inspiring and remarkably beautiful. 10/10 RECOMMEND!
3yrs ago, my license was suspended because of an error made by NHCC. It took a long time for me to get to the bottom of what had actually happened. But when I did finally figure it out I went right over them and they… fixed it straight away. 3 days later my license was released. I can't remember the last time I was so happy. I only wish it hadn't taken me so long to find the problem in the first place.
I just completed treatment at New Horizons Care Center and I am so grateful for the help I received. Ashley and Chris were so nice when I had to schedule appointments and when I had questions they directed me to the… right person. My group leader Dustin was beyond helpful and the most wonderful support I have ever had. He was the right person, in the right place, at the right time that I needed in my recovery journey. He made groups very enjoyable and made me want to do better. On days where I didn't want to go to class, I showed up and was glad I did. My counselor Jo was a huge support as well. She made MRT and Relapse Prevention fun. This is the best treatment facility I have been through. ( I have been through a few). I believe in my heart this place has made a great impact that will stick with me for the long haul!
I have been going to new horizons for about 6 months now. It has been a journey for sure! Everyone I have come across has been very supportive, caring, and genuine people! If you don't see any improvement, its literally… because your not putting in your own self work! This is the first time in my life being sober after 24 years of doing my choice of addiction. I wouldn't been able to make it as fair as I did without the help from my counselor, my group leaders, and my therapist. I am very grateful I choose this place to finally become sober. If you are serious about becoming sober. Please try this place out. You won't regret it!
I have been at New Horizons for almost 6 months. I did 3 months IOP with Dustin King, 3 months of OP with Sarah Love, and my primary Molly Ironmonger. They have all been amazing, helping me through every step of my… recovery. Thanks to them and putting in the work I have my life back, my daughter back, a job, and I'm active in the sober community. Thank you guys so much for being a huge part of my recovery.
After attending 7 dual diagnosis treatment centers and failing I finally found new horizons. I wasn't sure at first if this was going to work for me. I have found that it is the exact program that I've needed for my… whole life. In the beginning it feels like an overly difficult rehab system but once you make it through the difficult begining chapter of a new way of life you'll find that it changes your life for the better. Basically if you treat this program as a way to fix your life and apply yourself you will find the best fix to your life.
They won’t tell you you’re an addict or an alcoholic or ask you to identify as such. They’re interested in you exploring the possibility of unresolved trauma. You can be skeptical but stay open and take what you can get.
I’ve been involved with New Horizon for a number of months and where I cannot speak for everyone, my experience has been as good as I can possibly hope for. The counselors that I’ve experienced have all been helpful,… kind, and honest. New horizon is full of people that will help you as long as you put in the effort to get better and use the resources that they give you. They genuinely want to see you succeed and are willing to cater to your specific needs. I’m very thankful for the help I’ve received and for the friends that I’ve made while I was in their program.
New Horizons helped me learn the tools I needed to change my life back in the right direction. The staff is very friendly and supportive not to mention encouraging. They were there for me every step of the way . My… counselor Dustin King was amazing and truly a perfect fit for me! I am proud to say that I am 7 months sober and I'm forever grateful for New Horizons and the life long skills I've learned from my time with them.
If you are serious about getting help and you don't feel like the staff is right for your needs or situation just ask the front desk to transfer you to Mark...the manager and he will do what he can to help. I was very… unhappy with my counselor and the group I was in just wasn't a fit for me so I talked to Mark and he gladly did what he could to help my situation. If your there because you have to for probation like me, this place will get you in fast and if you are gonna try and better yourself while your forced to be there then the sooner your start the better. Other places won't be able to get you in for weeks and the ability to walk in daily for an evaluation will shorten the duration of treatment. Even if things don't work out for me here thus place won't get any better if you don't speak up, voice your issues/concerns and advocate for yourself.
Friendly helpful caring staff, really flexible and knowledgeable
These people care about the clients and employees!!!!!
I would highly recommend looking into your options with ANY other clinic. If you absolutely must choose New Horizons because of being on state health care, just prepare to be extremely organized with all documents,… tracking important dates, keeping record of all attendances, etc. Front desk on multiple occasions will mix up times of appointments or just dont even put them in their calendar. If you get assigned Marla Tofsrud as your counselor, request a different one immediately! She is painfully slow and doesn't know how to do simple tasks such as printing off a piece of paper in her office so your appointments will take twice as long as needed as you sit and watch her struggle to input information on her computer. She will tell you she will email you a document and then forget (pretty sure she just doesn't know how to attach docs,) and worst of all write up extremely vague reports to your probation officer, often times with incorrect or incomplete information making you look bad. If she doesn't have the information to complete a fully accurate report she will just put down the minimum without calling and asking if you can provide her with the info. The one positive from New Horizons was the counselor who ran groups Riley Leno. I would request Riley as your counselor. I also heard Dustin is great too. Otherwise, good luck to you and keep track of EVERYTHING. I have been with Gateway 2 weeks and they are fantastic all around. Really wish id have started my IOP with them, id be done by now.
I used to go here and they are life savers truly God sent
This place is great everyone's very friendly and helpful plus Dustin is the man! He's an awesome counselor
Manipulative, condescending and Accusational. When I addressed problems with my treatment (not contacting my probation, loss of contact with me) I was kicked out. Charged for groups i wasn't allowed to take at times… double charged for groups. Wouldn't call me back for refund. Seems to be understaffed and chaotic. The clients are the only ones held accountable. Management will not contact the client to address and or resolve issues.
My previous review was made in the middle of IOP, when things were ok. Ok. Not good, or great, and for the most part, BAD. “Co-occuring” on paper maybe, but not in practice. I was offered a mental health counselor… months later after starting IOP, and the clinician running the “co-occuring” groups was never prepared. Literally every day after check-in “so what do you guys want to work on?” Isn’t that kind of a facilitator’s job? If we all had our issues (traumas) taken care, we wouldn’t be in such a setting… This is not the first place that I’ve been to that the clinicians do this; even after reaching “6 months,” most either avoid delivering on what was agreed upon OR they kick you out saying “we can’t help you, you already got it figured out.” And yes these places are notorious for lost paperwork, promised call backs that never happen, or being unable to accept paperwork from interested clients. Client’s are garbage to these places; we never achieve, are only a waste.
Jo, is extremely judge mental and unprofessional. Talks about things she knows nothing about saying my kids and family don’t trust me. Excuse me would you like to call them. Drinking one time 10 years I am a level one… and treated like I am addict in an addict class. Unbelievable. You can build a stronger relationship with kids and family immediately buy starting more family time period when there is no trust broken or problems. People are human we all make mistakes that’s what makes us human. People shouldn’t say things they know nothing about. Never been so upset or mad in my life. I highly don’t recommend this facility at all.
To get treatment to work you have to want and work at it, like everything in life. Sad to see selfish, rude, and lieing reviews from people who themselves were not ready or serious about life change. It has and is… working for me. I use peer support, mental health and intence outpatient services. All 3 have been awesome, cause I want it! If you are like me and are very serious about changing your life please please try this place!
You gotta want the help to get the help. Craig and Chante are amazing counselors.
The councilors are super unprofessional and scream at the residents. The building it's self is super old and nasty, nothing works not even toilets and showers. The place is full of bedbugs.
Very helpful staff friendly service made me feel welcome without feeling judged ,I tried several places in Spokane over the course of three months to get into a place and I was happy to have found new horizons My… experience with the treatment has been well informed and never boring there for I give my review 5 outstanding stars ⭐️
I love New Horizon. I came into this place with a negative attitude and a few weeks later change my whole attitude because I WANTED THE CHANGE. The staff is amazing and they do care. If you believe in yourself they… believe in you.
