Discovery Mood and Anxiety Program – Fairfield Reviews and Ratings

My stepdaughter stayed for 2 weeks. The staff was kind to us (the parents) so I hate to share this but it’s all true: They spent 45 minutes locating personal items at discharge after handing us bags and stating, “you’re… all set.” I took the bags and sat down to inspect what I was given. I was missing all of her toiletries and other items, Including laptop. They had to look for it after I asked about it. No notification of an altercation until the next day at therapy. “Did they call you yo tell you what happened last night?” She was sent to the hospital and the hospital called dad and said, “they (Discovery Stamford) said that they do not want her to come back.” She was placed on one to one but some how able to elope from the facility and was headed towards traffic to kill herself. They were short staffed. No cameras? No one monitoring visits. We could have left with her and they would not notice. Facility is not locked It’s On the main road Observed them open the freezer and there were many frozen pancakes? Freezer burned I am still receiving invites to therapy and she hasn’t been there in a month? They called asking us to send someone’s toy back that they packed in my daughter’s bags and reported that they have some of her things there. I have yet to receive them. This place is not appropriate for children who are at risk of suicide or self harm. I don’t understand what they are supposed to be treating because I received my daughter back in worse condition. They having outings that they never took the kids on because of one kid missed then the whole group was punished. I received a bill from there pharmacy after discharge. Why did I have to provide my card number for the pharmacy if they were not gonna charge it after we gave permission to do so? Just don’t.
I was a client here just discharged a few days ago thank god because 83 days is a crap load of days for a short term rtc.. and honestly this place is pretty good if you’re looking for a worthy residential that’ll… benefit you. Past residentials didn’t work out for me as well as this one did, in fact they even helped me work through the struggles and trauma I experienced at prior facilities and I just want to thank everybody especially my therapist and a couple of staff (idek if I can say their names lul) but you guys genuinely taught me how to come clean towards the past stuff I’ve done, learn how to prevent excessive hospitalization/crisis, and learn to accept my struggles. Even if I had my moments (mentioning other kids too..) and was even hospitalized a few weeks into my stay, I was willing to come back and start again, which I probably would’ve never done in the past, and the fact I tried and kept going even if it was a lot on me already, family struggles, mental health, struggling with psychosis, schizoaffective, some trauma and substance/sh issues I learned to adapt towards my own life, kept myself going and eventually stabilized and helped myself in ways I could’ve never done without this specific location of DMAP please and oh my goodness if you ever think about sending your kid to a residential (for a logically and explanatory reason, for mental health support) PLEASE consider this place the staff are sososoo awesome and even if I will never see any of them again (hopefully at least here) they still are a fragment of my memory, I could technically say this whole place changed my life, which would be a little exaggerated but it helped me live on, even if life isn’t the greatest, there’s still hope, and nothing but you can make the choice of hurting yourself, reach out to someone, anyone. Permanent solutions towards your problems, that are temporary or some that are not totally curable but still manageable. It’s not the answer, help yourself. You pass alone, and you were never meant to be carried, some people are jerks, it’s just life. But that doesn’t mean anyone should effect your own personal goals, happiness, etc.. You are your own person, you won the race to be born too, that means your better than all of those unborn children, embrace it twin. Love forever, hate will only dismantle your soul and turn you into someone you were trying to avoid. Anyway 4 stars but I’d give it a 4.5 if I could #supercoolioawesomenesslennyout 👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀
My daughter really learned how to deal with her issues, thanks to the therapist and staff. I believe she is in a much better place now.
Very poor quality of service. Did not enforce schedule and very little therapy. Totally unhelpful- seek a place more devoted to recovery!!!
I was here as a client in 2020 and I had a pretty positive experience. The staff were professional and caring and many of the groups were interesting. Some staff went above and beyond to help me and I still remember… them. My individual therapist was especially wonderful. It’s difficult to find programs that are professional while also being warm and welcoming, but this program was exactly that. There is a lot of structure which can feel strict and limiting, but sometimes that’s what is needed to heal. I would recommend this place above anywhere else I’ve received treatment.
