Summit Oaks Hospital – Summit Detox and Rehab Services

The register shows Summit Oaks Hospital – Summit providing detox and residential treatment. Detox runs under medical supervision, and the first three days carry the highest risk with alcohol and benzodiazepines. Anyone unsure which level fits should ask for an assessment rather than choosing from a list, since placement criteria exist precisely to make that judgement.

The listing records a single focus rather than combined treatment, so anyone needing both should confirm what is available. Approved medication is paired with counseling and regular review. Ask directly about session times and frequency, as those details decide whether someone can realistically attend.

I see a lot of negative reviews here, but I had the opposite experience. I don’t know about the other units, but I found the detox/rehab unit (unit 2) extremely helpful. Doctors, nurse practitioners, social workers,… nurses and MHAs were all as readily available as possible. Lots of opportunities to participate and learn from speakers and from each other. As long as the patients abide by the facility rules and respect the staff, they are treated with respect and dignity in return. I think it was important to realize that the staff wasn’t there to care for our every need, they were there to facilitate us learning to care for ourselves after discharge. And I felt that they did an excellent job.

Staff needs to be more educated in neuroscience- I was denied my stuffed animal 4 times, and I left feeling more destabilized than when I first arrived. If you want a patient to leave in a thriving state, the needs one… has in thriving are the ones you deem bengin. It almost seems like you want patients to leave in survival mode. For the love of humanity, please revamp your policies and place some paitings on the walls. Staring at blank walls isn't exactly good if you want patients to learn coping skills, the prefrontal cortex needs to be engaged in order for ANY regulation to be learned. Also, Miranda has some attitude that I did not appreciate. - Laurel

I am very satisfied with the care my daughter received. Dr. Rodriguez was very professional and polite, as were the social workers. Thank you very much.

if I could, I would give zero stars My experience at Summit Oaks was extremely disappointing. I went there expecting to receive support and compassionate care, but unfortunately, that was not what I experienced. Several… staff members came across as rude, dismissive, and passive-aggressive. There were times when I felt like staff intentionally made things more difficult for patients rather than trying to help them. The overall attitude I encountered made an already difficult situation even harder. I also had a particularly negative experience with the head nurse, Vanessa and the tech “mrs. D”. I found their communication and attitude to be extremely rude and unprofessional, and I did not feel respected or treated with compassion. The only good soul working at that place would be the mental health technician Brian. Patients in detox are already in a vulnerable position and deserve to be treated with dignity, patience, and respect. Unfortunately, I did not feel that was consistently provided during my stay. I hope management takes patient feedback seriously and addresses the way staff interact with people who are there seeking help. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Summit Oaks.

Might be a decent place to detox but if u are a family member of the person detoxing then expect no call backs or information. The family is the ones cleaning up the pieces. He got out of 2 weeks then went right back to… the drugs. No one would even call us back saying if he got out or not. Turns out, he got out and we thought he was still in. No call backs on the day he left or the following day. Immediate family should get call backs. Now we just wait and see how bad this drug episode will be.

Literally one of the worst rehabs / mental hospitals I've ever been to. The staff really don't care. Not and I repeat do not bring your family here by no means. They keep patience there against their will as well

The nurses pick fights with patients, the place frequently floods and is vulnerable to other natural disasters, groups and snacks are less frequent than other places and rules are far more strict. Its more like a third… world prison than a mental hospital. However, at least the doctors and social workers know what they're doing with medications and resources.

Now that I work in a psychiatric unit, I’m learning about all the ways summit oaks violated my patient rights! Wow! If you can avoid this place, do. Especially awful Dr Dhaibar or however you spell his name. I was in… for suicidal ideation and he took me off my depression meds abruptly because I was angry with him so he said I “wasn’t depressed” despite YEARS of documented care for depression. I was taking lexapro for 5 years when he abruptly took me off of it, I had brain zaps for months following, and after him writing on my chart that he took me off of my lexapro, no other doctors would prescribe me that out of fear. I had to switch to a less effective depression medication. While there, I requested a different doctor multiple times and they refused. Turns out that is extremely illegal of them to do!! Oh also he/summit oaks over medicated me on Abilify SO MUCH that I had a severe leg tremor until 3 months AFTER I stopped taking it. He also tried giving me 3x the agreed upon dosage of a medication that I was already weary of taking, that he convinced me to take, and then put it in for 3x how much I was told I’d be taking. No. And all of the patient advocates at summit oaks suck too. Summit oaks should not be open. The doctors are consistently abusing their power, the night nurses are often neglectful (except Carla, absolute angel she is) and some of the MHAs in the evening are on some creepy power trip too. But of course as most of us know, the mental health care system in America treats psychiatric patients like trash, and even if in for just depression, we are treated like criminals.

Summit Oakes was a positive experience for me. I went into the program experiencing depression and anxiety. After the completion of the program I was a new person. I found the entire staff to be professional, càring and… compassionate. The daily class sessions helped me develop a set of coping skills that i will apply in my daily life and journey.

I was hospitalized here for a week in 2021. I was on the adolescent unit at the time. A nurse threatened me, telling me she was going to “beat my ass”. All of the nurses and staff were so rude, please, whatever you do,… GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! Do NOT admit yourself here, do not send your family here, go elsewhere!

This place should be shut down. Why I’m even claim this is an inpatient when the nurses don’t care about you . Good luck trying to call a patient here you will be on the line for hours for them to hang up on you . The… nurses over medicate you with sleeping pills and if you are a woman, they only have male guards walking into your room every 15 minutes. So hopefully they aren’t taking advantage of you, I heard one of the guards walked into a patients room without knocking and she was naked. Seems like this place is very toxic environment and is making people even more unstable. Should be ashamed

My own personal experience here at Summit Oaks Hospital (Out Patient Program) deserves more than 5 stars. Their level of care, compassion, and their clinical expertise is a major milestone to my mental health recovery.… Not one day have I purposed in my heart to not show up. I truly feel encouraged, empowered, engaged by the clinicians/ medical professionals here on staff That’s the reason why I keep showing up. My experience with Summit Oaks Hospital is 10 out of 10. If you are looking for more information and if concern for yourself or someone else, I highly encourage you to call Summit Oaks hospital and be prepared to receive the highest most outpatient care you’ll ever receive. I feel very supportive and grateful for the outpatient program at Summit Oaks Hospital.

interacted with this place one time. My brother admitted himself, I went to visit on one of the two days in which they have 2 hours available for visiting, they even signed my name in before i showed up but i waited the… entire time and didn’t get to see my brother and he wasn’t informed that i was even there. i showed up exactly at 6, several other people visiting got in way before me. i asked whats happening and how long it would be before i could see him and all i got was “we’re working on visiting” i heard them on the phone saying they were “just gonna keep him here” referring to me. if this is a staffing issue then management is the problem and the one star stands. i would recommend sending the family members you hate and never want to see here.

Updated review -- I recently went back here to a new unit and this time around wasn't much better. First off, it was FREEZING 🥶. Secondly, like last time, the food went straight through me. Treatment team was a little… better, but not by much. And lastly, it took me FOREVER to get out. I went and saw the social worker and doctor at 10:15 am, and wasn't released until 2:30 pm. My advice is only go here if you absolutely must. Otherwise, avoid this place like the plague.

Attention Parents… if it was possible to rate Summit Oaks Hospital with 0 stars I would. Please don’t send your adolescent there unless you want them to leave worse than you brought them in. This facility should not be… allowed to provide any service to an adolescent. Please look anywhere else to help your child receive help.
