To the Monima Team, It is difficult to put into words what Monima Wellness Center has meant to our family. I am writing this review from the perspective of a husband and the father of two young boys whose wife and… mother made the incredibly courageous decision to leave home and seek treatment at Monima. When someone you love enters a program like this, the entire family takes that journey with them in its own way. We placed an enormous amount of trust in Monima, and looking back, I cannot imagine having placed that trust anywhere else. For years, I have watched someone I love deeply struggle with things that, despite her best efforts and years of seeking help, traditional outpatient therapy and other approaches were never fully able to reach. There were wounds and patterns that seemed to remain no matter how hard she worked or how much she wanted things to be different. As her husband, there is a certain helplessness that comes with watching someone you love struggle and knowing that you cannot do the healing for them. That is what makes what we witnessed at Monima so remarkable. From the very beginning, the level of care, coordination, communication, and genuine compassion shown by the entire Monima team was exceptional. Every person we encountered was warm, welcoming, and kind. It never felt clinical or impersonal. It felt like a group of people who genuinely cared about the woman in front of them and were committed to helping her heal. And we have seen a drastic difference. The woman who came home to us is still the wife and mom we have always loved, but there is a lightness, strength, confidence, and hope in her that our boys and I can see. We have watched her gain an entirely new understanding of herself, develop tools she can carry into everyday life, and begin working through things that had remained painfully stuck for years. Seeing meaningful change in areas where we had previously seen so little progress has been extraordinary. There are many choices when searching for mental health treatment, and choosing the right one can feel overwhelming. What makes Monima truly special is that it is dedicated solely to women and has created an environment where women can feel safe enough to be vulnerable and do incredibly difficult work. The facility itself is beautiful, peaceful, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. Everything about the environment feels intentional and centered around creating the conditions for genuine healing. Monima also understands that healing involves far more than sitting in a therapy room. The combination of outstanding clinical care, individual and group therapy, psychiatric support, trauma-informed approaches, and holistic services creates something truly unique. They helped her address not simply symptoms, but the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. But ultimately, buildings and programs don’t change people’s lives. People do. And the people at Monima are remarkable. To every therapist, clinician, physician, instructor, technician, administrator, and staff member who encouraged her, challenged her, listened to her, cared for her, and reminded her that healing was possible: our family will forever be grateful to you. You didn’t just care for our wife and mom. The work you did with her has changed something for our entire family. Monima truly is a diamond in the rough. If you are a woman—or love a woman—who needs a safe, compassionate, highly skilled environment to begin doing the difficult work of real healing, I cannot recommend Monima Wellness Center highly enough. From one incredibly grateful husband and two very grateful boys: thank you, Monima. You helped us get back a part of someone we love that we weren’t sure we would ever see again. What you do matters more than you know and you are a gift to the World!

I truly cannot say enough good things about Monima Wellness Center. My experience there was genuinely life-changing. I have been in and out of therapy throughout much of my life and carried trauma that, despite years of… trying, I had never been able to fully process. At Monima, I finally found a treatment team with the clinical skill, compassion, patience, and understanding necessary to help me face and reprocess the darkest experiences of my life. The clinicians at Monima are exceptionally skilled in trauma work. I felt listened to, believed, respected, and taken seriously. When I expressed a need or concern, the staff genuinely listened and did everything they could to support me. That level of care helped create the safety and trust I needed to do incredibly difficult therapeutic work. The PHP is incredibly thoughtful and comprehensive. The groups were insightful and meaningful, the services offered were amazing (like acupuncture), and it was clear how much effort went into creating an environment that felt safe, comfortable, and conducive to healing. I also really appreciated the communication and collaboration among my treatment team. I never felt like I was navigating my treatment alone. What stands out most to me are the people. I was met with so much kindness, warmth, and genuine compassion throughout my time there. Trauma treatment requires an enormous amount of trust, and the people at Monima earned that trust through their actions. I arrived carrying parts of my life that I honestly did not know if I would ever be able to face, much less heal from. I left feeling more whole, more connected to myself, and with an understanding of my experiences that I had spent years searching for. There is no program that can erase what happened to someone, but the right people can help you stop living as though it is still happening. Monima gave me the safety, tools, support, and skilled clinical care I needed to begin doing that. I will forever be grateful to the people who walked alongside me through some of the hardest and most important work of my life. I cannot recommend Monima highly enough. ❤️ The picture is from my last night in San Diego at Torrey Pines. Such an incredible place for healing. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone at Monima.

Monima Wellness is a remarkable place for women seeking healing and personal growth. Their clinical program thoughtfully integrates holistic care while honoring the unique needs of each individual. The environment is… incredibly intentional and purposeful, offering space for a variety of healing modalities, self-discovery, creativity, and meaningful connection. At Monima, they foster a healing community that extends beyond the program itself. Kelly, Director of Alumni Relations, has created meaningful opportunities for women to stay connected, engage in supportive events and resources, and feel empowered in their continued growth. Having had the opportunity to collaborate with Monima, I have seen firsthand the care, compassion, and dedication they bring to supporting women. The Monima team has created something truly one-of-a-kind—a community and environment where women are supported in doing deep, meaningful healing.

As a former practitioner at Monima, I had the privilege of being on the other side of the door and witnessing firsthand the incredible care, compassion, and dedication that goes into supporting every person who walks… through it. What makes Monima so special is that they truly see the whole person. Clients are not treated as a diagnosis, a problem to be fixed, or simply another appointment on the schedule. They are listened to, respected, and met exactly where they are in their journey. I had the opportunity to work alongside an incredibly compassionate team, and I saw over and over again how much thought and heart goes into creating a safe, supportive environment for healing. The practitioners genuinely care about their clients and about helping them find their way forward, especially those navigating trauma, mental health challenges, substance use, and difficult seasons of life. Truly grateful to have been apart of such a beautiful wellness center and would recommend it to anyone needing more support and care.

Monima is truly a life saving space. When I first arrived I was completely overwhelmed by life, shut down, and lost. The opportunity to try so many treatment methods, in one place, and the most supportive environment… I've ever encountered, helped me find my way back to myself; to finally feel safe in my own body. Everyone, from the front desk, to the therapists, and doctors, are incredibly kind and understanding, meeting each person where they are. I never felt rushed or pushed, only gentle guidance and genuine support. They've created a place where healing happens in a community; where I made lifelong friendships with other women through our shared experience. Monima treated Me, not my symptoms. The somatic healing, acupuncture, and other non-western approaches set Monima apart from other treatment centers. I cannot recommend Monima enough.

Monima truly changed the trajectory of my healing. Before coming here, I felt like there was nowhere to turn and that I might never receive the help I needed. Finding Monima gave me not only support, but a sense of… community I didn’t even know existed in the healing process. I believe a big part of that comes from it being an all-women environment. It created a space where I felt deeply understood and supported. I’m incredibly grateful for the friendships I made and for the continued community I still have, after a year and a half of graduating.

I came to Monima in a really dark place, and I’m doing so much better now. The 1:1 therapy made a huge difference—my therapist pushed me in the best way and helped me grow more than I expected. The staff are incredibly… smart, supportive, and genuinely care about what you’re going through. Unlike other treatment centers, I always felt like I had access to someone who actually knew my situation, which meant a lot. The admin team is also really on top of everything, making the whole experience smooth and easy to navigate. I’m really grateful for Monima and everything it’s done for me.

My time at Monima was nothing short of life saving. When I started at Monima I was in a very dark place. From the second I stepped foot into the building I was welcomed with open arms. The staff was so kind, caring and… compassionate, exactly what I needed in that moment. The program offers so many things to help you on your healing journey. The therapists really set the bar high, they truly meet you where you are and listen to your needs. The women that surrounded me through this journey both staff and clients were amazing and really helped make the process of being away from family so much easier. I have made lasting friendships through Monima and love the continued support through their weekly alumni meetings as well.

Working with Monima truly helped me in so many ways. When I came to them, I was stuck, overwhelmed, and carrying a lot of unresolved trauma that was affecting every part of my day-to-day life. Monima helped me take… real, tangible steps to rebuild my foundation — not just emotionally, but practically and mentally as well. They gave me tools that actually fit into real life. I had such a great therapist Kat who I miss dearly and I felt supported without being judged or rushed. Because of the work we did together, I know I can move forward!! The alumni events are the best as well Kelly is awesome

Monima wellness center was pivotal in my healing from the most severe trauma I have ever experienced in my life. My mental health improved immensely under the care of Dr. Sarita Shah and Dr. Corrine Hufford. If a family… member or a friend required assistance with their mental health, this is the place I would send them to. You will heal here.

I can’t explain how much I love Monima Wellness and how grateful I am for what I received from treatment there. The expression you don’t know what you don’t know says a lot because with trauma, at least with me, my… coping skills made me think that I had some kind of control over the nagging all pervasive feeling that I didn’t belong and would never belong…anywhere. It took months of taking apart my false identity and allow myself to trust these experts to help me find and rebuild my life. The addictions which were my solution to life were no longer working, and I was clueless about how to go forward. Thankfully Kat G, Molly, Max, and Denise, Dr. K, Lele, and the rest of the staff did know what was going on and how to help me to go forward. I will always be there biggest cheerleader and refer people there without question. Thank you Monima Wellness!

Nearly one year ago, my cousin helped me walk through your doors of Monima shaking like a leaf, unable to function, and told I needed a higher level of care. I couldn’t see it then, but God was already working. Today, I… stand here healed, stronger, and grateful—living proof of my life verse from Romans 8:28 He works all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Just like today 8/28/25) These months have been life-changing. The Lord has used this time to teach me to care for myself, to validate my worth, to set boundaries, and to speak the truth in love—even when it hurts. I am so thankful for each therapist, every session, every tear-filled breakthrough, and especially for Jessica, who walked with me through so many layers of hidden trauma. To everyone—from the front desk, Ohana & Haven house, to the back office—you are the village that helped restore my life. To those still on the journey: don’t give up. Trust the process. Do the work, even when it feels hard. Healing isn’t liner or easy, but it is worth it—and if you don’t do it now, you’ll pay it back with interest later. Group A, you will always have a place in my heart. Even at home, I sometimes hear your voices guiding me, reminding me I’m not alone. Thank you for being part of my journey, my healing, and my story. I love you, I’ll miss you, and I know the Lord has beautiful plans for each of us. With love and gratitude, Jannie Bug, Gracie, and Wonder Woman a.k.a. ❣️JC Keville

Monima Wellness Center saved and redirected my life. I spent 4 months at Monima this year (April--August), and while those months were hard, the support, encouragement, and care I received at Monima were pivotal in my… healing journey. What stood (and still stands) out to me most was the seemingly endless patience that I was met with at every phase of my journey. My road was rough, and even at the times I was very much *not* at my best, I was still met with empathy, compassion, and a true sense that no one was giving up on me. The community I found at Monima (both during the program and as an alumni) has been fundamental to my continued success in life outside treatment. I may be on the other side of the country, but I still feel cared for, welcomed, and buoyed by the community of incredible women Monima creates. I couldn't recommend this program enough to anyone seeking a path to true healing and wholeness!

Words can not even begin to describe how wonderful it was working with Kelly Shah during an Alumni x SHIFT event. As a somatic healing Pilates studio, we’re always looking to reach out to our local communities. We were… able to host a 1 hour mat class for their alumni at our studio, and we had nothing but wonderful things to say about the alumni that came in! It was an hour filled with harmony, community, and support with like minded individuals. The alumni were so grateful and made the experience so wonderful for our team involved. You can tell how much love is put into the alumni community via Kelly. She is relentlessly cheering these individuals on and supporting them thoroughly. We’re so happy to be involved with Monima and love to see all that we can do in the future together!

Going into treatment from PHP to IOP then coming out a totally different person. The amount of childhood trauma, abuse and maladaptive behaviors that I underestimated was beyond me. I was in desperate need of mental… health support in which I wasn’t able to function on my own anymore. I kept having mental breakdowns with psychosomatic symptoms every 2 years like clock work. I wish every person can experience this program. It was surreal, with therapy everyday and Ohana housing for 6 months ❤️‍🩹 Monima gave me a chance at a new life, insight, healing and more. I was provided CBT, DBT, EMDR, group therapy for complex PTSD and panic disorder. Trust the process. It really does work if you take it seriously. Healing is the most chaotic thing you will ever have to do in your life but the other side is sooo worth it. I love myself in ways I never imagined I could…Monimas support helped me break down mental barriers. I’m very much healed to the point of being off meds for more than a couple of years now and happily married along with internal joy. I owe it to the staff for their patience and understanding. Healing dosent end after treatment but it’s allowed me to take tools on my recovery journey to a better life ❤️‍🩹🌸☺️

Edit to the reply: I will never speak to anyone from this business again without a lawyer present. I tried that and my words were cruelly twisted and reimagined. The comment about HIPPA is ridiculous considering things… I said were constantly being shared with people who were not my therapist and then used against me. Another commenter hit it right on the head. They do not want you to speak up for yourself if it is anything against them. They don’t want you to advocate or set boundaries. They view it as an attack. So no, I will not be reaching out unless it’s through a lawyer. Honestly traumatizing. The people who actually are qualified and work as therapists are mostly ok but the owners are vapid and lack empathy. They will hold personal grudges and gaslight you. These people are scary. Program has gone downhill in the past few months because of hiring undertrained and terrible psych students to run groups. The house is nice and the techs are amazing. They made it worth it. But the owner of it picks favorites and is super under qualified. Does not know anything about conflict resolution and will treat you like a child. I don’t even know how she got the job.

The space itself is beautiful, clean, inviting, and thoughtfully designed to… put you at ease so that you a start your journey to healing. But what really sets Monima apart is the people. Everyone is not only professional, but also kind, attentive, and truly invested in your well-being. The treatments are top-notch, and I love that they take the time to really listen and tailor your treatment to what you need, rather than rushing you through like so many other places. If I could give more than five stars I absolutely would!

Pursuing healing through treatment at Monima has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life and I cannot say enough positive things about this treatment center and their staff. When I arrived at Monima I… struggled to know which way was up and who or what I could trust. Ultimately, Monima helped me get in touch with myself, and then with continued support and guidance, I learned how to trust myself. And that changed everything. Further, after more than a decade of searching for help with PMDD, I found it at Monima. They have a Reproductive Psychiatrist on staff who expertly and compassionately addressed my needs, and worked with me to update my treatment as needed throughout my time at Monima. As a survivor of both acute and complex trauma I found the whole treatment program effective and genuinely healing. It made all the difference to work with a team who is dedicated to clients receiving the tailored care they need, in an informed, nonjudgmental, and warm environment. My experience was that the staff at Monima live what they teach. Being surrounded and guided by qualified and compassionate providers every day provided a significant part of the healing I encountered throughout my time with the program. They met me every step of the way with acceptance and warmth and that example continues to be an important part of my recovery.

Monima Wellness Center has been such a supportive and caring place for me. The therapists truly care and take the time to listen, and the house gave me a safe, welcoming place to stay when I needed it most. I’m so… grateful for everything they’ve done to help me heal.
