Kolmac Integrated Behavioral Health – Columbia Detox and Rehab Services

The provision listed at Kolmac Integrated Behavioral Health – Columbia is detox, intensive outpatient and outpatient care. Medical supervision covers the withdrawal period, where alcohol and benzodiazepines carry real risk. Sessions follow a set timetable while people keep living at home. Anyone unsure which level fits should ask for an assessment rather than choosing from a list, since placement criteria exist precisely to make that judgement.

Only one side is on record here, so ask directly if both are needed. Medication and talking treatment run together under clinical oversight. The weekly time commitment varies considerably between providers, so establish it early rather than after admission.

Kolmac Integrated Behavioral Health – Columbia Address, Location and Contact Information

10632 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia, Maryland, 21044 is the address held. Howard County covers this area. The catchment reaches beyond the city itself. How someone gets there matters more than it sounds: travel is one of the commonest reasons a course of treatment stops partway.

Call ahead to confirm directions, parking and what a first appointment involves. Remote appointments may be possible where travel is a barrier. Where no one answers, leaving a message and calling again later usually works better than giving up.

Our family’s experience with Kolmac was disappointing to say the least, particularly when it came to billing communication and the consideration shown to both the patient and caregiver. During enrollment, communication… was excellent. I received phone calls, email follow-ups, and prompt responses. Unfortunately, once the patient was enrolled, that level of communication changed significantly. On multiple occasions, large charges were attempted on my card without advance notice or a clearly communicated payment schedule or due date. Most recently, a $2,000 charge was attempted. After I emailed expressing my concerns and requesting an itemized balance and clear payment expectations, another $1,000 charge was attempted approximately 10 minutes later. Fortunately, my card was locked. Despite multiple emails requesting clarification, I received very little response. When the person handling the account finally replied, the response simply stated that she had spoken with the patient and he would provide the correct card. None of my questions regarding the balance, attempted charges, or payment schedule were addressed. My concern has never been about paying a legitimate balance. It is about transparency, communication, and the stress created when substantial charges are attempted without warning while requests for clarification go unanswered. Mental health treatment can already be an incredibly stressful experience for patients and their families. I believe the care and compassion expected from a mental health organization should extend to its administrative and billing practices as well. Based on our experience, Kolmac has significant room for improvement in communication, billing transparency, and consideration for the patients and caregivers it serves.

Had a great start at Kolmac. Great Counselor and Contined Care Counselor who i knew and looked forward to continuing on with. Something changed in the KOLMAC business, board or something, where the new board and… management fired all the Counselors who were there and crucial to the clients, patients, paying them - kolmac for recovery. Keeping on with Kolmac. But don't recommend, don't suggest anyone sign up for care. There corporate office and board have made wrong decisions and just find another IOP, PHP, or CC. For sure I am passing this on to the Recovery Centers who "recommend" Kolmac.

The place disorganized. I've dealt with double charges, withheld refunds, random no-show fees months later. Multiple times I have been sent the wrong Zoom link and ending up in the wrong group, which was humiliating… every time. The last Clinical Director was supportive anytime I dealt with him. Since he left, there has been a very obvious change. The whole place feels colder, less supportive/accessible, and much more disorganized. They are treating people who need help and they only care about money and maximizing billing. NOTE ABOUT REVIEWS: After seeing the name of a staff person, I got curious about the other ones and Googled several of the reviewers. They work for Kolmac. Notice how they never say they were clients. They are trying desperately to drown out the reviews from actual clients and bump up their rating. If you're considering treatment here, I would take the reviews from actual patients.

I can't say enough good things about my experience at choleric felt supported, respected, and understood — never judged. The whole team is clearly committed to helping people heal, and it shows in every interaction. A… special thank you to Crystal Johnson, whose therapy made all the difference for me. Crystal is compassionate, insightful, and genuinely invested in her clients' well-being. She has a gift for making you feel safe enough to open up and do the hard work of recovery, while also holding you accountable in the most caring way. Her guidance helped me understand myself better and gave me real tools to move forward. Thanks to Crystal and the Kolmac team, I'm in a much healthier place today than I ever thought possible. If you or someone you love is looking for a recovery program that treats you like a whole person, I highly recommend Kolmac — and ask for Crystal.

I personally would not recommend this place. As someone who has been to and through their fair share of rehab facilities, I would have to say this was my worst experience. Please advocate for yourself if you're going to… use this facility and you are employed. They will not ask if you require FMLA, short term disability etc. I am sure they will respond saying "we do fill out FMLA and short term...." Yes. I'm sure you do but you do not ask if we need that. I most certainly did not know until too late. Now I'm sitting on a 0 hour leave balance because of meetings they said were necessary I had to take during work hours. Multiple weeks of missed lunches due to talking to doctors, "counselors" and the like. I don't feel this was a good experience. I don't feel that the counselors have much understanding when it comes to employed addicts with a home life work balance they're trying to incorporate treatment into either. When I tried to advocate for myself stating I needed a modification to my schedule, that classes were too much, my counselor Crystal advised that maybe "adding a Saturday" would help. Add another day to an already overwhelming schedule. Sounds condusive to what was asked right? After this, I emailed Crystal with her director Chad on cc and presented a thoughtfully written and explanative email asking for consideration to modify my classes and days in them. Still, no response from Chad to this day. I did find it funny that the first solution presented to me after removing myself from the program was "would I like to modify my schedule" Albeit too late for me to consider at that point. Meds management was the best part of this program. My meds coordinator was very kind and understanding. The front desk staff was always kind when I spoke to them over the phone. The availability to use LabCorp for urinalysis instead of going to the facility itself was nice. Classes were mainly self lead after a brief check in leaving a lot of time for awkward silence. Once a week they had meditation which I used to flip my phone over and take care of outstanding chores I had been putting off due to class in the first place. The other 1/3 of class was mainly screen sharing and read to us. Pro tip: if you're going to be reading to the class, please take 5 to look up the pronunciation and definition of the words. That was hard not to address but out of respect, was never mentioned. I would not recommend this place for IOP but hope if you're reading this, you find yourself well in whatever journey you're on.

Im at a loss for words. Natalia was extremely kind and helpful she deserves a promotion. I made the call to come back to Kolmac. I had a year and a half sober and I fell apart a month ago. I wanted all Kolmac has to… offer. I wasnt trying to do the wrong thing but I rushed and kept rescheduling a person with authority got involved monday and I was given an ultimatum her way or the highway because I was a red flag due to misunderstanding and rushing the process. I dont feel like a red flag, I feel like a husband, a father, that called for help and this person judged me as not worthy. I have found another path and continue to go to meetings and work with a sponsor. I have faith if I do the next right thing and have more patience I will find serenity and keep working one day at a time. I apologize to those that I frustrated, and thank Natalia for her continued kindness and making sure I would be okay. wish you all the best. God Bless

Would HIGHLY recommend exploring treatment options with Kolmac if you’re ready to step into your recovery. ❤️‍🩹 I completed the 90(ish) day IOP program attending online group sessions three times a week for three hours… in addition to individual medical appts/medication management and individual treatment plan planning. I had the incredible pleasure of working with Lisa S as my group counselor. She was professional, compassionate and understanding of the needs of her group members. She maintained a healthy and safe environment for us to all lean into the process at our own pace and found ways to relate to everyone regardless of situation. My medical/medication management was also all handled via telehealth. I felt heard when discussing my apprehension to some medications and was made to feel like the process to improve my health and the decisions being made around it were collaborative. Katelyn was my individual counselor and assisted me with developing my treatment plan. She is an absolute sweetheart and though early in her career was able to provide guidance and encouragement that felt beyond her years. I am actively transitioning to their continuing care program and look forward to seeing how far I can go with such a strong team behind me. 97 days!!!

For such a well known program my time at Kolmac was extremely disappointing. First off their billing department is a disaster and I just found out they have been billing my credit card for “missed groups” when I never… missed the group in the first place. I have not been able to get ahold of someone to sort this out and get my necessary refunds. Secondly the group counselor I had was incapable of controlling and leading the group appropriately. Multiple times extremely inappropriate and upsetting conversations came up in group and they were not redirected. I had to sit and listen for an hour as my group discussed how much they hate people with a mental health disorder I am diagnosed with. It was heartbreaking and awful to have to listen to. The group leader never reached out to me to discuss my hurt even after being asked to. So I have withdrawn from the program. I am extremely disappointed in how this place is run. It came highly regarded and well reviewed and yet I had a horrible experience here. I do not recommend this place for any individual with a dual diagnosis since they seem incapable of handling those cases appropriately. Also keep a sharp eye on your credit card they demand you keep on file because they charged mine multiple times for no reason.

Thank GOD for this program. I am still a patient in CC, I graduated from IOP and this was the first time I was able to do treatment while still working. In the past the other programs I have attended would not allow me… to work for 30 days. Thanks to Kolmac, I didn't have to lose everything this time. I am choosing long term recovery this time. Hopefully this helps someone. The staff here saved me. THANK YOU

This place is a joke and they steal money from you. Stay far away. First, they do not put the patient first. All they care about is if they get your insurance money. They do not hesitate to cut you off from treatment if… they do not get your insurance money, copay, or co-insurance right away. This interrupts treatment and doesn’t prioritize patient care. They will never reach out to you about these situations until they don’t have their money. They take money out of your account at random times and sometimes double the amount without warning. This makes it impossible to plan for, especially if you are on a strict budget. No bills, emails, or statements are ever sent to the patient. When they finally get reimbursed from your insurance company they never pay you back the money you paid originally. They place the money into a “credit” account that they never tell you about. Basically holding your money while also collecting money from the insurance company. You won’t find about this “credit” account until you call and talk to several people. This is surely illegal. It would make sense that the “credits” you accumulate would go toward future treatment sessions but they do not. There is also false promises and information from the support staff including supervisors, billing, and chart documentation. No one seems to communicate or even know other supervisors. If you have a problem with billing or treatment, They will tell you that they will talk to bosses and supervisors about the issue, however when you speak to the person they said they would talk to ,the other support staff is not aware of a situation or at times not even know who the supervisor you spoke to is. On top of all this the treatment sessions are not taken seriously. I chose to do my sessions online and that was new to me. The clinical counselor that I had allowed the patients to go to the store, smoke on camera, and even drive while on zoom sessions. My counselor also would forget what we talked about in the session before and do the same lesion again the next session. Feedback was hardly given and I got nothing out of the 3 hour sessions. They allow patients who are not serious about recovery to stay, give no feedback, nor pay attention, while they kick out patients who are serious about recovery (me) and attend most of their session due not receiving the copay or co-insurance immediately. They will also tell you about a payment plan however it is not true. Finally, I just wasted 2 months of valuable recovery time at Kolmac.

They care about money only not your mental health. Should be a crime how they operate. They will tell you to take a break until insurance is paid up even though they spoke with them and knew payments are in route.… Thankfully I'm not in a place where I would wanna do harm to my self or others but if I was Kolmac wouldn't help. And my counselor is nice but offers no direction. Last time too Joel porter did something similar when my daughter was born. And they add more days to your program to charge you more. Criminal activities it feel like. Now three week kick out due to billing and they were paid. Seem like unethical or incompetent people in billing. The rate is always changing and now trying to better my life and finish programs and no reply from billing. Emailed CEO AND EMAIL BLOCKED. Emailed to the reply to this feedback@kolmac and no reply. It's amazing how they been around for years and treat people this way. Looking to see if legal action can be taken. They are no taking me or my concerns seriously and just wanted to finish what I started . Real review would be -10 stars. Come on KOLMAC YOUR DEALINGS WITH MENTAL HEALTH AND ACTING LIKE YOU'RE A BURGER JOINT
