Treatment Centers in North Carolina That Accept Wellcare

Wellcare covers drug and alcohol rehab for North Carolina Medicare members through its Medicare Advantage and Part D plans, sold by Centene under the Wellcare name. The separate WellCare of North Carolina Medicaid plan no longer exists: on April 1, 2026 it merged into Carolina Complete Health, and its members moved across automatically with their providers.

Programs appear here because they are on government treatment registers or hold a North Carolina license, and any accreditation they hold is listed. Programs in Charlotte, Durham, Winston-Salem and Fayetteville appear alongside towns along the Neuse and in the mountains. Filter by level of care, then check the program against your Wellcare plan.

Does Wellcare Cover Rehab in North Carolina?

Yes. Wellcare covers drug and alcohol rehab in North Carolina for its Medicare Advantage members, and the 2025 North Carolina PPO summaries list inpatient psychiatric stays, therapy visits, psychiatrist visits and opioid treatment program services as covered, with prior authorization possible for some. Members compare those benefits against rehab centers across the state.

Wellcare is Centene Corporation’s Medicare brand, offering Medicare Advantage HMO, PPO, dual-eligible and chronic-condition special needs plans in North Carolina, plus stand-alone Part D plans. North Carolina was one of eight markets where Wellcare added counties for 2026, and rehabs that accept Wellcare in North Carolina now deal with its Medicare plans.

What happened to WellCare of North Carolina Medicaid?

WellCare of North Carolina merged into Carolina Complete Health on April 1, 2026, and the combined NC Medicaid Standard Plan took the Carolina Complete Health name. Members moved automatically, Medicaid benefits did not change, and providers in either network were carried into the new one, so a former WellCare member’s rehab program stayed in network.
