DUI and DWI Programs in North Carolina

North Carolina handles impaired driving in two steps. First comes a DWI Substance Use Assessment. Then you complete either the Alcohol Drug Education Traffic School, known as ADETS, or a treatment program. The assessment is required to get a license back after a DWI conviction, and its result decides which of the two you complete.

Listings on this page show providers that report DWI services along with outpatient, intensive outpatient or residential care. The details come from government treatment registers, state licensing records, accreditor listings and information the providers send in themselves. Many listings sit in towns rather than large cities, with Gastonia, Concord and Buies Creek among the places that come up most often.

Why Trust RehabSeekers.com?

RehabSeekers is an independent behavioral health directory covering drug and alcohol addiction and mental health treatment providers.

Every listing has a source: an official register, a licensing record, or details the facility sent us.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Common questions about DUI and DWI Programs

Answered from what is listed here.

Which North Carolina cities have DUI programs?

North Carolina listings for DWI and DUI programs cluster around Gastonia, Concord, Buies Creek, Greensboro and Jacksonville. Ask any provider whether its assessments meet state requirements for license reinstatement after a DWI conviction.

Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh are the larger cities nearby, and people living in or around them can widen a search from there. Comparing intake times, session schedules and payment options across towns makes choosing a program easier.

Rehab Centers in Gastoniahttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/north-carolina/gastonia/
Does NC Medicaid cover DUI treatment in North Carolina?

Ask the program whether it takes NC Medicaid before booking, because about half of the DUI and DWI programs in North Carolina record accepting it. Coverage runs through the member's health plan, such as AmeriHealth Caritas North Carolina, Healthy Blue of North Carolina or Carolina Complete Health.

Rehab Centers in North Carolina That Accept NC Medicaidhttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/north-carolina/nc-medicaid/
Are there DUI programs near a river in North Carolina?

The most-named river near North Carolina DUI and DWI programs is the South Fork Catawba River, followed by the Black River and West Branch Rocky River. Most of the DUI and DWI programs in North Carolina sit within 25 miles of a river, a median of about 11 miles.

A nearby river says nothing about how a program runs, so intake staff are the people to ask about class schedules, assessment format and payment before choosing one.

Rehab Centers Near Rivershttps://rehabseekers.com/attractions/rivers/

What DWI program does North Carolina require, and who oversees it?

North Carolina requires a DWI Substance Use Assessment before license reinstatement, followed by ADETS or a treatment program, depending on what the assessment finds. The Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Use Services at the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services publishes the DWI rules. The same division also posts the certification applications for ADETS agencies and instructors.

ADETS is an education course built on the PRIME for Life curriculum. A treatment program is clinical care for a substance use disorder. Clinical programs in the state are licensed by the Mental Health Licensure and Certification Section of the Division of Health Service Regulation.

A listing on RehabSeekers.com does not show that a provider is authorized for DWI work. Ask intake staff directly, or check with the state division.
